Our first ever Daddy Daughter Date

Sunny is not in a "dada phase" right now.. so I took her on our first, of many, daughter/daughter dates! This was some of the best quality time I've had with her and honestly, I cannot wait to do it again. I think she kinda likes me now too! :)

Sunny's hair turned blonde, such a big change from all the dark hair when she was born, lol. She is such a cutie, Jack and Sunny both are adorable. Sarah, keep that red hair, it looks so natural on you and really brings out your eyes and skin tone. I went from an auburn to red and kept is red for many years until it got to much to cover the gray. Well know I am mostly snow white and I love it.

She looks good with Blonde hair too, maybe she could tone down the blonde shade. She did say the reason she wants to go back to blonde is because the red is too high maintenance to keep up and the color fades quick. I have never colored my hair, I am a natural blonde.

Yes.. my son hair looked black, then as he grew, it become a dark chocolate brown. U can see the difference between his hair and a black haired person. Just have him sit next to one. The idea that hair changes only from light to dark seems to be a myth....

@staceyerikson4982 it's very rare, genetics is an odd thing to mess with. But nothing is impossible. The dominant gene is dark, but unless there is a hidden gene tucked away. It would make sunny a very rare child. I never seen a child go from dark to light, it's normally light to dark.

Girls that have their father's in their lives have no idea how lucky they are. I was raised by ny stepfather, met my biological father when I was 16. My relationship with both of them was ok but not great. I am 56 now and they both have been gone for years now. Whenever I see a dad make an effort to be in his daughters life, I fill up with tears of joy for her. Well done Derek, please do everything you can with her. She will remember ❤

My dad was in my life for my whole life, and I was the luckiest person in the world. I’m 66 now and l lost my dad on my bday in 2017, I took care of him after my mom passed in 2014, no where else on earth would I have rather been than taking care of him!!! He always took time to teach me stuff ( I was a tomboy) we used to joke I was the son he never had! 😂 My 3 sons were lucky to have had him as their role model!! I miss him terribly 😢, but he’s back with his pretty girl (mom) they were married 67 years when she died. I miss them both so very much, I was truly lucky and I knew it from the time I was young!!!❤

Sunny is definitely Derik’s mini me. 💗 I love that Derik makes sure to spend special time one on one with Jack and with Sunny. 💞 And pro tip for Sarah, yes, don’t go to the grocery store hungry! But if you do end up going when you are hungry, get a protein bar and eat it while you are shopping. Just hold onto the wrapper so that the cashier can ring it up for you along with your groceries. It will save you from buying items not on your list that you don’t need. 🥰

Just a tip for your floors when using markers, crayons, etc. Pick up a cheap plastic tablecloth just for putting down on your floor first then the coloring mat, papers, etc. Of course, keep it in a zip lock storage bag, just for saving the floor, carpet, etc.😊❤

Derik, sweetie, let me tell you...when my granddaughter was born she wouldn't go to anybody, I mean anybody but her mom. My son was heartbroken. But by the time she was 2 she was asking for daddy, running to him when he got home from work. He has become her hero and she melts his heart. She is getting ready to turn 6 in a few days and now he is her protector, her jungle gym, playmate and definitely daddy cause when she misbehaves the serious daddy comes out, explaining, talking, telling her why what she did was wrong and we can't have that. It just breaks my heart that Derek thinks he has to win Sunny over. She is just going through a phase right now. The time's going to come when she's going to be a Daddy's girl. I think some of the reason she's so attached to Sarah or wants Sarah so much is because Sarah is gone a lot and Derek is the one at home. It's great to have one-on-one time with each child but taking them out to buy them whatever they want so that they will like you and want to spend time with you is not the answer. I have been watching since Jack was born. They have definitely gone through a lot of changes. I hate to hear Derek say that he's got to win Sunny over. No he doesn't. He just needs to calm down and just be there and be a Dad. She is just going through a phase and it will pass. Also I think it's time to get rid of the binky. She can walk and talk and take the binky out when she's got something to say so it's time to slowly start getting rid of it. Why in the world was she dressed like that to go out for the day. I'm sure she has some adorable clothes. They were never like this with Jack. I don't understand what's going on with Sunny. When they announced it was a girl I really thought that they would have her all dolled up. I don't understand why they do it unless it's for ratings. When Jack was little and they lived in Hawaii their apt. was not nearly as messy as the house. What's up with leaving the cabinet doors open? I know Sarah said it was going to be a clean up later kind of day. A lot of that stuff had already been there for a while. The clothes laying on the laundry room floor when Sarah came in I'm surprised she didn't trip over them. I'm sure there's going to be comments and I'll be called Karen. But at least I'm being honest

I personally just think this young family has been out of wack if you will. The last couple of videos the vibe has been off. Every couple goes through it but every couple doesn't have to keep filming to make a paycheck. They will work through it I'm sure. Especially now that Derek can walk. I was happy to see them letting the kids play while not stressing about the mess they were making.
