All your questions are answered in the song. The song illustrates the dynamics of their rise. With sensitive respect... utilize the internet for research & do not rely on one source or the unqualified word of mouth. To gain knowledge it requires reading articles about music, the climate of culture, in this case the 90’s, and singers personal and musical history. Learn about the cities and states in relation to an artist or genre. This will give you the full experience next time you listen to another song. It is unwise to rely or expect to really L.E.A.R.N. based on asking one’s audience to do the educating. Back in the day we read a lot more by today’s standards. There were magazines, interviews, short documentaries and going to concerts. We’d blaze-up & scrutinized with fierce attention for the moral/s in a song. We didn’t just consume music for ex. like a televised sport. We did not haplessly depend on each to understand. As an ardent subscriber, to your channel, and a hip-hop/Rap O.G. I strongly encourage you take on this endeavor. I enjoy your reactions and luv that you share it with us all. It’s commands respect. Thank you and stay blessed my brothers. Cali vibes your way XOXO‼️#FightThePower

You can hear them and hear that they’re from nyc off of accent, production, scenery, slang, bar structure all that. Chicago not on that level then or now respectfully. Also life was hard back then in nyc. Nothing like Chicago then or now. Much rougher although Chicago has been bad too just apples and oranges back then
