The Forest Miu is my all-time favorite! The Shimano Cardiff Search Swimmer is really good too. The Daiwa Presso Eve is an awesome spoon. Thank you for sharing!

Thank you very much for taking the time to make this video, William. I recently started fishing for rainbow, cutthroat and cutbow trout on Great Central Lake on Vancouver Island, and I seem to notice an increase in success with certain spoon colors depending on light conditions. I was just about to order some unusual colors to continue this experimentation, and your video helped greatly in that regard. Glad to hear that shipping is quick from Japantackle. These spoons will arrive quicker than some I ordered from Canadian East Coast suppliers... 😀

Glad you liked the video. Yeah I agree spoon colours can be dependant on light conditions for sure, and more importantly water colour. In the interior we get lake colours from tea coloured all the way to clear. The shipping is from Japantackle is amazing, you will be impressed. I have seen videos on the island of lakes that produce 20lb plus rainbows…one day I’m gonna fish these lakes 😀. Best of luck!

Something humbling seeing you and your father experience the experience of the jdm market. They are all great spoons. The jdm spoons have a much more refined action and they have specific spoons with different swims, the hooks ade better! The minnow style baits are expensive but great for moving water, my favorite is the gh51 right now, they have knockoffs of them on AE, and they have cheap spoons on there with good terminal ranging from 2-3 grams. Snaggier areas or pikeland, they are good assets. The jdm market also offers some extremley facinating fly fishing products, ive got a few, they have got some super fun leader builds and systems than revolutionize creek and lake fishing, really technical stuff, expecially where fly fishing shines in stupid shallow tiny streams and slow water. You and your father remind me of me and my father. ❤

Yes the JDM lures have a much more refined action. The hooks are definitely better. I want to do a video on how much better the JDM hooks are than average North American hooks. I have purchased about 15 of the minnow baits. I have not had an opportunity to use them yet. I am sure they will work well on rivers and lakes. I am not familiar with the JDM fly fishing offerings. I am sure they are great considering how good the rest of the JDM products work. Thanks for your time, best of luck on the water!

@@BCoutofdoors how big are the rainbows you target?
@BCoutofdoors9 ай бұрын
@@12345B we catch many in the 2-4lb range. Above 4 pounds is considered a nice one and those are the ones I go after. They can easily get to 10 pounds in British Columbia. Some lakes on Vancouver Island and large mainland lakes can produce 20lb plus trout.

Nice video William. I am also a big fan of JDM lures. I like Ito Craft, Jackson and Smith Ltd. But I mainly use minnows. Still don’t have much experience with spoons. After watching your video I will try them. I am Alberto from Peru. Good fishing !

Hello Alberto. Good to know you have luck with them too. Out of curiosity what is your target species in Peru? Good luck fishing!

My friend I know this post was a year ago, but some tips for spoons: you can do different actions by simply changing your rod tip angle when you retrieve. If you have your rod parallel to the water and your spoon will flutter vertically. If you put your rod tip down near the water, your spoon will flutter horizontally. Trout will prefer one over the other, so try them out!

You mention that you don't troll the lures in lakes. Is there a reason that the lures don't work well if top line trolled?
@BCoutofdoors10 ай бұрын
I don’t like the constant movement that trolling imparts to the presentation. When I get bites I like to stop the retrieve and let the lure drop (so many fish take it on the drop). I feel it gives the fish the illusion that it stunned the bait and entices them to strike again. Over half the fish I catch seem to nibble at the lure before striking it hard. Also I work the bottom structure a lot, I let the lure get down into weed beds until I feel it touch and I skim over the weeds by feel. I can’t do neither of these with trolling. With that said trolling these do work as my father and cousin had success trolling last year.

Hello Donald, post yours and I will send you an email, I need to create a email for KZbin related stuff and fishing forums. The small ones are Forest Miu, I prefer the 3.5 gram offerings. I order them from Japantackle.com. I have no affiliation to them except of being a customer. I get no money promoting them. Here is a link to there website and this should take you directly to the forest Miu selection at Japantackle.com japantackle.com/lures/jigs/forest-miu-spoon-single.html
