When I'd passed my driving test, literally only a few weeks later, as a family we went on holiday to Scotland. We were there mostly to walk, which is what we did. Mum, Dad, my brother and I. And our small black dog Tim. The latter was always a bit full of energy, and loved dashing about the outdoors like life itself. He was totally in his element out there! Until he slipped a disk in his back, about 7 miles from where we'd parked, and about [a lot more than that] from civilization. Somehow, I ended up going back for the car, while parents and brother tried to look after little Timmy. So one of the first times I'd ever driven the family car was in an emergency situation, up a steep valley, on a dodgy, shale, narrow, mountain track, with a sheer deep drop to a river on one side. Many hundreds of feet below, no border, and just about room for the car. If it wasn't an emergency, I doubt it would even have been legal for me to drive it, despite Scotland's permissive access laws. I bloody loved it! The hardest part was staying focussed on the road, and not just admiring the scenery. 😂 So you see why videos like this make me a little bit emotional by recollection. Also, love you guys; you are such a wonderful pair to watch. Thanks for bringing this memory back to me. And slightly late congratulations too!❤

Wow, what a wild story! Driving in those conditions sounds terrifying (and exhilarating!) -I can’t believe that was one of your first times behind the wheel! Poor little Timmy, but it’s amazing you stepped up to the challenge and made it through safely. Scotland’s landscapes have a way of creating unforgettable memories, don’t they? So glad our video could bring you back to that moment. Thanks for sharing your story and for the kind words. We really appreciate it!

Thank you so much! Glencoe is where we truly fell in love with Scotland. Its vast, rugged and untouched beauty is still breathtaking, no matter how many times we visit.

Lol. You’re absolutely onto something here… 100% his dream home. I also laughed at that moment… Next trip to Scotland we’ll have to dedicate a whole day trip to wandering the grounds of the mountaineering cottage 😂

great viewing, came here after the wedding and canal boat ones. I live in Scotland myself, moved from England. No going back for me, maybe if I got a canal boat that could change .........

Thank you! As you probably saw in our wedding video, the UK has our hearts, especially Scotland, so we understand your move. We did see that Scotland has it's own 137 mile canal system so maybe you could get the best of both worlds!

When you drove down Glen Etive you would have passed Dalness Estate halfway down. This belonged to Ian Flemings family and was the inspiration for Skyfall lodge and the Sore Feet statue in Fort William marks the end of the West Highland Way.

It can be quite the drive, especially if it's busy. However, as you mentioned definitely enjoyable and worth it in our opinion.

You can stay at the Lagangarbh Hut for the princely sum of £24 per person per night inclusive of VAT. Maybe a bit less luxurious than you are both used to, but the craic will be good and the views are not too shabby.
