The helmet carried by Azrael's watcher was originally The Lion's, however that lore slowly changed over time. I really think with the return of The Lion Azrael should have returned the helmet and gained a different one. I liked it more that it was a relic from the Lion that was providing that aura.

The Lions armour is new anyway, he got that (presumably) from the Emperor, just like Fealty and the Shield. It's still called "The Lion's Helm", and for all we know, the Lion might have once worn it. I'm sure Primarchs had various sets of armour. Horus definitely had several different suits, not just his black Terminator armour, for example.

Alot of people dont realise with steam and gamepass, then all the streaming services you arent buying a product your pretty much renting indefinetly which means they can get rid of it or change it. The best thing to do is own a physical disk

Mini of the year for me was the simple Khorne Berzerker. I just think they did a fantastic job with that kit. Not a big, flashy centrepiece but a brilliant battleline sculpt; so dynamic and true to their lore.

A lot of Gundams are painted by removing parts from the sprue and cleaning them, then painting and varnish, then assembly. Sometimes you'll want to do some sub-assembly before painting. But they'll be fully poseable at the end of it.

With your Airbush compressor put it on top of either a thick soft mouse mat or even better a foam sound panel tile. It really muffles the sound of the compressor and stops it vibrating accross the wooden floor.

I have to agree with Geoff on the Terminator Chaplain. It's not a poor sculpt but considering how more animated all the other Terminators are, it's quite a static pose. It looks like a bigger version of the old 90s metal Terminators, it's almost like a Lego person pose, body kind straight, arms bent at the elbow slightly but holding his crosius and shield in line with the body. Compare it to the Chaplain on Bike, which is absolutely bad-ass in his look, it's quite deflating

Re the rogal dorn tank and 'what would you lose' - I think the greebles/stowage like jerry cans and toolboxes etc should be on a separate sprue either common to all kits or available like an upgrade sprue, so there would then have been space.

I kind of wonder if the Desolator Squad wasn't something similar to the case of Clown Nagash's head - in that the sculptor made a decent-looking kit, but some higher-up decided it needed to be more over the top, then the ridiculous version got approved... Whatever it is, they were definitely a miss. And happy new year, Painting Phase team - thanks for all the excellent content (and I'm excited for the Necromunda campaign)!

Happy new years! I looked up the tasting notes for the Old World Rye on their website and they seem far tastier than government warnings haha. Caramel, vanilla, and winter fruit for the nose. Rye spice, apricots, plums, raisins, dates, and honey for the palate. Hope that retroactively helps with your whiskey tasting experience.

Love the show, but if I had one complaint, it's that you don't edit pictures in of each mini as you talk about them. I know it's a core unit and boring infantry, but the new Saurus for Lizardmen were everything I hoped for and more. The 90's and 00's art done justice, 25 years later. If only the Tomb Kings had been as lucky in their "release"....

Good wrap-up, last year saw quite a few stunning pieces come out. GW-wise AoS was for me a clear winner and Belthanos and the flesh-eater court stuff the standouts, although Farsight was good. Nothing else tempted me to buy, it was an odd year as while I thought a lot of the GW output was good, it wasn't until the end anything actually grabbed me enough to want it. A big part could be the space marine effect, they just don't interest me as models. Non-GW wise Ewok release was long awaited and I am nearly finished with a full Ewok army. as was the return of Another Day in the corp and House Bolton for ASOIF. This year, I am focused on finishing current projects, the upcoming ASOIF tactics looks great with the insane Dragon, and I am interested to see what Warlords Epic Ancients shape up to be. I appreciate you calling out the difference between corporate output and the staff's passion and effort. Most of us have probably worked really hard at something just to keep things ok, at some point, but the effort doesn't make the result good. Also on pricing and GW, aside from the hobby value is subjective and therefore individual - you either want it enough or not, let's not forget while they need to make money GW is a viable business and can pay the staff bringing in the total turnover less the share dividends they payout, that is excess profit.

Howdy gents! Long time listener first time caller. Y'all have become my favorite podcast to tune into and love everything. Something in todays episode that urked my dramaturgical side was the Transmogrificantion allusion. I don't know if the author for Ciaphas Cain is referring to Calvin and Hobbes during the transmogrificantion part. While there are very pointed references to many things in his adventures transmogrification as a word appears in 17th century literature and is not an invention for Calvin and Hobbes, but it is very possible that the author read that word in Calvin and Hobbes and decided to use it. I would love to ask the author that. Sorry to be the "um actually" guy. I love what y'all do and get excited when I see a new upload. Cheers! ❤

I have a super boring answer for best mini, the Khorne Berserkers. I've been painting a combat patrol and the WE Christmas box, and each berserker I finish gives me so much joy for no particular reason. I love the whole World Eaters range, but Berserkers have just won my heart.
