Every ornament garners a story over the years. Places you've visited, people who've given you special things and who may have passed on. We had ornaments (which actually came from Germany actually), that my grandmother brought out from Europe in the 1950s. Each one has a story. That makes a tree so special.

I read in the NY Times that the Christmas Tree Pickle is something people from Michigan (they are mostly German immigrants) do as a fun activity for Christmas morning. But, the article I read is that no one really knows where that tradition really started. We are from California, and German and have not heard of the Christmas Tree Pickle! Every time I watch one of your videos I think it is my favourite yet. This is so so lovely. Your beautiful tree with the archway in the background is stunning. Each decoration is just so enchanting. My eyes welled up when you told the story of the miner and the angel. My great grandfather was a miner - I hope he always felt an angel watching over him. Que hermosa les quedo la decoración...muy fina, elegante y llenita de historias muy bellas que transportan a otros lugares. Preparar la casa para navidad es un trabajo...pero una vez lista, la recompensa es mayor que el cansancio. El comedor es espectacular y va muy bien con el reloj. Felicidades!!!

I do the same, I like the continuity, its what tradition is not being fashionable. I like that by doing this it brings back all the happy memories.. I collect mostly traditional & wooden ornaments. Miner and Angel in the dining room as you ahve not got anything for there yet.

I love decorating my tree and seeing all my treasured ornaments that I’ve acquired over the years. Some I inherited from my grandparents, some were given to me as a gift when I was a child, some have pictures of my beloved pets that have passed away-so many memories! Your ornaments are so beautiful! I love the idea of the pickle! 😂😂

I appreciate your taste for tradition, which I share. I live in a small village in the mountains and every year I use the same decorations. We sing ancient songs and pray in the houses, sharing food and moving with lanterns between the houses of the village. I appreciate the depth and culture of your videos.
