In this months vanners collaboration we dive into the world of motorhome, caravan and campervan DIY modifications. Here we showcase the creativity and ingenuity of fellow KZbinrs as they proudly unveil their DIY projects on their beloved homes on wheels.
We haven't really done any DIY on our van as we think he is perfect the way he is and we are nervous to do anything, so we talk you through some of our future DIY projects, especially trying to stop midges from getting through the sliding door when camping in Scotland.

This campervan allows us the freedom of travelling in all seasons, we actually do most of our travelling in the Autumn/Winter as I have lupus disease | SLE | We stay on campsites & caravan touring parks, Aires & wild camp out in nature. We like to walk | hike with our cocker spaniel dog "Charlie" taking in breathtaking scenery of the countryside and the coast. There is something so magical about driving through the mountains and tourist areas in a campervan. Buying local produce to take back and cook in the campervan, or stopping at an independent shop for coffee and cake helping to support the local economy. Great to see you both having fun. We've had to use our fire blanket once so always keep it handy! We're a bit the same about not wanting to mess up the van but we do screw in hooks etc and we've got more gung-ho as we've gone along.

Put the curtains up in a non-DIY manner - Blue-Tack ;) I think we were really close to getting one of them draft excluders for the back doors when we still had the campervan.

Hi Em, in a boat if your fire blanket is easily excusable you would fail the safety checks, I’m surprised vans are not the same. Yours looks a good spot to me, your van is lovely as it is but we know what you mean about little things to make it more homely. 🥰😘👍

@@vansforthememories Yes the fire blanket is a rather important one to have in a permanent place. I think you will be fine once you get use to where it is I think you chose a good spot. I also want to move my tv but I don’t think I can due to wires and if I do what do I do to hide the holes left behind 😱 🤣 then there’s the issue of no heating in Noddy and if I decide on a diesel heater where is that going to go and how many holes will that be 😳🤣 it may be easier to just stay a bit cold 🤣😂🤣 and don’t get me started on how or where to display the stickers I’m gathering 👀

I have put one on the underside of my worktop flappy bit ☺️ but plan on moving it to inside the gas bottle cupboard ☺️ Oh noo you can’t go cold! Just think in your mind, it came to you like that, makes it feel less stressful 🙃 You will get so much more use from your van, with heat in it! Xxx 😘

@@vansforthememories the issue I’ve got with stickers is if I ever sell Noddy I want to be able to keep my stickers 🤣 so I’m thinking of putting them on a magnetic backing that I can stick on the front of my fridge and remove when/if needed. Yeah the heating is an issue but in all honesty I don’t know where a diesel heater would even go as the only real space I have inside would be under a seat but then it means loosing that storage for what I actually want it for 🤣👀 I may end up having to mount one underneath if there’s room and pray I never need to get to it 🤣😂🤣

We don’t have a fly screen either in our WarwickXL but the previous owners gifted us a fly screen which is secured with Velcro around the door - not perfect but did the job on a recent trip down to the south of France however not sure it would keep midges out 🦟 think we’d need specific midge netting.

Hi Em, enjoyed your video, some good ideas there, liked the shelf to make a draw divider and the bsck door draught excluder. Yes i like curtains, we only close ours though when it is on the drive as we were told at the motorhome dealers that leaving our blinds down all the time can stretch and damage them. Think without the curtains though it would look a little odd in our van. Great video, x Julie and Tony x

Hi Julie & Tony, that shelf turned on it’s side, has really made a difference to help stop it getting disorganised 😁 Ahh yes, our caravan blinds were like that, so we did the same as you, the ones in our van are fine being left closed 😊 so the curtains would really just add a bit “homeliness” to the sides, they wouldn’t have to close 😁 Thanks for watching & 😰 😂 Em & Gary 💜 xx

Been to Kinlochewe,midge problem just as bad in the caravan. We have a small plug in insectocutetor, which we found was very effective once we went to bed and turned the lights off. When you got up in the morning the van was mossy free.
