I _love_ Izak's babbling and happy screaming, and I can so see him merrily waving goodbye to you and setting off to leave with whoever comes by. My best friend's oldest was just like that (and, frankly, is still pretty much like that now, at 30, as are his two adorable sons.)

I have a chain with a wooden handle - it pulls a lever in the cistern - water pours into the bowl. It's worked perfectly for over 40 years. There's surprisingly little to go wrong - but if it ever did break, I think it would cost 2 euros to replace the chain.

Even though the bathroom is the place you spend the least time in it's still the most expensive thing to build, i mean i use my bedroom about 8x more but it cost 12x less ffs......

I’d love some experts chiming in on the prices of bathroom/kitchen stuff. I don’t know anything but it feels like you pay at least 50% more just for design...

The problem I have with those Gerberit buttons is that they give you these 2 options...full flush (more water) and half flush that doesn't seem to work as it's not enough water. My one drives me nuts!. For the money, I'd rather have a good old fashioned lever at less than a quarter of the price! These units must be popular in Europe only because, you wouldn't find them so much in the UK...

I laughed SO HARD at the applause. Oh, and bidets ... Are they really european thing? I can't tell you how many people asked us "well, why do you need a bidet?" when we were renovating. And I was like ... I mean, really, don't ask questions you don't want to actually hear answers to.

I would not say that they are a European thing because the use of the bidet isn't implement in our culture so much. For example muslims use them for religious reasons more then Europeans for any reason. In our bathrooms they are just decoration at the end. I would rather use it to wash my feet foe example rather than we know what.

I was about to comment the same on the Muslim or I guess Arab culture in general. Well in my family growing up in Slovenia in the 80s we all used bidet instead of a shower or if you had a particularly messy No. 2 (I love creative ways to avoid using more direct descriptions 😅). Now living in Uruguay where toilet paper is not cheap at all and under the quarantine avoiding nonessential trips to the store we use it almost exclusively after No. 2. You use paper for bigger particles and the rest you just wash away. It’s more hygienic, better for your skin, environmentally friendly and economic. From my understanding in Arab countries they have traditionally a large jar of water beside the toilet. I’m assuming bidets came later. So for them was from practical reasons more than anything else. It’s great for the feet as well. In Finland they use a hand shower attached to the toilet - even some of the public ones and at the office (I don’t remember seeing a bidet). In Slovenia we had the one with a movable nozzle (I hope that’s the word) in front while in Uruguay they have the ones where the water springs from the bottom. If you open it full on it will reach the ceiling! In Japan, I’ve heard a couple of westerns talking about this, have standardized toilets with build in washing program. Imagine car wash without brushes. Nozzles will wash your behind and ado dry it. So you sit down, do your business, press some buttons and stand up squeaky clean without ever touching anything but those buttons. 😁

Also, forgot to mention, I find that less developed countries do not have well designed sewage system and it will clog very easily. So it is very important not to throw anything else into the toilet except human excrements.

Sometime, I am VERRRY WORRIED about you, when you are SOOO TIRED, almost wish to be in vicinity to hold you for a sec; in the car, when you are still about to take the first coffee sip, it is still SOOO OBVIOUS how tired you are - since I'm not some believer, it is useless to pray for you, so - Keep up, Cali Girl ...
