Our first impressions exploring Lima, Peru (Miraflores - Larcomar)

After catching up on some much-needed sleep after our eight-hour flight, we were off to explore Lima, Peru. Where we are staying, in the Miraflores area, is one of the most desirable parts of the city. Within a short walking distance, we found ourselves visiting Larcomar shopping center situated against a cliff overlooking the ocean.

From scenic views to people watching it was a place we could relax and acquaint ourselves with Lima. With paragliders soaring above us, we felt somewhat inspired to potentially try this ourselves one of these days. Aside from the paragliding, it was just nice to be wearing shorts and t-shirts for the first time in 2015. We would have filmed more of the parks, people and landmarks, however, our camera battery died. This whole travel thing isn't as easy at looks and we're admittedly rather rusty these days.
Our first impressions of Miraflores (Larcomar) in Lima, Peru travel video transcript:
So first full day in Lima. We got in last night at like 2am and we got some rest, so this morning we are out exploring. We're actually staying in the neighborhood of Miraflores so we're just going for a walk and we're going to show you some of the parks, the beach and it is so nice to be getting some sunshine guys. After that brutal Canadian winter this is bliss.
Now talk about a change. I'm actually wearing shorts and t-shirts for the first time in 2015. Oooh, show us the outfit. Woo Hoo!
So we're noticing some amazing paragliding. These paragliders are just going right out over these tall buildings and then going right out over the ocean. It looks fantastic. Neither of us have done paragliding so far in our lives but we may just be tempted to give it a shot.
So right now we are visiting Larcomar which is like a shopping center that sits right over the cliff overlooking the sea. It's a pretty good location.
And then our camera battery died because we forgot to charge it, so that is all we can show you today. But we will be exploring more of the neighborhood in the days to come, so stay posted for that.

Was there back in 2007; I sure miss Lima a lot. Not just Miraflores and Larco Mar but the children I visited in Nueva Imagen....which is located in the poorer district of Lima just off San Juan de Lurigancho! I am pleased to report that that little community is now "graduating" the program to rehabilitate and self-sustain and now are able to help themselves! :D Nice video!

OMG I LOVE PERU! Especially Lima! My grandmother lived there and her house is so beautiful, she lives with my uncle and aunt and also my cousin who has an apartment connected to her house! Plus she has like so many cats but it's all good :) I just love the environment and the smell and it makes me feel like I'm at home but I live in the US so whenever I watch a Spanish commercial I just think of how much of a great time I've had in Peru! Also I TOTALLY recommend going to Mango near Larcomar I think, where you were just at and its a restaurant called Mango and its so delicious! And don't forget the famous pollo a la brasa!

TravMonkey Hahahaha...it would be embarrassing for me to admit the amount of times I've forgotten my memory card and/or battery. Audrey actually has a system in place where she asks me (more like forces me) to check all technology before we bolt out the door. I suppose maybe she'll have to add 'battery charging' to that exhaustive and ever expanding list of clumsiness checks and balances.

Hola , excelente vídeo. Me gusta el enfoque bueno que tienden a darle a los lugares que van y eso es muestra de que ustedes son excelentes personas. Vi que hace poco fueron a lima Peru. Yo soy peruano y déjenme decirles que lo mejor de Peru no esta en lima, para la próxima intenten ir a San martin, Tarapoto , Piura , La Libertad o Cuzco, son lugares que te enseñan realmente lo que es el Peru, Yo soy peruano pero odio lima jaja. I saw recently you went to Lima Peru . I am Peruvian and let me tell you the best of peru is not on Lima, for the next attempt you must go to San Martin , Tarapoto , Piura , La Libertad or Cuzco ,these places are that really teach you what is Peru , I am Peruvian but I hate lima haha. Fueron en verano no? entre Enero y Marzo? Por eso que si les gusto Lima. Hay una diferencia enorme entre ir a Lima en Verano (Enero-Marzo), e ir en cualquier otro Momento del anio. Solo en verano el cielo se ve así, despejado, el resto del anio esta nublado y gris. Me da la impresión de que los norteamericanos suelen visitar Lima (y Peru) en esa época, mientras que los europeos lo hacen mas bien entre Junio-Agosto, y se quedan con la imagen de Lima como una ciudad gris. Me da la impresión de que los Europeos, aunque suene increíble, NO SE DAN CUENTA de que cuando llegan a Lima en Julio están en invierno, ya que suelen viajar x sudamerica empezando por Colombia, llegando en pleno verano, y luego viajan hacia el sur, esperando encontrar el mismo clima en todo el viaje, sin percatarse de que en algún momento cruzaron la linea ecuatorial.

BIGNIC Thanks! We´ll definitely do cost run downs for food and any activities we try. Unfortunately, we´re staying with relatives for free right now so we won´t be able to do that for accommodations.

BIGNIC depends on the neighborhood. in miraflores expect to play about the same in the city like charlotte, nc or houston, tx. i live in a little part called santa beatriz. i pay $333 a month for a studio apartment everything included fully furnished. theres dozens of little "menus" to eat for like $3-4. thats appetizer, entree, beverage and sometimes desert. going to the local markets is the best option for food.

+Joe Huarniz , Plese let me share my recoomendation as peruvian is to wear a good sunblocked, here in Lima a good sunblock Price is 25 dollars, we have Laroche posay, Eucerin, etc. Summer is the best time for visit LIMA, PERU, the beaches are beautiful and the prices for a relaxing beautiful trip are really good, also our cousine and many sports we are lately developing more every day.
