Oh I hope you’re having fun! I wish our weather had been better for you! I’m 40 mins south west of Anaheim and it’s been rainy/windy/cool for the past few days. 😮 I LOVE the ease of Disneyland. It’s SO different from Disney World. It is much easier to navigate like you said because everything is all kind of squished together 😂 we do not have the space in congested SoCal. Plus, when Walt imagined this park it was a much simpler time. It’s nostalgic for me, because I was raised here I will always prefer Disneyland. Park hopping to DCA is so easy as it’s just across the square. Cars land is SO cute! I hope you were able to be there for the evening when it’s all lit up. Much of DCA is being reconfigured to include more Pixar I believe. The Disneyland hotel is very nice, not fancy really, especially compared to some of the resorts you’ve stayed in before at Disney World. The pool area is fun though. You’ll see that everything is much more compact over here. 😂 You’ll be able to walk through downtown Disney every day since that’s the pass through from the hotel to the parks! There is a monorail station very close to the Disney hotel just after you enter the downtown area that can’t take you straight into the park. Good to bypass any lines at the entrance. Blue Bayou is a fun experience and also much quieter compared to the constant hustle and bustle of the other restaurants at the park. Good choice, I hope you liked it. The Grand Californian is a gorgeous hotel but I don’t think it has the same Disney feel or touches like the others.

The weather was the one downside of this trip! I was not expecting cold rain!!! But maybe it kept the crowds away? We still had an incredible time.

WDW is our home park, and where we go most often, but we did Disneyland last year and loved how walkable it was. We were off site, but very close, and loved only having to do bag check once for the day and having access to everything from there. The snack options weren't as expansive as people sometimes make it out, especially if you don't need twenty flavors of churro, but we did eat plenty. It was odd how many places had New Orleans food.... There are a few rides we like better at Disneyland (like Space Mountain), but we didn't like how many queues were outside. After four days, we felt like experts, and we will definitely go back, but World will always be home. I know Land came first, and we enjoyed the history, but it felt like 'Bizarro Disney' in comparison to what we've always known, lol. We hope you are having a wonderful trip.

THIS WAS SO NICE. Wow. We timed walking out of our hotel room and into the park and it only took 12 minutes! Incredible.

So excited for your family and upcoming vlogs!! Definitely a momentous trip seeing where it all began. Seeing where Disney theme parks were born! DLR is my home park so I love it so so much! I was there this weekend w my mama and it was definitely a chilly/rainier than usual one. I regret not buying extra socks there bc I may have splashed on purpose in a Main Street puddle or two and had to tap out lol. Disneyland in the rain is next level magical but also frigid. Also! LGB (Long Beach) is only about 20 minutes extra of a drive than SNA (Santa Ana/Orange County) for next time (hopefully!!) if you’d like to widen your direct flights to/from DAL. ♥️ ✈️

@@BlairLamb yes that would be really nice in the summer but I meant the airport! You can fly between DAL and either LGB or SNA interchangeably to get to and from Disneyland! LGB is also a nice small stress free airport that and SNA are my absolute faves. You get to walk on the tarmac to get to the plane in LGB which is a cool travel event in and of itself lol. The difference in drive time between that and SNA can be as little as 10 minutes extra. 🙌🏽

We love Disneyland....living in Missouri we fly to both Disney World and/or Disneyland....just a little longer flight to Disneyland.....we have stayed at Disneyland Hotel and Grand California a few times.....I'd recommend The Carnation Cafe restaurant on Main St. USA, we love that restaurant. So exciting, can't wait to see pics. And yes we always fly into John Wayne. We have also fallen in love with Universal Studios in FL, we went in March and did a couple days at DisneyWorld too and in June going back to just Universal for a week and staying on property at either park is key!

None of us have ever been to Disneyland, although we make a yearly trip to Disney World and have lots of experience there. So excited for your next Disneyland videos!

Just for future reference- Ontario airport is another good option for Disneyland if the flight times are better. It’s a little further away but small like John Wayne.

Disneyland is TRULY magical. Unlike any other park. Look for the Little Leprechaun Man's House. It's in the base of the Indian Jones Ride Sign. Such a neat find and great for little. Blue Bayou has an incredibly SMALL menu and not sure kids friendly. it's also very dark inside.. Sitting near the water for the ride can be a longer wait -- Still Fun. Jolly Holiday for Iconic grilled cheese and tomato soup is a must. You don't regret it. Churros is Disneyland are FAR SUPERIOR to World. try one..-- Enjoy.. -- Monique

Hi Monique! We truly loved DLR. Our 2 year old was asleep in his stroller through our Blue Bayou meal, which ended up being great timing because we were able to relax and enjoy the meal and atmosphere with our 4 year old. We LOVED it!

You will love it! We have been to WDW probably 15 times and this past February went to DL/DCA for the first time! It is amazing and so easy to navigate!

Disneyland is my home park. We live in Utah. It’s just a lot easier to get to. We grew up road tripping there, but now with 2 young kids we definitely fly into SNA! We always stay at the Courtyard Marriott! I love Cafe Orleans, Carnation Cafe deep fried pickles, and churro toffee, of course. My favorite rides are Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout, It’s A Small World, and Haunted Mansion. So sad it’s closed for you! My sister, mom and I are going to WDW on a girls trip in June! Cannot wait! We are doing the EPCOT after hours event, and hitting all of the parks HARD in only 2 days. 😅 We’ve been before, but it will be my first time on the skyliner, GOG: Mission Rewind, Flight of Passage/Avatar, Frozen Ever After, and Remy’s. It’s been 10 Years since I was last there! I can’t wait!

Blair - I visit both DL and WDW. There is something very sentimental and nostalgic about being in Walt's park. The vibe in DL is more about taking it all in versus go, go, go. Unpopular opinion, I prefer DL. Food is better, weather is easier to manage and the compact DL bubble is SO nice!

Make sure you go into the Animation Academy building in Disney California Adventure. I think a lot of WDW folks skip it because they think it's the same animation experience as Rafiki's and while they do have the drawing class, the lobby area is amazing. Just go stand in there for like 5-10 minutes and you'll be surrounded by Disney magic.

Looks like you all had a magical time! We booked a VERY last minute trip to Universal Orlando and I am very much looking forward to not being on my phone constantly like we have to be in WDW. I know there's still Genie+ in DL, but but like you said, it seems much more flexible and less complicated than WDW. Though I must admit. My planning heart has been a bit sad that there aren't been much planning involved.

Sounds like you may be going to the character breakfast at Storytellers at the Gramd. It’s a fun one and I’m sure you and your family will enjoy it! (The lunch and dinner are also very good!) I’m a regular at Disneyland/DCA. There are so many places to eat, many are just walk up. Downtown Disney is currently under remodel, but many things remain open. Unfortunately for Riley our Haunted Mansion is closed due to refurbishment/expansion. You mentioning the nostalgia, that’s one reason why I love Disneyland so much. I’ve done the tour Walk in Walt’s footsteps and I loved it. In the Great Moments with Mr Lincoln, as you walk out, they have Walt’s last photo taken at the parks before his death. And I still glance at his apartment knowing his spirit is still there watching over his beloved Disneyland. Have an amazing time! I can’t wait to see all your coverage!

I think you will be pleased with your airport and hotel choices 🙌 the Grand Californian is nice for the restaurant and private park entrance, but there’s nothing like the feeling at the Disneyland hotel.

It's exactly the same! Except in order to make the first LL selection, you have to be in the park. Everything else is extremely similar if not identical!
