Legally yes but the girl lied about her age and knew exactly what she was doing. The guy didn’t know the age of of this lying girl. She would state yes or no weather she was of consenting age or not; on both counts that she lied about her age. Therefore, I blame the girl; I don’t care if she’s under consenting age.

Statutory rape is a "strict liability" crime, meaning ignorance is not an excuse. _I don’t care if she’s under consenting age._ The law does not care if you don't know what the law actually is, and attitudes like yours undermine efforts to address sex crimes against minors.

I must admit, Carisi used to annoy me when he FIRST joined SVU. However, in years since, Carisi has come into his own as a detective, & NOW as an ADA, he's matured, become more finessed, grown more empathetic, & become ALMOST as good as his mentor Barba... ALMOST😉 I enjoy Carisi😄

That judge, Ellery, let the guy go because the guy, Getz, had dirt on him. What dirt? Video of Ellery sleeping with a 17 year old. The judge himself had commit statutory rape. He later made a deal to expose Getz and get him and his accomplices imprisoned, and yet Ellery was still a judge, which Carisi did NOT like (and I agree, as the judge should have been disbarred and imprisoned).

Only just finally binged svu and caught up until last season. Carisi is amazing as an ADA. I love that he's still full of heart and he's become more "mature" and confident. I will say I'm kinda disappointed with him not being as present in the series as he was when he was a cop. But I def enjoy him

Not at all. the moment that girl provided a fake id the statutory rape case became ridiculous. You cannot expect people to do complete background checks on each other. Requiring that he checked her id is one thing. You cannot ask him to have the ability to spot a fake.

So you think anyone who is 17 is easily manipulated and then in 1 hour comes their 18th birthday and POOF! All of a sudden they are no longer was at one easily manipulated? People can be manipulated just as easily if they were 18,19, or 20; they would still have a lot of growing up to do. Her being under consenting age means nothing!

Same here. A lot of people get away with phony plea deals and it’s disgusting that prosecutors, attorneys, and judges are all okay with this. Brock Turner and Curt Johnson are prime examples of this.

I like Carisi as ADA...but he spends way too much time in the squad room & at crime scenes. When did you ever see Barba, Stone, or Cabot do that? They visited the squad room occasionally...but it's almost like Carisi is still a detective as much as he hangs around.
