In today’s video, we hiked North Fork Trail in Eagle River, Alaska. This trail was just as cold as it was gorgeous, with the temperatures reaching -13°F! Walking this trail felt like we were in a winter wonderland with beautiful snow covered trees and flowing, yet frozen rivers.
Hi, we are Emily and Matt, and welcome to A Glimpse of Alaska! In September 2022, we (along with our 8 month old puppy Aurora) made the nearly 5,000 mile drive from our home in Florida to our new home: Alaska. We created this channel to document and share our adventures in this wonderful state.
We appreciate each and every person who spent time out of their day to watch this video! If you enjoyed this video please consider liking and subscribing to our channel. We will be continuing to document all of our Alaskan adventures including hiking, fishing, gardening, and so much more!
If you would like to donate any amount to us, to help us continue to create content, it would be greatly appreciated! You can do so here: www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted...

Also look up crust skiing Alaska. This old style blog is about skiing the spring crust and has details about areas to go and has tons of advise.

Good News! The worst thing about moving to such a cold, snowy state is not embracing it! Get wider skis for flotation and NNN BC/NNN xplor($$) system. REI or Alaska Mountaineering should do you two right.

Coming from Florida, had you driven on ice and snow before?

Hi! Yes, briefly. We’ve driven around half the country before we moved here. Sometimes that meant driving in snow and ice. Thank you for watching!

Matt!!!! please don't be dumb like that again! When you are reckless like that you put Emily in jeopardy of losing you! There are places in Eagle River where the water doesn't freeze. The Nature Center .... I can't tell if that is where you are or not. The parking lot doesn't look familiar, but I remember they put in a new lot a couple of years ago. The drive there looked like it could be on the way to the Nature Center... but I can't tell yet by min 6:52 at least. lol
