"I got chills!".....you guys screamed out......it's worthy of screaming out especially if you consider that Cher did her first recording in 1963, singing backup for "Be My Baby" by the Ronettes and "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling" by the Righteous Brothers.....before she even recorded the monster hit "I Got You Babe" in 1965!

This song really made vocoders mainstream. Everyone did it after this. This song was HUGE.
@BreannaMae Жыл бұрын
It wasn't a vocoder. It was Auto-tune, which was invented specifically to be used on this song as a vocal effect. Then it later became used for pitch correction like we know it today.

I grew up with Sonny & Cher's music & their TV show. Sonny wrote their hits in the 60's including "Baby Don't Go", "I Got You Babe", "The Beat Goes On" & "Little Man". He also wrote the song "Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)" which Cher recorded in 1966. Other songs she did were "Half-Breed" & "Dark Lady". Cher went on to have a big solo career.
@wnsafford18542 жыл бұрын
Autotune was invented 1997 by Andy Hildebrand. Cher's 1998 Believe is 1 of the earliest uses in music & is credited as the 1st use of Autotune to intentionally distort the voice (rather than to correct it). The resulting “part human-part robotic voice” was dubbed “the Cher effect.” Hildebrand told CNN: "My thinking was, ok, I'll put that setting in the software, but I didn't think anyone in their right mind would ever use it."

Cher's got the coolest voice and knows how to use it. As for this song, I had chills too the first few times I listened to it when it first came out. Great message behind the words. Just believe in yourself. And there's always life after love. The person you were just with may not be good enough or was a complete jerk. Just believe in yourself, don't let the situation get you down and know that your better than that. And Believe in knowing there's life after love. And you have love for yourself and for the one who truly believes in you and love and themselves as well.

I first saw Cher in 67 and fell in love with her. The original diva and just uses her first name. Then the Sonny & Cher comedy show in the early 70’s. This song takes me back with the disco sound even tho it was recorded years after that era. I really enjoy the effects that was put on her voice. Great song!😎

Appreciate your reaction .... Cher, truly one of the greatest of all time! I've been blessed to see her twice in concert. She has lived the test of time, out lasted many others, and is an icon if ever there was one. Her beauty, and amazing vocals stand alone and above others. So thanks for recognizing all of that .... and yes, to this day this song gives me chills also! Even after all the times I danced to this in the clubs.

Adam Lambert sang this for Cher at The Kennedy Center Honors and brought her to tears. It barely touched how amazing his voice is. He has s successful solo career and has also been Queen's front man for close to 12 years now. There are several videos of Adam singing Believe also this summer at the shows he had in the UK. He even added The Muffin Man song into the lyrics of Believe since it went viral and thousands of people filled TikTok with videos of them singing along to the performance he did on That's My Jam. He had to sing The song The Muffin Man as Cher to the music of Believe. It was fabulous!
