Greece is heaven. My favorite country in the world. Many people don't know actually the true outrageously beautiful Greece. I have been there 50 times. So what I can say is, Greece doesn't have only 6000 magical islands each unique and more diverse than any other island group you will ever come across in the world as every Greek island has a totally different feel to it. One can be volcanic, one can be geological paradise, one can be completely covered with virgin forests, one can be extremely rugged and wild, one can be extremely mountainous even though Greece is 80% mountainous and therefor extremely mountainous to begin with. One can be containing a desert, one can have the only natural palm forests in Europe, and so on and so on. But then you have the incredible mainland equally beautiful and extremely diverse. Greece lies on 4 tectonic earthplates coming together in Greece. The African, European, Asian and a 4th plate that got crushed, all comes together in Greece and it's seas. So that is why Greece has 80% mountains and a extremely complex geography and topography. Greece has 16.000km of the most crystal clear and extremely diverse coastlines in the world, 400 wetlands, 15.000 caves, 18.000 registered archaeological sites which is one of the 3 most archaeology rich countries in the world and having the most history museums in the world. Greece also is one of the most hotspring rich countries in the world with 800 natural hotsprings Then you have truly divine food and the most warmhearted people you can find on the planet. So if Greece has vast mountains (snowcapped in winter and spring), the most spectacular seas, many mountain lakes, rivers, caves, wetlands, hotsprings, geological paradises, volcano's, unparalleled history, incredible culture, heavenly food, warmhearted people, but in a way that is truly magical. That is what Greece is. *And you know what makes Greece more special? ALL these things I mentioned you can do on a single day. Because there are very very few countries on this planet with this kind of combination. And what makes Greece even more wonderful is that you don't have to travel 1200 km for the first seas, 800km for the first mountains, or 300 km for the first archaeological sites. In Greece you can do any of it every single day in all corners of the country*

Thank you so much for your so kind words. I am a greek and I have never ever read a better description of Greece than this. So thanks again. Also I will add something more. In Greece there is something called """ filotimo"" and no matter how much you try to find this word in the dictionary you won't find it. It has to do with the mentality of people. It is the pride the kind heart and willingness to help all in one. :))))

I went to Greece last year for my birthday! Flew in to London Heathrow to Frankfurt and then to Santorini. I explored Santorini for the first 2 days via city bus (2 euros to explore the whole of Santorini) and the second day I had a tour guide driver to visit 3 wine museums and Perissa Beach. The next day I took a Seajet ferry to Mykynos and Naxos and then came back to Santorini on day 5. I stayed in Akrotiri overlooking the Aegean sea...Absolutely stunning views! My only experience with Athens was limited because instead of going through London I flew out of Athens back to the states. However, I saw that all throughout Greece the buses were very crowded...some of us sat on the steps and some of us had to stand. 😅 Other than that Greece was absolutely amazing for me and I will definitely return!! As always, thank you soooo much for sharing your experience!!!🥰🤗

Greece is so beautiful. There is so much to see there and only so much you can do in that short time. You can only do so much. That’s where my family is from and I had lived there for a few years. Food is amazing. Food in Europe is way better than America. Everything is organic, and fresh. Syntagma square wasn’t too far from you guys. It’s a great historical place worth seeing. I was gonna say you need to visit the islands and I see you are going to Mykonos, Santorini and Crete. Those are definitely my top three! So I’m glad you get to explore that. Good job guys welcome to Greece! 😀 Erechthion: The current form of the temple dates between 421 and 406 BC. Its architect was probably Mnisiklis and the building owes its name to an altar dedicated to the legendary hero Erichthonius. The sculptor of the building was Phidias, who was appointed by Pericles to decorate the Erechthion and the Parthenon. There are some who claim that the temple was built in honour of King Erectheus, who is believed to have been buried nearby. Eretheus is mentioned in Homer's Iliad as a great king and ruler of Athens during the Archaic period, and often Eretheus and Erichthonius were often identified. It is believed that the temple replaced the Sanctuary of Polyad Athena, which was built under Pisistratids and destroyed by the Persians in 480 BC.

If you walk around Acropolis, Dionysiou Aeropagitou and outside of Herodes theater at night is magical. And then have a drink at a terrace near Monastiraki with the Acropolis view is my best! You can definetely eat very well in Athens and in Greece in general as long as you know where. At the restrooms we rarely have someone to tip, I guess it's only at touristic places and you can leave tips 1-2euros but you can also not.
