My pastor always says not to look for “the one”, but your “number two”. He explains that as Christians, we should look to place God first and then our spouse 😊 I know “the one” is a common term, but I think it’s important as Christians to rephrase it in our minds, knowing that God is the ultimate one who fills us up and satisfies, not a spouse!

Thank you for clarifying that idolizing your future spouse is a real problem many of us face but we don’t even realize it and that God is the only one who can fulfill and satisfy you and not your future spouse. I also learned this in my Young Women’s Ministry that not only should you become who you’re looking for is looking for but you should also become who you’re looking for. If you have expectations for your future spouse but aren’t some of the things you expect of your future spouse, then you aren’t ready to find your significant other yet. @Chocolate Grande I have the same fear. I've been wanted to get married since I moved to the Netherlands about 5 years ago. And it's been hard to find a man who really loves the Lord. Most interest I got were from second generation muslims who live here. And what's more frustrating is those are the type of men I am attracted to. Like the middle eastern look. And everytime I have to turn their request down cause they are not christians. Really frustrating!

it so easy to become infatuated with someone and disregard how much they are pushing you away from God. in my personal experience, don't ever compromise your beliefs and boundaries for someone else, it is NOT worth it. i wish i could have seen this video before making the mistakes that i have, but i am so excited God lead me to your channel and it's amazing to be able to look at such a strong christian couple. ya'll have given me so much hope for the future and i can't wait to see your upcoming videos! In early March, I made the decision to focus more on God and to stop idolizing the idea of marriage and a husband. It didn't mean I stopped praying for the right guy for me, but I changed my perspective. I decided to try taking extra time to break down scripture to REALLY understand what it meant. I have found that I love the book of James, and how it convicts you. It helped me realize I need to be a DOER of the Word, not only a listener who goes to church and forgets as soon as I leave. There has always been this one guy, who I've known for almost 4 years now, and I used to be infatuated/crushing on him. And then I prayed for God to save my heart multiple times, but one time, I put my foot down and said whether or not he is the one, save my heart. My 17-year-old infatuation with him was growing tiring, and within a week, I didn't have feelings for him (if you call that feeling). And it was a blessing because I felt free. And then, a month later I found he was dating someone. If I still had "feelings" for him, I would have been devastated. Two years passed as I tried to push off any feelings for him that I felt. Almost 4 months ago, is when I saw him the last time face to face. It would have been the last time in a long time because he was heading off to basic training. And that's when I came to accept that I still had feelings for him, but I was no longer infatuated with him. I kept praying and praying for God to save my heart for the right guy, but my feelings only grew. And recently, he called me and I realized that I really cared for him. Of course, as a friend, but there is something more that I can't put into words. Every time I try, I can't. Whether he is the right guy for me or not, I still pray for God's guidance and wisdom, and am trying to get to know the Lord more. And it is strange how even the last month, how praying for help on my weaknesses (my swinging mood and emotions) and allowing Him to touch me in those weak spaces, God has helped me through a lot of my emotions which has been my downfall for the past 19 years. And within barely even a month. Trust in God. He knows the plan, He knows the path, and trusting in Him, and praying for His peace, is such a powerful thing.

I never comment on youtube, and I first want to say I love what this channel stands for and think Nate and Sutton are a beautiful couple in Christ. I just hope this comment helps someone who comes along to watch this video. Singles, don't ever think that God has placed the desire for marriage in your heart and that there's a possibility He won't fulfill it. That's not the kind of God we serve. If you desire marriage and family, God has NOT given you the gift of celibacy/singleness. I know when you are waiting longer than you thought you would it can seem that way. But God would not give you the desire to marry and then call you to a life of singleness. For those that God has given that calling to they have no desire or interest in marriage or intimacy. I once read from a praying for your spouse guide "a heavenly mandate to remain single when the desire of your heart is to marry would not be a spiritual gift. If you desire to marry, God is faithful and will provide a spouse for you in His timing. Singleness is NOT your calling if you truly desire marriage. I understand because I have been there and used to believe maybe I have this desire and it is not God's will for my life. This is not true at all. I mean no disrespect at all, but I don't understand why there are Christians out there who try to tell singles who desire marriage that it may not be God's will for them to marry and I find it so discouraging that people say this to those who desire love and family the same way they did before they married their spouse. This isn't true, God does not place the desire for marriage in a person's heart and then call them to a life of singleness.

I literally went to sleep last night saying to God that I was preparing to spend the rest of my life single even if that isn’t what I really want, but I just had this mindset that if God calls me to spend the rest of my life single, I may not like it, but I’ll accept it. Your comment just gave me so much hope that I can find someone on God’s time, and in the meantime, I’ll try to be the best person I can for God and for her when she gets here. I just got out of one of the toughest breakups ever, and yes I’ve dated girls since then, but nothing ever lasted. So every night I’m gonna pray on this like I have but this time I’ll wait for God’s perfect timing on this cause that’s when me and her both will be at a place in our lives where God’s ready for us to meet. I want to thank y'all for posting this, so so much. I needed to hear this right in this exact moment. I am currently going through a heartbreak in breaking things off with a guy who I was absolutely crazy about, but the entire time I didn't have peace about him being my future husband and I always had this unsettling feeling in my heart. I had known that we weren't equally yoked and he wasn't in a mature place with his faith where he could lead me. I felt like I was always leading him and I just always told myself that he would eventually get there because I knew his heart. I realized that I couldn't do that and that God has someone out there for me who will only strengthen and push me closer to Jesus, than pull me apart. I have peace about that, even amidst the heartbreak and sadness I feel now. I'm so thankful I found your channel! God is so faithful, even when we aren't! :)

I’m in the same position as Nate right now. I went on a retreat and decided to stop looking for something only God can provide. I went to mass the week after and a young women had told me that her brother was interested. At the time I told her I’m was not interested because Im about to start school. But listening to your guys story, it gives me hope in knowing maybe God planted something in me. Since that day I’ve been praying and I hope some of you can pray for me as well!!

My religion is Islam but watching this video I feel I can relate to it, I used to daydream alot about my future spouse daily thinking where is he why cant he come to me now but from my experience with dealing with someone I thought I would marry I've learnt that only god is the one I can rely on, so now I dont find myself getting anxiety about not knowing where my man is because i know god has a plan and hes already written it for me i just need to focus on myself and better myself as a human being. My future husband will come when I least aspect it and it wont feel like I'm putting in all the work to chase a guy cause im much more than that. I've just started focusing on loving myself and striving to my own goals weather that's work or family and i feel so much more content and happy with life. Literally 12 hours after I made the decision to stop looking for my future husband, I met him. Just like the few other times I met a boy and hit it off, I prayed and asked God to let His will be done either way. Let it be easy and smooth and not be difficult if it was meant to be or let us pass me by - every other time I would pray this, it would pass me by. This time everything just fell into place & we have been together ever since! God had really been preparing the both of us and getting us ready for each other and when it was time, He made it all happen!

I like the message! Seems like it was that shift in the thinking that you needed to do. I personally agree with what you've said. Thank God that I started realizing few years back that what I needed was deepening my relationship with him and letting him work on my situation to feel whole. I think I'm getting to a very good headspace now and if someone cute and godly would come around I'd be glad. But finally I know I don't need anyone other than God to complete me, because that mindsed clouds your perception to the potential red flags and ability to think critically.

Thank you so much for sharing! I’m in tears listening to your words and coming to realize I am stuck in the “feeling lonely” being single. I greatly enjoy sharing my life with someone else... I have been single for almost 2yrs and there are times I am tempted to think I will never get married, etc. I do believe though that God is good and He has a man for me. Thank you for the encouragement. p.s I also use the triangle analogy!!

I’m not sure if you will even see this comment but I hope you do because I just want to thank you for what you have shown me and everyone else who has seen your videos. I want to tell you a little bit about myself. I am a 14 year old girl, I have been raised in a Catholic home and gone to a Catholic school all my life. I have a very big family. From a young age I promised myself to save myself for my future husband. I am about to start high school in two weeks and I am so excited... but I know it is very hard and there is a difficult road ahead of me. I just wanted to thank you for being such great role models for me to look up to. I know I have never met y’all but I feel like God blessed me with you guys. It is amazing how much of an impact you are making without even realizing it, and without getting anything in return. Any doubts or challenges I have or will come across in my future having to do with God and with staying pure until my marriage I am confident because of you. Thank you so much!

I just want to say I think your marriage and your channel are anointed; I see other Christian couples making videos that end up polarizing, hurting feelings and creating division. But somehow, you two share your faith in a way that is refreshing, attractive and humble. Thank you for being a light! Here's my question for your future video: how does a couple bond spiritually when they get married? Merging two separate, spiritual walks seems tricky.

In 3/5th grade I prayed for a guy for me for that season and he gave me one. He really helped me grow, and that gives me faith. I have a crush on this guy, and he seems like the perfect guy- Christian and everything! seems amazing. But he has a crush in one one else, and I can’t tell if that’s God telling me he’s not the one for me right now, or satan trying to deter me because this guy has already challenged me in my faith- one of my biggest things.

Yes!!! As soon as I let go and let God , He fulfilled all of my desires and brought me my husband whom I had been praying for. Because one God is sure He still has your heart then He knows you are ready for that relationship. He won’t put you in a relationship where you idolize the person instead of Him.

To start I woild recommend the letters of Paul. (Romans and than just keep reading. Personally I learned in my childhood a lot of the stories from Jezus. If you want to know Jezus better you could raad Mark single it is the shortest of the evangelical books and the one on wich all the others are based. (Mathew, mark, Luke and John)

You two (three) are so cute together. I am so happy for you all. Your little one is adorable! I have been single 8 years after an 11 year marriage. I didn't become Christian until after the divorce. I do appreciate that God put his foot down in my dating life. I have spent this time loving on God and my kids and it turned out to be the very best thing for me.

Everytime I see the image of Nate in his wedding suit, looking toward Sutton, as an expectant groom- I swear that look in his eyes as he looks at his bride, is so CHRIST like- i can't see it without cracking up! God Bless you guys. You are the cutest. I've been married now for 18.5 yrs. I have a blessed relationship with my husband. I married "not equally yoked". It was the hardest decision of my life. I asked grandma for her thoughts about it before getting married. She told me "Only God can give the gift of faith and you can't force anyone to believe so alI you can do is pray for him. As long as he doesn't take you away from God." I now believe God put me in his life and him in my life for a reason. I could see he was a good man that would make a good husband and father. And that has turned out to be right. He is an amazing husband and the best father in the world. He does pray with me sometimes. His prayers are so beautiful. But he still hasn't fully opened himself to the Lord. Please say a little prayer for us. Thank you! Carmen and Carlos Vega

I really agree with almost everything you guys said and had a similar experience in finding my One. But where you said a deep desire for a life partner is making that person an idol is flat out wrong. God gave us that desire, he designed us that way! Adam was walking with God in the garden but still needed Eve! We are God's bride and he desires us with more furfor than we could comprehend! It's all in his great design. He's taught me more about the depths of His love than I've ever known as I'm learning to truly love this woman the way that He loves us. If you really think about it that's an incredibly powerful call. He died for us and undeservedly bore all of our sins, he sacrificed everything for us. I'm learning that true love is sacrifice of myself for another. It's unbelievably powerful and there's an endless amount to say on it but I'll end here. I really have to write a book about it one day😀

That is exactly what I experienced. I was looking for a husband for 7 yeras and pray but nothing happened. Finally God said I shouldn't put such an effort in it but let it go, because it will just happen without fighting, naturally, and It did.... After year and a half I was married 😊
