The mindset of a tiny home What do you need? I went from 120 sq meter 2 bedroom house to a 45 foot boat then to a 10 sq meters cabin. In that journey I off loaded lots of crap I did not need . The ""I" is still here. Nowadays its a large house in Northland NZ with the bush and birds outside the door. The lesions I learnt from down sizing will stay with me forever .

All NZ streets are small! I am so pleased you made it to NZ. And yes, Queenstown is beautiful; never bungy jumped, never will. I did do the helicopter Shotover river jet boat ride 2nd trip and the rapid rafting, not on the Shotover as it was closed due to flooding on my first trip to Queenstown. look forward to your second video.

This video brings back so many wonderful memories from my time in Queenstown. The views there are out of this world and I totally agree that it feels so unreal while also feeling so familiar at the same time. What I would have recommended doing is getting the toboggan down the mountain - it was honestly so fun! Really looking forward to this series, least of all for my own enjoyment and memories, but also to see you guys really enjoying it!

Thank you your comments on the inconvenience of staying independent from a hotel. We are building a couple of quest cottages on our off the grid property in the Far North of New Zealand. I have been considering supplying fresh organic fruit n veg, cereal etc in a complimentary basket for our quests as we live quite remote by NZ standards. Fortunately we can now legally build up to 30m2 cabins now, so our cabins will be a bit more comfortable. Just a comment as well on that very small log fireplace in the tiny house. Fire places have to be installed by professionals and a permit is required by council. So yes, the fire is safe to use.

I got on the sky train in Bangkok one day, we were only visiting for 3 days and who should get into our carriage but the boyfriend of our friend and they don't even live in Bangkok. Now you know how busy the sky train is and how frequently it runs, what was the odds of him getting on that same carriage on the same day as us 🤯

Congratulations on Country 100! Great choice, New Zealand is a very interesting place to visit! Debate is which direction to start North to South Island or vice versa!
@user-uy6uc5ey5q2 жыл бұрын
There's only 2 large international airports with lots of international connections - Auckland in the north of the North Island which is the major population centre in the country with about 1/4 of the total pop living there. Then Christchurch, which is on the middle of the South Island east coast, and the South Island largest city. Theres 2 other smaller international airports, Wellington, the capital (and my home town) at the bottom of the North Island ,and Queenstown (which is in inland & about 1/3 from the bottom of the south Island). Wellington and Queenstown both have physical limitations to their runway length so pretty much the only international flights are from Australia (about 3 hrs flight away). Due these logistical limits it means generally you either fly to Auckland or Christchurch and then travel round and leave from the other, of the same you flew in to. The other thing to bear in mind is the you need a minimum of 2 and half weeks to do both Islands and thats missing out a lot of amazing places and activities and doing a lot of long days driving or taking flights between regional airports. If you have 2 weeks or less you are much better just picking one island and leave visiting the other to another trip.

Love that view! ⛰ I can't even imagine living in a place like that where you can enjoy such views every single day (typed from the flat and drab Netherlands 🤣). I remember the Sims as well. For some reason, I used to enjoy designing the Sims' homes more than "playing" with the Sims themselves. One weird thing I used to do is design a house with a first floor and then remove the ground floor so you'd be left with a kind of floating house with just a staircase going straight up. Only in the Sims. 😆

In Queensland one of the Northern states of Australia there are many houses with that very design you had, called rather unimaginatively, Queenslanders. As the State has a either tropical or semi tropical climate, before Air-conditioning, building on stilts allows air to circulate under the House to cool it down. Also lowered the amount of large spiders and snakes that came in the house as well.

Well known for it LGBTQ friendliness. I think the country is rated the 14th most dangerous for gay people in the world, and they could be imprisoned under the country's laws. As they wouldn't be able to rent a room and share the same bed, plus as US passport holders theres the risk of kidnapping as well I suspect you be waiting awhile.
