I look forward to seeing each video and watching the progress being made. I'm very glad you can afford to keep all those men working an haven't run out of money and an end to your dream. I find it fascinating to see the different construction techniques used around the world to build wooden boats. There is not only one "right" way to build a boat and what your crew are doing has proven to work for many generations. I appreciate that you are open and honest about your lack of boat building knowledge and are telling us what you are learning along the way. Many who post negative comments have no experience building boats, they just watch videos of other builds and think they know far more than they do. When I built my sailboat I didn't even have electricity so everything was done with hand tools, hand saws, hand drills, hand planes, hand sanding... I do NOT recommend that method to anyone! It takes so much longer. Keep up the excellent work!
@Westwaterfall3 жыл бұрын
The skill of the carpenters... they can cut a compound, beveled, curved, super long fitted board that will be the length of the boat and get it right.... WOW! I am very impressed.

Forget the naysayers ,what a brilliant life experience , ok the boats not built to this code or that code or this or that standard. She may not last so long because this or that material was or wasn’t used . But you are having an experience you will remember all your lives and very few people get to say that . 99% of people who say they “ built a boat “ really mean they handed over huge wads of cash to a boat builder , designed their own cushions and then sat back waiting for it to be delivered . I’m sure you will get just as much joy or more from Yaba as those who chuck a couple of million the way of a builder only to trade it in in a year because the showers not big enough or their aren’t enough refrigerators . Respect to your team of builders and to you . Enjoy the journey .

There is a lot to building boats than people realize and then it's as you say, hand over a wad of cash and wait for it to happen.

great videos! A thought. Remember to size the galley and heads to accommodate the number of people aboard. Surely, some will want to help with cooking so they will need room to work also. Add more LED lights than you think you will need. ...easy to add now; harder to do later. you may also want to wire in numerous 12volt air fans in each space in the boat to keep air circulating. Also consider plenty of outside air to ventilate in/out of each area. evens out the temperatures and helps prevent mold.

Cuide bem dele. Um abração.

You don't want a sealed, unventilated space on a wooden boat, if that's what you're intending for the bulkhead - it will be a rot breeding zone. Put a couple of hatches on one side so the space can be kept aired out

How are you going to circulate air inside those bulkheads? If you completely seal those areas and don’t provide for air circulation you are creating a perfect environment for rot and mildew and will be doing a new rebuild in a few years. Be sure to put a hatch or other ventilation over that area. Plus, it’ll make for great storage!!

You should definitely put in some way to close off the below decks instead of leaving it completely open. When it's unbearably hot/cold out, it'll be nice to have that retreat and it's much easier to control the temperature of a smaller space.
