As a group, we were tasked to visit Kampong Lorong Buangkok and film a video of our experience there as part of an English project. This video touches on the adventures we had there on 13 June 2015, the observations we made when we finally made it, and our post-trip reflections.
Our first trip was a total loss, with equipment failure and torrential rain, causing us to have to compromise and return again another day. However, with more experience under our belt the second time around, we were able to complete our filming quickly and efficiently.
Although our trip to Kampong Lorong Buangkok was not exactly a smooth one, the experience there was definitely rewarding one for my group. With the opportunity to visit the kampong twice, there was really a large variety of observations that we made. From the problematic first outing, to the redeeming second, we were able to discover much more about the kampong through this project. In addition, we observed many differences between the kampong and the urban city, these revelations gave all of us a new level of consciousness and understanding of the world around us.
Here’s to the last surviving kampong in Singapore. Long live.
