@Bruce Pearson Just a suggestion for you...If you like Tiny Shiny and Green Dream you might like My Little Homestead. If you like the family aspect and the building and learning I think you would enjoy going back and watching their videos from the beginning when the kids were young and progress forward as they build add-ons to the house and each of the four kids a bedroom. They still do projects and those are awesome to watch as well, just know the kids are grown now with 3 of them married with 2 granddaughters playing right along in helping Mom and Dad so their traditions and knowledge is being passed down that way as well. It is because of them that I'm watching Tiny Shiny Home.

Hello! I was one of the 1million who watched the 2-hour recap solar shed build. Loved every minute. I am getting so many ideas for when I build my homestead, so thanks. Not sure if anyone has mentioned it but it’s not a good idea to be outside during a Haboob. You can get very sick from all the dust you breathe in and you can get Valley Fever, please read about that, it’s a very serious illness that is in the dirt in AZ. Those monsoon microbursts are intense for sure. Welcome to AZ! Lol we haven’t had any kind of rain since 2018, so the rain in 2021 was welcomed! I hope you’re able to get your rain catchment system built soon, I’m looking forward to stealing more ideas from y’all. Seriously enjoy this channel and I love how your children are building skills they can use in real life. 💕

How do you get into what you’re doing with videos, raising gardens, animals everything that it takes to have such well behaved children and they don’t talk back and know their chores. I am 70 years old and have very little money but I took some of my life savings and bought 28 raw acres and will try to do what your family is doing but will attempt to do it pretty much by myself.I have a well installed on the property and that is it. The price of having electricity brought on the property is crazy and trying to find a reasonable person or company that is repeatable to install a septic is tough to charge a reputable price. I really want to get a tractor to help me with leveling the land to help with providing food. I only ran across your video a couple hours ago and watched for 3 hours and thought what a beautiful family. I better quit rambling and let you rest. GOD Bless!! !!!

Use 1 1/2'" ABS conduit and cast them inside, (under) the layers of earthbags, you might need a bunch of .45' angles if you keep building round walls. With the conduit inside the walls its out of the way, plus you can use larger conduit to easily run more wires inside. Tee the conduit wherever you want a electrical box and run a short length from the primary conduit, (under the earthbags) to the inside or out. Best of Luck in 2022.

All I can say is what wonderful "neighbors". Being in Cochise County provides so much freedom for building and being a senior needing an affordable situation I am so thankful to be doing my own projects as well. Okay where do I begin to say how excellent this channel is? My first question is this one: Why is this not a televised family entertainment program that is syndicated? I was introduced to your channel via MLH and found in here something very special. You tell it like it is and show the good, the bad and the ugly side of living off grid, in the desert no less!!! Your photographic layouts are beautiful and it would be interesting to have more content on those weirdly amazing weather patterns you see in the sky - I have a passion for clouds and colors of clouds! God is such an amazing painter - He takes my breath away so many times! In regards to wiring. MLH uses Romex (electrical wiring) between the layers of the bags. Does this not work with adobe bags? Just curious. They also use barbed wire to strengthen the layers of the bags on either side of the Romex. This would eliminate you having to dig into the bags to make the wires fit, reduce the amount of conduit piping between the bags. I am looking forward to seeing how the permaculture plan works out for you. I'm glad you have an expert in the field working with you on this. In Canada, permaculture is starting to win converts in all parts of the country. For me, living on the Prairies, it's a little different - we used to call it Xeriscaping - the art of using pockets of humidity to grow plants and using rocks and hardscape to populate the arid areas. In fact, Xeriscaping is a method that reduces or eliminates the need for irrigation. Thing is, this doesn't work very well where you are situated. With permaculture, there is a lot more options! Thanks Foret! Hyperdobe bags don't need barbed wire because the mesh material allows each course to lock in natrually to each other. We could put romex between layers, but don't love the idea of never being able to get to them again for maintenance. That's why we put them on the outside. After the first few we didn't bother cutting into the bags, though. Easy enough to cob over so you'd never know they were there. Still thinking about better ways to do it next time, though. Haven't heard of Xeriscaping, but yeah I'd imagine you have a lot more water to work with in Canada :) Thanks for watchin'!

Ilove that you have made this your family's life style. from your videos it seems your kids are not only included, but completely on board. That's soooo important as you probably know. I rarely comment and I've never subscribed to any of the many channels I've watched reguarding off grid living. I'm a rebel due to the condition of our government and ongoing circumstances making living a law abiding peaceful life impossible both financially and personally impossible! I own 40 acres of beautiful green formerly cattle grazing area in northern Cali. I actually don't live on my property currently for various reasons. But, I do have plans to live their in the near future! I've been saying this for nearly 12 yrs. now. I have been researching and watching off grid videos and channels for years. Wow you got hit hard you must down by Santan Valley I live in Mesa. But I lived here in Arizona most of my life and we always call that a dust storm and about 20 years ago one of the Weatherman started calling it Haboob . Haboob is from the Middle East which means Duststorm
