Biffa I work in the mining industry and have an idea for your ore industry. Hopefully you see this and can use some or all of it. Normally on a mine there is a main security building at the bottom of the hill you have to sign in at (most use RFID cards of some kind) before continuing up to the work area. Additionally, a lot of mines run busses from one central spot to the main building, and then there are gates to protect the main area. You should make the bus to the mining area circle around at the main building, then put paths to get to the roads and build fences to "prevent" people from entering the work area in the hill. You can also put a parking lot opposite the main building which is pretty accurate to how a normal mine would work (100 employees in a remote area, lots of cars that need to park). Nevada Mining Association in the US has a virtual tour on their website so you can see what it should look like, these assets are all surface mining so I'd structure it to look like that. It's also common that these mines have a bunch of abandoned houses and such from homesteads that are 100 years old before the mine took over the land, so at the top of the mountain you should add a couple of these for decoration. If you want to go really overboard, a surface mine would start at the top of a hill and strip down to the level you are at, so you could run a road up the hill then create a circular road to get down to the work area, but that will probably cause traffic problems (aesthetic wise it would be more accurate).

Man that’s a cool idea!

I think, the blue route to the mines could have a mirror-route so people can get home with the bus without riding through the other parts of the city
@Pystro4 жыл бұрын
Or make the bus run from the main city to the ore industry to the workers village, and then back workers village, ore industry, main city. That way the bus ride is only a single stop long for every employee no matter which bus shows up. ...Unless you live in one residential area and work in a commercial building in the other, or want to go shopping there, in which case you're out of luck and have to travel two bus stops (shock horror).

John Smith I already use the mod for fertile land, which I move around for aesthetics, I will probably start off letting the ore run out so it is more of a challenge as I think Oil and Ore should be finite but arable land shouldn’t run out.
@mechanical_sport4 жыл бұрын
@@NineEyeRon I agree with the idea of oil and ore being finite, but it runs out so quickly that by the time you've got your industry area built up how you want, there's nothing left for it to do. I wouldn't mind a mod that let me set the rate of resource depletion, rather than it just being on or off.

Watching you decide on a theme for the industry suburbs reminded me of what a difference it makes that you timelapse your detailing bits. Other creators will walk us through their thought process as they place each individual house and that’s just too much for my tastes. You put in just enough for us to see how you do it, with a tour of the end product. And a tutorial for new detailing tools like the IMT and node controller. Perfectly balanced.

A couple of ideas for the ore region: 1) You can expand the ore area down to the lake with all the ore, and then remove the linking bit of the area. It should still count as one area, and you could then use the ore mining ships. 2) Check the postal service! I haven't seen you place any post offices in ages. 3) How about giving the new housing area a crematorium or a graveyard? 4) Please connect the HW connection that is on the other side of the city from the ore region to the road from the first high-density area.

But you balance them enough with the timelapse, final result and go over the city. Nice new area. Need a few more paths into the actual ore area (connect road ends to main road, etc.) Blue bus route brings people from one residential area to another, then to the ore area. Not ideal, especially if the first area uses it a lot, they'd be full when they get to the second area. Plus return trip for nearby workers takes them all the way back to the first residential area before coming back to theirs. Not ideal.

When you use smoothen terrain tool at the side of the road that was cut into a slope it does not work properly - first you need to adjust the hight of the real terrain that road was dug into - it wont treat the road as lowered terrain ( when you delete or move the road you can see that the lands height comes back to normal). You could also add a stop in the mine area before the loop goes to the new built area - they wouldn't need to go all the way around the line to go back home - taking up the space on the bus.

4:40 "big trucks will come in here to deliver to any commercial stuff we pop in, but we're not going to have the trucks taking this as a diversion."
