It’s sooooo good to see you talk to us face to face again, Despina!! We’ve missed you! Your voice is improving, which is WONDERFUL, and I hope it continues to do so. You’re all doing such a good job on the house extension, and it’s just one more improvement to your property that keeps getting better and better! Love to you both! 💕

If you don't make mistakes you're not trying...and besides, you learn from your mistakes. A carpenter would call that "custom fit windows" and charge extra. Happy that your voice is almost back to normal Dessi.

The wooden structure will move - wood will expand, contract, and twist depending on temperature and humidity, so hammering in the window frames so tightly, and fixing with screws will offer no wiggle rooms for such movement, and the glass under compression force may crack one day. You should have made the window frames sufficiently smaller, and needed the packers (a.k.a. wedges, shims).
@jaunteraudi8172 ай бұрын
I think these windows will crack or blow out, to tight installation. 😟

Wood expands and contracts over the seasons. Aren't you afraid that the glass will crack if there is no room for it to expand within the window frames?

Love your videos! One thing that I can say is that I have noticed about the most successful Homesteaders, DIYers and the likes is that they tend to be more of doers and at times offers a bit of an explanation of what they have done and possibly why they have done it 😊 keep up the good work 👍

Despina you look really well and hope you're on the way to healing fully and good health. Also lots of love to your brother and mum, not sure if they are still there but they're lovely. P. S. I hope nobody is hurt in Athens, I saw the news and it was heartbreaking.

Thank you, @questionmark9819 for mentioning the fire in the Athens area. I had been unaware of it, but have now read a "1-hour-old" article which tells of the fire and also sparks hope by saying there is now no remaining active fire. May it remain so! (Lord, please comfort, help, and protect everyone there.)

You will have to put in windows that you can open too as you need some ventilation. It can get like an oven in side in the summer. We had a Wintergarten in our house and had to have at least one window to open and also sun shades. But still I admire your work very much. You are building a really cosy home!

For the future reference window frame must be smaller then the gap in the wall, ideal 1,0-1,5 centimeters. Do not attach the window frame directly to house frame, use special hinges and angles.

It looks amazing! just a small question/worry.. what about wood expansion/contraction ? with so tight fitting .. wouldn't that cause cracks/brakes? Keep it up !
@doloresrozman56122 ай бұрын
That foam insulation is a pain. You usually have to put 1/2 because of it expanding so much. Sometimes, I think manufacturers do that on purpose.
@alexo58262 ай бұрын
The foam HAS TO expand to fill all the gaps. You just have to learn to work with it. I have no problems whatsoever. Proper spray foam gun, trigger and hand control.
@klaiai3712 ай бұрын
When you make openings for the windows, always leave at least half cm gaps, so you could spray foam in there.
@jaunteraudi8172 ай бұрын
Yeah, i would say even bigger gap i needed about 1 cm to 1.5 cm, i learned the hard way, my first plastic window installation needed a redo, because to small gaps, and in autumn wooden house absorbed moisture and it putted a pressure on window frame, couldn't open it 😆
