Nate and Sutton, do yourself a favor, and always travel with a bottle of probiotics as well as a bottle of activated charcoal in capsules. Nate, had you just taken four capsules of activated charcoal after the meal or when you started feeling poorly and done that two or three times, you would have been feing well so fast!Seriously, everybody should keep activated charcoal in their cabinet at home but always take it on a trip with you. And then once you had taken the activated charcoal you could follow up with lots of probiotics to put good bacteria back in your tummy. Just a thought! (Not intended as medical advice of course).

coming from someone who is Mexican and travels frequently over there: NEVER drink the tap water that they serve you in restaurants or at ALL. Never drink anything made with tap water: aguas frescas, horchata, Jamaica. Always drink bottled water, sodas, juices.

I had my honeymoon at this same spot with my husband last year and we loved it! Most beautiful place ever and people were so nice! Agh! This happened to us (minus the sicknesses) on our first family vacation. We actually did it with another couple from our church who doesn’t have children and we were SHOCKED by how different “vacationing” is as parents. I cried a couple of times, let’s just say. 😆 I really appreciate yalls honesty about it and like you said Nate, it does encourage me to not always put just the highlights out there. aw guys so sorry to trip was not what you hoped for! Here is my only tip when traveling with kids, go to Florida! You guys are so close to Florida too, and there is just such a WAY less chance of food poisoning and other things like that, you don't have to worry about the drinking water. And you still get the beautiful beaches and sand and sunsets etc. When at those resorts you have to be super careful what you eat and drink, it's hard to keep track. Go to Florida next time! We love 'Anna Maria Island' In FL, it's gorgeous and very mexican like. Hope your next trip is so amazing! xoxoox

A good friend of mine says whenever you go abroad, at first eat at places like McDonalds or Burger King because your stomach is "familiar" with its bcteria in most cases, so you don't get food poisoning the very first day.
