I think it is our own responsibility to not sin. It would be so uncomfortable for guys to wear shirts while swimming. I am a woman and I love to feel the water against my skin. In islam the women go in these swim suits that are just so uncomfortable. I think it's not so much what we wear but our intentions. In culture they blame women too often for causing men to sin but that is not what Jesus says: Matthew 5:29 " If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell." This implies that it is up to us. I try to help other people to not sin but I am not about to cover up head to toe so someone won't lust after me. I think this can go for friends too. I believe it's the intention your friend has behind wearing something. In my short time of life I have seen people act provocative in sweatpants and seen peoole act modest in shorts. It's not about the amount of skin shown but the intention.

But please remember that's it's not only about others looking at us with lust, it's also about many other "small" sins like normalizing things that get closer to sinful. Remember how Noah cursed his sons for seeing him naked? I think society would get to extreme points if we don't resist. Now, the question is: "when" are "what" behaviors allowed from a biblical perspective?

do you believe that with being modest that sometimes (like being at the beach or going somewhere very hot) that wearing a tank top and shorts (for women) is acceptable? because there are times where i live where (in california) it is too hot to have to wear workout leggings or jeans and i just need to be in a tank top. but i find that sadly this does attract a lot of attention at times. but i’m not trying to attract attention it’s just what is appropriate for the time of year and hot temperatures outside.

Been married for 17 years now. We went to the mountains of NC for our honeymoon cause we live in Eastern NC so it’s close and a cheap yet awesome place to go! We stayed in my husband’s Aunt’s vacation cabin. We accidentally locked ourselves out of the cabin early one morning! I know we got back in somehow but don’t remember how! I do remember we laughed and laughed about it though! We hiked to waterfalls and drove up the BlueRidge Parkway! It was great!

I do think that is a good point though, that we should cover up in order no to tempt our Christian brothers AND vice versa, boys should cover up to not tempt Christian sisters, because the Bible does say not to be a stumbling block, which both can be for each other, and so i think it's good to dress in a way that benefits others because you're looking out for the wellbeing of your fellow brother/sister, as well as for yourself :)

For instance, if a (hypothetical) culture thinks it's not immodest to only wear underwear in public, it's still immodest in God's eyes. Right? I think the Church usually forgets how the Early Church was considered revolutionary by others. For example, it was common for the Roman people to go to the gymnasium naked (the word gymnasium comes from the Greek word for naked), but the Early Church didn't even go to those places. That why they were considered weirdos.
