Beautiful motorhome guys, we live in New Zealand and have just ordered the Swift Kontiki 794 9Speed Auto which is due to arrive hopefully in June. If by chance you get to see a 794 would you be able to post a tour of that as we aren't privvy as yet to view what it will actually look like. Hi Irene. We have a HUAWEI E5577- 4G router that comes with the Motorhome so we are running with that at the moment but we also have a Netgear Nighthawk router which is ace so if we are at any point not happy with the Huawei we will switch. So far it’s been great 👍

Stunning motorhome and a great vlog ❤️A question on the tag axle and the no bounce…we are single axle and debating whether our next purchase is a tag axle or self levelling to get rid of that horrid bounce…..???

We hated the bounce on the 584 and if we were keeping it we would have longer term fitted a self levelling system. We haven’t really fully tested the new van yet on all terrains 😅 but so far, so good!! The handling is much more stable too with the tag axle. I think it helps that the shower sits pretty much over the back axle in this van. The shower room was across the back of the old van so when brushing you teeth or washing your hair it was like a bouncy castle 😂😂 We have lots of off grid camps planned so we will be testing gravel, tarmac and grass park ups. We will let you know what we find 😊 Thank you for your comment. We love our forever van 😊

Hi Guys, enjoyed the tour of the van. I am very interested in buying the same, havent managed to see one in real life yet. You mention off grid camping, that s what I want it for as well. We live in Aberdeenshire ,so Scotland is our main area to tour. How do you find ,finding places to off grid? Where do you mainly off grid? Could you do a little video just describing the driving experience. My current van is 7.5 mtrs ,not a tag. Whats it like living with the Tag and touring. I suspect Applecross would be tricky. Hi Gerry. Thanks you for the questions and to be honest, when we did the van tour it was - as you can tell rather tongue in cheek and I’ve often thought we should do a more serious version! Especially as we have had a few modifications made. Off grid camping certainly requires a little more thought and planning on the 650. But it’s not impossible! We made a vlog recently about staying in a lay-by. It’s the ‘Stealth or Wild Park Up - Winter Wild Camp’ vlog. We use 2 apps for off grid park ups. Search4Sites and Park4Night. We have the paid versions as apps on our phones. For just a few pounds a year you can access information about thousands of sites all over the world! We’ve used Park4night in Germany, France and Spain too and it’s brilliant for finding Aires. We can definitely make a video about how the 650 drives. I (Beth) actually find it more comfortable to drive than our previous KonTiki 784 (7.77m) The tag axle helps it hold the road and it’s also less bouncy! We started our off grid stays with pub stops so you get used to being self sufficient but there are facilities close by and you’re on tarmac. ☺️ We’ve spent a maximum of 5 nights off grid without moving the van camper in a field at a festival. But that was summertime and our solar kept the light on. Literally! We have also got stuck in the mud on a campsite and been towed out and that’s an experience we’d rather not repeat. 🫣 But as long as you’re prepared (we had a tow kit and the site had a Range Rover on hand) as with most things vanlife, you have to go with the flow and be able to laugh about the mishaps 😂 I hope that helps a bit? Great, you arrive at your camping site, get settled in and then find you can't park it anywhere else unless you also take another car ? You can always hail a cab, get a bus or an uber, to see local attractions, i suppose ?

Hi Guys again, I am going to look at a 2019 650 this weekend. Is there anything in particular that you can advise me to look out for? I am used to caravans for 25 plus years, then the last 5 years I have had 2 burstners excellent vans. But every van has things to look out for , any water ingress issues is my main concern. We are studying your video again and cant fault the layout. I do intend wild camping with it and going to cl or cs sites Only thing i see that i would need to add is a bike rack or a towbar bike rack........appreciate anything you wish to share. Hi Gerry. We haven’t had any water ingress so far (touch wood!) but some watch out for areas for damp would be the entrance step for the hab door. We have had some water collect in the bottom of true step under the grill mat during heavy rain. I think there was a loose seal or but of beading 🤔 After really cold weather, we also had some condensation from the front sunroof that dropped on my head in the passenger seat as the cab warmed up. But no damage. The other watch out for is on the roof where the water drains off. There are gully’s with openings and the water can really pour down if there’s been a lot of rain as we have a big roof area to collect water! This also means the awning can get mouldy if not dried out properly. The catches in the lower external lockers have become stiff over time and with the cold, wet weather but with a bit of lubricant they have been ok. The trim inside on the cupboards when we first looked at the van had come untucked in a few places. But Oaktree motorhomes sorted that out before we collected it. Also check the fridge and freezer door hinges. As they open both ways, they can become damaged if you’re a bit heavy handed or put too much weight in the door. Our hab door blind string broke after about 9 months but again, Oaktree sorted that out under warranty no issues. Mechanically we’ve had no problems. Sailed straight through her first MOT last month and no issues in the hab checks. We do love the layout for us. The little issues we’ve had are nothing more than the general wear I would expect. Oaktree motorhomes have been excellent with their aftercare. We have a tow bar which has only been used as an anchor point to pull us out of a muddy field, 🙄 but a bike trailer would be easy to fix that way I’m sure. I hope you find the van to be what you’re looking for. If you have any other questions let us know 👍🏻

I bought one of the first elegance 645 caravans and it was a lovely van ,had a couple of silly's nothing major, couple of recalls on it. Then we decided to switch to motor homing in 2017. I think i might get a bike in the garage if i take off the front wheel or both wheels. Hoping we can make a fair deal as we are both been talking about it for the last few nights. My wife has watched 8 videos now several times, nobody has opened the tall cupboard beside the fridge, to see what goes in it.🤣🤣🤣

Hi Guys, well I went to see the kontiki 650 at the weekend. I was 110 % looking forward to seeing the van as I have been looking at the advert so much and speaking to you guys ,my mind was more or less made up, keen to pay my deposit , i just wanted to go and see the van for real . I had done my homework with the other dealers selling the same vans and this van was not the cheapest deal but closer to home for me. I travelled 400 plus miles round trip to see the van. I hate to say , I wasted my time, the van didnt disappoint in itself, but the presentation of the van by the dealer was a total let down. I appreciate the van hadnt been through the full valet, but, things broken ,missing, stains on mattress, grease and grime all around the cooker area, table telescopic leg cracked, toothpaste left on shelves in bathroom. It completely threw me ,to go and view a van in this state and the price tag was just under £100k.I have bought from several dealers over the years but never come across vans being presented in a state. Gutted was an understatement. Mileage was 3000 miles. I asked the sales person a few questions and his answers were sparing with the truth to say the least. I played along ,but my disappointment inside was getting to much. Our dream was heading south rapidly. The advert said certain accessories were part of the sale , when I asked why they were not in the van , i was told it was now not part of the deal, the advert was wrong. Overall , I had lost faith / trust in the dealer and reluctantly decided to leave, we spent a bit of time away from the dealer, but close by, discussing if my expectations were un reasonable. Returned back to the yard after closing time as it happened for me to look at the now locked van , trying to see past the things that disappointed me. Earlier the Salesman didnt inspire me with confidence or any kind of re assurance. We went home, and we slept on it. We had spoken with the salesman about deposits etc and I was still debating to go ahead. I decided to not go ahead with the purchase, if this was how things were going to start off , I was too nervous to risk all our savings ,doing this deal. Next day emails came through with paperwork for me to sign and pay the deposit, accessories that were missing and verbally agreed would be part of the deal, were now not included on the paperwork. Enough was enough. I cancelled. Thats my story guys, just thought I would share as you were kind enough with helping me. I didnt mention the dealer or any names, as I dont want any kick back, you can probably work out where i was from my other replys. The good news is I had also got a couple of other vans that were on my list, Autotrail Commanche , and Autotrail GF80. I got in touch with the dealer selling these vans , I have put a deposit on the GF80 to hold it ,pending, until when I get a chance to see it. I felt re assured by the autotrail dealer / salesman to put down a deposit to hold the van. just goes to show a great product let down by the dealer. Incidentally the dealer sells all makes of vans ,not a swift main dealer. So ,not a swift owner this time. Still enjoy your channel and enjoy the content!👍

It is a huge investment and it must be the right decision for you so it sounds like you made very rational choices. There is nothing worse than misinformation to break down that trust from the off with the dealership. And there will always be a need to go back for warranty work and you need to trust them to look after you and really care about their customers. We are so pleased you have found another van option to explore and you will know when you see it if it’s right for you. Sometimes you have to trust your gut! I’m going to research the motorhome you’re going to see now as I’m very interested to see it 😊 We love our Swift and we have been well looked after by our dealership thankfully. Hiya - the tv’s were in the van when we got it. They are Bauhn which is an Aldi brand. We have them already from our old van along with an Avtex one we bought the day we collected the van. The Avtex is a smart tv but the others aren’t. To be honest the Aldi ones are probably better, they always find more channels when we bother to tune them in. The only benefit to the Avtex is the tuning being so easy. We have Firesticks in the tvs so we don’t need them to be smart tvs as the firestick does all that. I hope that helps

I’ve asked the motorhome community about this one…. The general response was: cars don’t fit in most garages at home, most garages at home are filled with general ‘stuff’ that doesn’t belong anywhere else! Fair points I thought 😂 One very knowledgeable gentleman told me that the word Garage comes from the French word garer which means to shelter or dock. 😋 So who knew?! I’ve enjoyed finding out more about why a garage is a garage and the general consensus in motorhome terms is a storage space with external access. 👍🏻 One person I asked did share a photo of their Smart Car being loaded in to their American style RV - they won 🏆 😊 it was amazing
