I think you'd really enjoy The Batman Animated Series. The voice actor who plays Batman Kevin Conroy had a very troubled childhood as well and that helped him get into the character of Batman and develop this amazing Bruce Wayne and Batman that for many is the definitive version of the character. The show is also very deep and tackles many mature themes for a kid show and that was something Kevin really wanted to do help send a message to kids about the dangerous of the world but also show them hope and how to overcome struggles. Kevin also voiced the character throughout the whole DCAU (DC Animated Universe) which in many ways was like the MCU a connected universe made up of mostly TV shows but a few spin off films like Mask of the Phantasm. We got Superman: Animated Series an amazing show that introduced Superman and Metropolis a retro futuristic City of Tomorrow. This was followed by Static Shock a young teen drama that also dealt with heavy subjects, Batman Beyond a show set in the far future featuring Bruce Wayne as a mentor to a new Batman, Justice League a show that went back to the modem age and brought together Batman, Superman, Flash, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and Martin Manhunter to form the Justice League and expand the Animated Universe. And finally Justice League: Unlimited a series that dived more into the side Justice League members which there were alot and gave them a chance to shine beyond the main 6 founding members. Kevin voiced Batman throughout all of these shows while also voicing the character in stand alone movies beyond the DCAU and of course the amazing Batman Arkham Games. Mask of the Phantasm (1993) is a great introduction if you don't have the time to start the Animated Series. It's a stand along film that's set in the same continuity as the DCAU and was released in theatres making it a pretty big deal. But as it's stand alone you don't need to have watched the Animated Series and plus it's also got Origin elements combined with a modern day storyline so it will introduce you to the origins of the Animated Series Batman. From my understanding the modern day story is set sometime early in Season 1 around the middle.

I LOVE that dialogue! TDKR Spoilers: It also fits with a major moment in the third movie of the trilogy, when Bruce realized that to escape the Pit and rise above that seemingly impossible obstacle, he had to embrace the fear of death, by climbing without the rope. He had to fully feel the fear of death so he can rise again as the Dark Knight. Just like his dad said, all creatures feel fear, _especially_ the scary ones, even the legendary Batman.

"Banter" is where the MCU has always excelled. Without an "HAS ANYBODY GOT ANY TAPE!?!" moment, the dialogue, for a comic book character, can get tedious. Probably why the next installment is the best of all Batman movies. Ledger solved that problem. "Wanna see a magic trick?"

Okay, so fun fact: Pretty much all of the gadgets and stuff in this one were setup by Christopher Nolan with a simple premise, "Make them look like they work." Right, so the R&D people... got away with it, and made stuff that ACTUALLY worked. The throwing stars, the nomex survival suit, and ESPECIALLY the "Tumbler" actually worked, and Nolan didn't know that until they gunned it and made it jump. They had to keep reshooting the chase scene with the helicopter because the Tumbler kept losing the chopper. Like, it ACTUALLY worked.

Great trilogy to watch. They're superhero films for people who aren't fans of the superhero genre, mainly because they are less flamboyant, have great character development and a good story that wraps it up nicely with some closure by the end of the final film. For people who are fans of great films this series of films by Christopher Nolan are an excellent example of how superhero films should be done.

Having watched the 2 Tim Burton “Batman” movies and then the two Joel Schumacher “Batman” movies, I was less-than-enthused when I found out they were rebooting Batman with this film. Then, when I found out Christian Bale was going to play the lead role I was intrigued. Bale is a very good actor who had mostly been known for indie films. The way this movie was written it was more realistic than most superhero movies. Christopher Nolan is one of the best filmmakers out there and he has made the best “Batman” movies to date IMHO. The tone is perfect. They’re not cartoonish or campy nor are they extremely dark. Nolan found the right balance and happy medium. Great reaction! You’re going to love “The Dark Knight”. Heath Ledger is phenomenal as The Joker.

By far the best film in the Nolan trilogy from it's depiction of Gotham to it's tone and really solid art direction it's my personal favourite out of the three films. Dark Knight dropped the ball when it came to it's depiction of Gotham and overall tone compared to Begins while Bales Batman was a little too much in the later films and I just never liked him as Batman, Loved him as Bruce Wayne. The Dark Knight Rises suffers from this as well but I still enjoy all three just prefer Batman Begins. I feel like the Nolan films both brought Batman back to live action films after Batman & Robin while also warping the imagine of Batman's and his mythos. Alot of people only know Batman to be this very "grounded" as they say mythos as they were introduced to the character with these films but in reality it's far from being "grounded". Gotham City is not meant to be a generic American City but it's own city with it's own very fantastical, supernatural history and amazing Gothic meets Art Deco architecture. The films, more so the later ones tried a little too much to be grounded to the point where they striped away alot of the personality of the comics from the city of Gotham to some of it's villains. But I still love these films it's just funny seeing people who were introduced to Batman with this trilogy go on to read the comics and meet characters like Clayface or see how Gotham is depicted in the comics with Blimps and a timeless hybrid of the 1930s meets modern day, old meets new look. Often leads to them saying "This is nothing like the movies" and it's a shame as I would love to see this aspect of Batman explored for once in films done well. The Animated Series in live action is what I'm looking for in a live action Batman film.

I'm one of those people who feels this is the best of the Dark Knight Trilogy, mainly because it's so focused on Bruce's origin, and I love Cillian Murphy's Scarecrow. Batman and Daredevil have a lot in common because of one man, Frank Miller. Frank made Batman Year One, which this movie takes alot cues from, and he wrote the Daredevil run, that made the character who he is to this day, both of which were around the same point in time in the 80's. Also another man who influenced both is Jeph Loeb. Jeph wrote another story that influenced this, Batman: The Long Halloween, and his Daredevil story, Daredevil Yellow, didn't have a huge impact on the character, but it's up there.✍🏽🎞🦇🔥💯

Facts. Also the overall tone and art direction of this film is much more gothic and unique than the later two films that venture more into the idea that Gotham could be any city so they removed alot of the personality to make it come across as a more "generic American City" similar to The Matrix. Batman Begins just feels more like a Batman film while the sequel feel more like crime films that just happen to feature Batman. This is also my favourite performance of Bale in the trilogy as Batman and I personally prefer the Begins Batman as well compared to the later suits that kind of loss alot of the look of Batman behind the overdesigned body armour.

One of the issues this trilogy has is Rā's al Ghūl not being Arabic as he is described in the comics, the Animated Series and the Arkham games. Also, the name Rā's al Ghūl is Arabic for "The Demon's Head". The Arabic pronunciation for the first syllable is "Rah-us". The character's creator however chose to use the Hebrew pronunciation "Raysh". Also the whole "I won't kill you, but I don't have to save you" is widely hated by fans. Batman in the comics goes out of his way to save criminals even when their lives are in danger which is a core essential of his character. These films also totally mishandled Scarecrow. Jonathan Crane was initially billed as the main villain of Batman Begins, before the reveal that Ra's al Ghul is the real mastermind. Scarecrow is one of Batman's greatest rogues, but the films he's appeared in would not have you think so. I really hope Matt Reeves uses him in the future now has the perfect opportunity to redeem the character after the Christopher Nolan films brutally underused him.
@FLQueerLiberal1982
@FLQueerLiberal1982 Жыл бұрын
I had no complaints about him not saving Ra's. It's not the same as killing him, or anyone else for that matter. In the comics, it makes sense because you don't want to kill off a lot of villains. If he doesn't kill kill them, and he saves them, then they'll be around for another story arch. But morally speaking, not saving Ra's was appropriate. He saved him once before, and how was he rewarded? Left to die in a blaze. And with Ra's' power and resources, he would have escaped and tried again. He himself had already admitted that the League had infiltrated every level of Gotham's government and police. It's funny, Batman fans don't seem to complain about instances like in Tim Burton's two films where he just outright kills people. Or in BvS when he brands some of them, knowing full well that they will end up being killed in prison for being branded. But also, this was his first year as Batman. Perhaps it was something that later grew to nag at his conscience, and changed him.
@The_Phantasm
@The_Phantasm Жыл бұрын
@@FLQueerLiberal1982 It does not matter if it makes sense for Batman to kill because if that were the case it makes even more sense for him to kill the Joker and YET he doesn't ever and I don't just mean in the film. Batman would never kill and always goes out of his way to save his villains even when their lives are in danger. It's antithetical to Batman's character. It's why the line from Batman Begins "I won't kill you but I don't have to save you" is one of the worst lines in the entire series. Also regarding the Burton film and BVS, of course people have complained about Batman killing. It's one of the elements of the Burton movies that hasn't aged well and everyone criticized BVS for a plethora of reasons.
@Swamimel97
@Swamimel97 Жыл бұрын
@@The_Phantasm This version of him could very well have a new interpretations of some of Batman moral stances, some shades maybe. I do think they are pratically identical in almost every way, at least broadly, to the comics... but not saving him for the second time it makes all the sense in the world, especially since this is a very realistic adaptation of the character. You don't make the same mistake twice, no matter who you are, and it's not the same of killing him. He even gave him a chance to escape by breaking the window before taking off, Ras al Gul chose to die at the end, accepting defeat. Now of course a normal man wouldn't stand a chance of surviving something like that, especially at that speed, but since it was him, it's implied by the movie that he had a chance of survival by escaping the train at the last minute, he just chose not to. Batman gave him a chance to save himself essentially. In the real world, this action is the most human thing you can do to such a villain without looking like and absolute idiot by saving him again and make the cycle happen all over again. Plus, it's a very cool line, and perfectly fitting for a man with great compassion but again, not an idiot.

Interesting commentary. Your placing blame on Thomas Wayne is misguided. Problems in the world persist because of insistence on virtue blaming. " Why do we fall? So we can learn to pick ourselves up." That's a lesson that teaches courage in the face of adversity even evil. Compassion is stronger than cruelty. Perhaps it's your intention to be more Ras Al Guhl in which you value vengeance over actual justice.

This is the only Batman movie I like. I think you got one point so wrong:. Ra's al Ghul was no kind of father to Bruce. Thomas Wayne did not beg for his life; he was asking for his family to not be harmed and the thief with a gun responded by shooting his wife. Thomas steps in front of his wife to take the bullet aimed at her. That's the father I admire,. It is not at all the evil Ra's couching his actions as if it's tough love and trying to turn Bruce against his father by blaming Thomas for his own death and that of his wife. That's true evil. Ra's actions against Gotham started with the death of the man trying to save Gotham (Thomas Wayne). It was clear to me that the gangsters of Gotham -- including the man who murdered the Waynes -- were controlled and/or approved by Ra's. Makes me wonder if that was Ra's getting his competition out of his way. It adds another layer of evil over the way he treated Bruce. He wanted Bruce to join him in his madness for domination. Thomas raised his son to be resilient --"Why do we fall, Bruce? So we can learn to pick ourselves up." And Bruce does fall and picks himself up. Arthur takes up as father figure for Bruce after Thomas' death, wanting Bruce to be just as honorable, compassionate, resilient, and ethical. These are the gifts a nurturing father passes on to his children. While Arthur is the nurturer, Fox is the provider, giving the child what he needs to survive. Nothing wrong with having two parents, I think.

You've a good grasp of Batman. Well Done! Have seen many 'Batman movies' Love this version. The best '1st Batman movie' of them all. (It's complicated) Two small issues w/it. (Spotlight glass is close to 1,600 deg. (8,871c) You're not putting a human body on it. & (Aluminum rail cars don't take out reinforced concrete pillars.

Nice comparison to the myth of Sisyphus if you didn't say "infinity". Infinity is not a unit of time. I think you meant to say "eternity".

Most of this movie was filmed in Chicago. You can avoid most of the other DC movies. But I can personally recommend Superman I & II (Christopher Reeve), Wonder Woman, Aquaman and the first Shazam. Avoid the rest.
