I went there when Steve Irwin was still alive, it was so funny to listen to all the kids asking their parents "When can we see Steve". None of them were interested in the animals, they just wanted to see Steve. (And no, he wasn't there that day)

Australians were devastated the day Steve Irwin died. I was at work on a building site when we heard of his death. So we all packed up & went to the pub to have a beer in honour of steve

He is a global treasure! We should all have a beer in his honor! ❤❤❤

Don't realise how much we take for granted here. On my old property I'd step outside each morning to see roos on the driveway (was 800m long) and up to 50 in the paddock. Or up to 50 bounding straight out in front of the ute on the road back from town at night as well as dodging front end destroying wombats. Stepping over the resident 6 foot long King brown snake (one of the most venomous, but actually docile once they know you are not threat) or encouraging it off the driveway so I could get the ute out. Just had to lift it's tail and it knew to make a wiggle on our of the way and never once got grumpy being given it's matching order or raised it's head when I stepped over it. Even my dingo and cattle dog quickly gained equal respect with old Joe Blake (snake). Living in Wollongong now but still plenty to see in the ocean in front or the mountains directly behind that I'll probably never get to see. It's quite often the tourists who see more than us, my excuse is it'll still be there next weekend, but next weekend is always next weekend and never this weekend. If that makes sense.

Wow that is amazing! I am not sure I could handle just casually "walking over a snake " 😂 especially one that could potentially kill me very quickly! Being from the US, that is wild to hear that people live like that! I wish I had kangaroos hopping around at my house!

@@samandnick Like everything in the wild if you learn to live with nature and not against her nature very quickly learns to live and coexist with you. I often have a chuckle to myself when I see videos from people not familiar with our wildlife (in no way referring to you guys, just in general) and how everything is waiting to jump out and totally ruin or end your day, especially our close mates from the US. When in actual fact except the odd croc or shark unless you actually look for them just about everything else is more scared of us and will be gone before you know it was there and the only snakes seen are the unfortunate ones who thought it was a good idea to sun bake in the middle of a bush road. We don't have to worry about being ambushed by mountain lions, bob cats or lynxs (spelling?), chased down by angry bears or bowled over by moose bison elk or caribou (are they in US?) and harassed by a pack of wolves. Our biggest danger in the bush are what we call 'widow makers', large limbs that suddenly break and fall from gum trees (eucalypt) if you're unlucky enough to be under one at that very moment. Yeh nah I reckon we got it pretty easy here compared to the other continents.

Australia Zoo is very awesome. You're only allowed to hold a Koala in Qld, SA and WA. So you picked a good spot! We have some great things to do aroud Brisbane!

That is really interesting! Why is that? Australia zoo was a bucket list place for me!

@@samandnick apparently koalas suffer from silent stress according to some studies. That then affects their immune system. The biggest issue they have is habitat destruction though.

If you want to try some more Aussie treats have a look into the Menz chocolate factory while you are in Adelaide. They make some great fruit based chocolates, honeycomb and have just rereleased an old Aussie classic called a Polywaffle. I’ll let you discover the tastes for yourselves. 👍🇦🇺❤️
