Oh, definitely put wide steps on the bunkee! Besides being a great place for potted plants, wide steps make a wonderful place to sit. We had a wide set of steps on our porch at our old farmhouse, and it was so nice to sit out there during the summer. Sometimes the whole family would be sitting on the steps, along with our dog, our “barn” cats, and occasionally a chicken or two! It was a great place to stargaze at night as well.

Pressed tin in a copper colour would look great as a backsplash too, or even just as a backsplash behind your stove as an accent. It would match the drawer pulls. Just a thought, I love vintage style kitchens. ❤ Great bar recipe, I’m trying that one!

Pam here…make sure you have hand rail on your steps off deck of bunkie. I fell off my sister in law’s cabin steps…as there was nothing to hang on to and landed on my side cracking 5 ribs from my elbow crushing into chest. A lot of pain and was black and blue entire back and side. So fortunate not to end up with head injury. We made our front porch steps wide, so getting up or out with furniture was easy. Have railings and ledges on the outside of rails for our pots and planters.

You will never regret having wide steps. I agree with you that it will give you such flexibility to be able to put some planters on either side but also just give you plenty of room going up and down if you need to bring things in and out.

Hi Chelsea, I just want to give you a few tips on Microgreens. First soak the peas for at least 6-8 hours. To have good growth plant 275-330 gram in a 1020 tray. Put another tray on top and weight it with a couple of bricks. After 4 days then put it under light. Each seed has different requirements. Have fun

If I were to build that cookbook shelf close to the stove, I'd put glass doors or a curtain in front. I found that oil floats in the air and settles on things nearby. Probably not noticeable if you are cleaning often, but I'm a bachelor! Dirt doesn't get cleaned until it's noticeable. 😄

Suggestion for kitchen: While admiring the great looking white shelf over your stove I thought how nice it would look to put similar over the windows eliminating the need for fabric curtains. I installed a hanging light fixture over my sink as task lighting which I love. There are many to choose from that would give that 1930s affect you like ( a school house fixture for example). Welcome to the world, Blossom!

I hope you will not regret painting the bottom and railing black because that will show dirt and dust very soon (rain, wind... ) . The color your kitchen has is perfect to hide such things and would look crisp much longer and will save you in cleaning time. We choose that green color for that reason for our garage door and it so nice.

It might be nice to have the parking area to the left of the cabin so that the view from the front and side deck wouldn't be obscured. You probably already thought of this 😊. Then a short ramp against the house on the left side to help with moving things, luggage, etc. into the cabin and wide steps in the front.

Sage in kitchen is great and I'm happy you didn't go with subway tiles. The bunkie is awesome and black can be the accent color. Otherwise, I like the idea of a dusty red. I think Sage would look good on the bunkie, but for a main house door/outside, I think it isn't bold enough for an exterior. And since red and green are complementary colors, a soft Sage and dusty reddish is bold enough to complement, traditional enough for a farm, and soft enough to be welcoming. Blossom is gorgeous like her mama. I love when you share the babies on the farm!

Congratulations on the new calf - she is a sweetie. The cabin looks great - I would suggest the wider stairs centered on the door. I think the cupboards will look nice in the sage green.. Good idea with cupboard - a butcher block top would be nice to tie into the one you work on regularly. I am thinking that upper cabinets over the stove would also be a nice addition -mind you our potato chipper would then have a home over top of the new cupboard. Great, fun video.

Thank you for the fun. Please do consider putting a glass front on your cookbook shelf. It is my experience that literally anything in a kitchen that is within 6' of a stove ends up getting very greasy--and I noticed that your new Collected Recipes notebook is fabric! Ugh! If you do any frying at all, which I know you do, a glass front would protect those books. Yes you would have to clean it, but it's the better option!

On the cabin - being a senior citizen I need to use hand rails to go up and down steps. What if you made it a wide step, but put make the rails easily accessible for using but put the plants on the outside of the rail. Hope that makes sense. I love the idea of lemon bars with a shortbread crust. I made a pumpkin cheese cake for thanksgiving with the short bread crust - it was so good! Oh, and back to the cabin, I am a big fan of sage green too, but a red door would really make the wood on the bunkie pop (IMHO). One other thing, I'm going to email some pics of recipes from my 1890 recipe book for you to see.
