Like the fact that you show its not always sunshine and roses. That just makes it better for later on (remember that time..." also you could tell you were nervous about the border crossing. Like you said worked up for nothing. Glad to see the store back open as I want to purchase some items to support lifestyle overland. Do you think you'll offer the t shirt you had on with your rig on the front? I would love to purchase one. Blessings!

Having lived in Upstate NY most of my life, Crossing the border is like going to the mall for us. Today everything is so computerized they can determine if you go or not in seconds. I'm surprised he didn't ask you to pull over and show off your gear and truck...LOL. You probably would have had a heart attack !

The conductor of the locomotive has the best damn job in the world. Absolutely the best scenery one could find (that mountain range is something else) driving a piece of heavy machinery with NO traffic being able to take your eyes of the "road" to take it all in. Man, I'm jealous.

I truly love hearing successful border crossing stories like this. Most of the time when our friends from the south get turned away, it's simply because people treat us like just another state... We are not, but when you take due diligence like you guys did 9 times out of ten there are no problems at all. Hope you enjoy our beautiful country and sure hope you don't stay for winter, because that rig is sweet but you'll be shivering something fierce! You guys have a new subscriber :)

NO WAY! One episode, TWO places that I have also camped - just a hop skip and a jump across the boarder! Worst night of my life was in that field - there was a massive thunderstorm (this is 1993!) and the entire field turned to mud. Then the wind picked up above 60mph and the muddy field ... well, we brought much of that Canadian field with us on the rest of the trip! This video brought back great recent (and old!) memories and reminds me that I'm very lucky my family has a great tradition of getting outdoors together!

Were you camping on the east side of the reservoir in the Bob Marshall Wilderness on that wet morning? We were backpacking in there July 2018 - beautiful country and a fantastic road. My 10 year old's treat for her awesome work (28lb frame pack, 8 miles a day!) was a huckleberry ice cream at the SAME spot you brought your kiddo. Love your videos, especially your excellent scripts and narration. I feel that your gift as a writer sets you apart from the rest of the KZbinrs - more than your great video, lovely family, or positive outlook. We saw a PILE of bears up in the 'Bob' - hope you kept your bear spray handy!

Oh Canada border crossing! On my way last summer to Tuk, I also called RCMP two times to make sure I did it all by the book before driving to CA, I had a shotgun too. At the border I handed over my forms in triplicate, they made me park, hand over my keys, then they tore my car apart for 30 min, popped panels, broke my glove box, completely unpacked my 2015 Outback, searched my body, then handed back the keys to my car with all the stuff setting outside. The rest of CA was great. Yukon and NWT AMAZING. I would love to go back in my 4Runner.

You guys are so awesome! Wishing you the best in the new year! I’d like to make a suggestion for the new year. No offense intended by my idea, but want you to seriously think about it. You are SOOOO FREAKING GREAT with the music that you produce your films with, whole-hearted, vibrant, and all-American! The intro music, however if far from this vibe you create. It has a weird Aussie vibe and feels a bit like a Survivor offshoot. With your music taste and having created your brand, Jan. 1 might be the perfect time to update your intro to more represent your family, your life, and your brand. Just an idea, if you don’t feel what I’m feeling, chive on, you guys are amazing regardless! Nothing but LOVE... best to you guys, inspired daily.
@LifestyleOverland
@LifestyleOverland 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the input and for following along. The intro music is all original, written by my brother who is a composer to our exact request... so it's not changing ;) In fact, we just amped it up with some additional sounds that help blend with our music and convey that "epic" feel as we move into "epic" country.

Awesome video guys! I’m glad you enjoyed our Country, it’s absolutely breathtaking. So much unoccupied and free open space. I’ve heard that there are over 10 000 lakes in BC alone. There are hundreds of substantial mountains that have never been climbed, named and mapped accurately. We have rainforests, beautiful beaches, great surfing spots, amazing sailing and boating, actual deserts where it gets to 40 degrees Celsius in the summer, places that get 10 meters of rainfall a year and places that get less than 10 cm a year. And this is all in British Columbia alone! Enjoy your trip and thanks for the quality production! Cheers 🍻 🇨🇦

Welcome to the Great White North, was wondering what that experience would be like. I've lived in Canada nearly as long as America and there are some similarities and big differences too that you'll probably get a good taste for (not least of which is the currency exhange rate lol . . . that'll keep you coming back if nothing else). it's awesome you got that Yaesu FTM-400DR radio (one of my favorites) ... you better have that ham radio license to operate that machine ;) or you can get in some decent trouble. If I'm not wrong the FCC fine starts around $5k for transmitting on ham freq without a license ... uhhh !!!. Lots of people in the overland community put these radios in their vehicles without paying attention to the regulation for using ham radios or maybe they don't know they are ham radios ... don't know ...but it has become an increasing phenomenon in the overland community.

Welcome to Canada. "Thought there would be more maple trees" LOL. Wrong time of year to be here as everyone who can has left for Arizona. Hope you like the cold as you head North. If your route takes you up through Williams Lake, Quesnel and Prince George, instead of taking Highway 97 consider traveling the other side of the Fraser river for that stretch. At Wiliams lake take Soda Creek Road which will get you to the west side of the Fraser river and onto West Fraser road and head north. About half hour south of Quesnel you will cross Deserters creek (AKA Deep creek. Its on Google maps). If you park on the North side of creek there is a trail head on the west side of the road that is a nice hike to the falls. Its about 1.5 hrs return. The falls have eroded there way into the rock face and is almost like several 15-30' falls inside a cave. Next in Quesnel you could check out the pinnacles park. From there you could continue up the Black water Road to Prince George. If your coming through Calgary, Alberta Shoot us a message and stop in.

Idaho is fantastic. I remember the days of going to Winnipeg with friends before I was 21( I lived about 200 miles southwest). They asked why you were coming to Canada, how long are you staying. And you said to visit a friend, they said OK, how much alcohol and tobacco do you have? Have a good stay. When you came back the US side would say: How long were you in Canada? Alcohol or tobacco? Where do you live? Where do you work and what do you do? Have a good day.

When did you arrive in Canada? How long did the drive up to Prudhoe Bay take (from the border)?

Really enjoy all your video's brings back old memories of all our over landing adventures back in the day. We now travel in our motorhome and are kinda spoiled but the best times we had were over landing in our jeeps. One question I have is what kind of shotgun did you bring with you? We are going to Canada next spring and not sure if I should bring my self defense 12 GA or my old trusty Remington 870. Keep up the great work we really enjoy watching. Ken

Welcome to 🇨🇦. You know... we’re really not much different than our southern neighbors.. we say sorry a lot... I’m sorry for that.. we actually like fruit. A lot. And our British Columbia farmers grow some of the best fruit around. Yes, we like maple sirup, no its not everywhere, sorry. Believe it not, its just as stressful for us Canadians to go through the US boarder crossing. But as long as you have nothing to hide or a dark past, there shouldn’t be much worries. Right? Anyways, welcome to the great north, I hope you and your lovely family enjoy our country side as much as we do. Crown land is everywhere, I imagine its much like it is in the US, just have to look for it or ask questions. There is a government website (which at this moment I don’t know what its called, sorry) .. but the website is a detailed map of all government Crown-Land and which areas are protected conservation areas and which are “camp-able” zones. If you haven’t found it already, I, or someone else will be more than happy to track that down for you. Safe travels.

Question. Did you cross into Alberta or British Columbia? Either way... when looking up Crown-Land maps. You might need to google Crownland maps for the province you are searching for. I could be wrong. Also, any local Libraries should have information as well.

7:03 Not that Canada does not want fruit, we just don't want the parasites or fungus that may harm our crops. 15:28 Good thing that you did your homework, shot gun with a permit not a problem, hand gun, big problem. 16:14 of course it was easy, you did some research and had good paperwork, camping in Alberta and BC is pretty easy, I know this was a year ago but I just started watching your channel. 16:28 Sarha is right, "you should be" 16:58 "Public Land" in Canada is called "Crown Land" (we still have an attachment to the Queen here) 19:15 The big maple trees are in the east like Quebec and Ontario. 19:33 Now you get it see note for 16:58 20:00 Try crossing if you smoke Mary Jane in your rig, that will open a can of worms you don't want to deal with. 20:36 Yes, yes it is Awesome. You are in an amazing area for overlanding, looks like you are just outside of Calgary maybe close to Banff. Camping in the west is dead easy, just don't be shooting your gun off for no reason. Good job Kevin I really liked your production, now I have to go watch all the rest of your episodes.

Question for you. Did you say you were able to bring a shotgun across the border into Canada? I live in BC and I was told Canadians were not allowed to bring firearms, shotguns, into the USA. Do you know if that is correct?
