The popular food market is actually one that happens just near your hotel-- it's called Salcedo Saturday Market. Happens every Saturday but only half a day. They usually close by 2 pm (if there is still supply). There's also a Legazpi Sunday Market (same concept) and it's beside the Salcedo community, closer to Greenbelt (a mall you should visit, btw). Mercato isn't as popular as it used to be. A lot of their good vendors are now restaurants (that's how they started -- sort of like a test drive market) to introduce new stuff. But not anymore.

Pinipig Polvoron is really good. Pinipig is from rice before it ripened and harvested while still green it was processed by heating and pounding until become crunchy. It is usually process locally in rice- producing provinces. Polvoron is made of starch heated in a pan and mixed with milk butter and sugar. Cheers for more food and delicacies of the PH.

the polvoron is considered a dessert, but usually i have it with something else so its not as dry... you'll have a adventure, recently(last 3years) me and wife have been going back every year to reconnect to our roots. we have only touched the tip of the iceberg on what the islands have to offer...

Dont stay long in the city. it's more fun in the islands. Cebu (Bantayan island, Moalboal - swimming w/turtles and sardines, oslob swimming w/whale sharks, Kawasan falls. One boat ride away Siquijor island beautiful beach and waterfalls. One boat ride away bohol island. Siargao island, boracay island + Romblom island. Palawan island.
