The FujiFilm X100VI is has hands down become my favorite camera to date. It is such a joy to use and it really does make the creative process something special. Yes, it’s almost impossible to get one and superficial “influencers” have ruined availability of it but it’s stellar regardless of demand frustrations.

I didn't have the cash to get new gear this year, but the GH7 definitely has me interested. Those specs Jordan talked about are legitimate. I want that 120 4k slow motion! I do a lot of wildlife and landscape shooting that could really benefit from that camera. I have a GH5 and I love it, but it is starting to feel a bit dated. I wish they would make a GH7S. If I were to buy brand new gear and start from scratch, then I think I would definitely look at Nikon. They are really hitting the ball out of the park right now. Good presentation as always don’t let it go to your head, Chris‼️ The only gear I bought in 2024 was a Tamron 20 mm f/2.8. Great lens, but I tripped on my first outing with it and broke the lens hood mount. Camera and lens survived otherwise so👍🏼👍🏼 kudos to Tamron and the Sony A7R2 for surviving the fall.

The R5 MkII is my favorite gear of 2024. I love the improved AF, the pre-capture mode (better than the pre-capture on the R6II), and the faster readout speed of the sensor. It's a superb tool for just about any situation.

Question for Chris. Can you use Photoshop on the ipad? Im torn between the ipad set up like you have as i like the thought of editing using the screen and pencil. But getting a laptop for its full functionality in editing software. Thanks

I use the Lightroom mobile app myself and it is very powerful. There is a mobile version of Photoshop as well but I can’t speak to its functionality as I haven’t need to use photoshop in ages.

I'd love to get back into micro four third recording but I worry that unfortunately it won't be around much longer, the market perception of MFT is bad and I feel a lot of that is in part because of the narrative pushed by many people here on the YT platform. Lumix didn't help themselves either with their launch of the GH6, which should have been the GH7 level in terms of bringing AF to the brand.

LUMIX decided that a S9 is more important than a GX85 successor says a lot about their MFT strategy, and I wholeheartedly disagree. It would be amazing to leverage the MFT platform to reinvigorate the budget conscious , compact sized hybrid creator market and make it under $1500 that can compete with ZV-E10, XS20, etc. I hope LUMIX is not giving up on the platform because OM is pretty much asleep at the wheel this year

Jaron, You are absolutely right about the X100VI, it’s a serious photographic tool. Unfortunately the TikTok craze that it generated made it a fashion accessory instead. Compound that with Fujifilm’s perplexing choice to not manufacture enough units after years of back orders on previous models, makes the X100IV a curiosity rather than do justice to its photographic capabilities. I have been so put off by both Fujifilm and the throngs that want it as a fashion accessory that I do not even consider this camera anymore. I purchased an X-T50 for my daughter instead, when she wanted a small nimble camera.

Z6 III vs GH7 which one is better for wildlife video?

If you have to rely on autofocus, Z6 III, if not, GH7 is going to be a better choice. The 2x crop and m4/3 super telephotos are going to get you closer for less $$ and weight - though Nikon does have the best telephoto options among FF cameras rn.

The GFX 100s ii was by far in my biased opinion...the best camera. BY THE WAY Keh is USA only... People do take photos outside the United States.Maybe you should find a new sponsor for the channel one that can offer the service worldwide.

The S5II can be had for a significantly lesser price, is actively cooled, records to both cards slots, records open gate, has much better video stabilization, has better monitoring options, captures more DR and a lot of other advantages over the Z6iii. Unless you need slow motion, the S5II is a far superior video camera and a superior photo camera if you aren't shooting fast action with the electronic shutter, as the IQ is better.

@@Wildridefilms I have an Original S5, it does everything I need. I would like upgrade Slow Motion and the S5II can't do it. No 4K 120 or FHD 240. The new S5 can do 4K 60 but it crops in 2024. I will just wait for the S1H II or S5 III thanks for the response

3:41 The obsession of the a9 III and Global Shutter is interesting. Global Shutter feels like a gimmick that's being forced down our throats with this a9 III. It's not revolutionary, and wasn't great when Canon did it in 2016 and isn't great now. The Sony A1 Mark II (and the Mark I) are still better cameras than the a9 III. Even Canon's R1 is a better option with better more useful features all the way around. 120 FPS used to be called "Spray and Pray" now it's being sold as a feature that everyone thinks they need.

It very much is revolutionary for video. For photo you can use mech shutter camera from 20 years ago to avoid jello, but for video even stacked sensors are still not perfect in certain situations (flickering lights, flashes etc). Now for the first time since the CCD era we have a modern fully-fledged hybrid camera that can properly render motion without artifacts abd distortions.

@@yawningmarmot you could do the same thing in the Canon C700 GS. It didn't sell. most people aren't moving mountains to get the Sony a9 III either. I get it for video you have your points. but the anti-flicker and variable shutter mode on the Sony A1 (both Mark I and II) help reduce a lot of that as well (same with the Canon and Nikon). I get it, the a9 III eliminates the rolling shutter effect, but honestly, if you're shooting a video and you want to captivate speed as well as other things, that rolling shutter has always helped give the illusion of things moving faster than they are. So for creative and cinematic effects, rolling shutter for professionals has been desired because it makes the actions scenes seem more intense and interesting and has a great creative effect. So While I understand where you are coming from, I don't agree for a variety of reasons, and we will see how the industry reacts to it.

@@yawningmarmot That same effect is also true for the camera shaking (which the a9 iii eliminates). The Bourne series captivated an entire audience an made the fight scenes seem more interesting because of the camera shaking, the "Jello" effect and other imperfections that allowed the viewers to be entertained. The equipment used doesn't have to be technically sound for the story to be shown. And that's were we are getting into the realm of novice film creators vs expert and professional film creators. Those who want to tell the stories using flawed equipment because it helps the story vs the technically sound people that are concerned about the ascetics and not seeing how the flaws can help enhance the story you are creating. It's the same for photography. some of the "Flaws" from the Canon R5 mark 1 are huge benefits for creatives because that camera NOT being technically sound allows creatives to use those flaws to their advantage.

@@80-80. I'm confused who you are addressing? are you talking about the Global Shutter Features are for "Pros"? The reason why I am asking, the vast majority of "Pro" Don't have global shutter. The Arris doesn't offer a Global Shutter Sensor in their products, RED only has 1 (Please correct me if I am wrong) Global shutter camera (and it's not really requested on sets). Black magic doesn't have one, Canon no longer offers one (they did in 2016). The list goes on and on, so if you were addressing me and saying it's a "Pro Feature" according to whom is my question?

For years it's only an increase in frames per second .. I don't get it.. I'm not a professional I love creating photos and videos for myself.. however saying that an increase in fps makes things possible that used to be impossible is kinda weird to me.. I have the canon r6ii and the r8 however more and more I use my phone instead.. we need new software .. not new hardware.. image phone capabilities in a full frame body.. however that's just my take..

Where is the FW 3.0 update for the α1? Why did Petapixel sell out to Sony? Giving Sony Camera/Prime/Zoom the Gold award is an abomination. They ruined the brand by selling their soul to Vloggers, and provide tons of firmware for the α7IV and next to zero for the α1.
