Gorillaz are a virtual band started by the lead singer of Blur and the animator of some famous animes. The members are 2-D, the singer and keyboardist... Murdoc, the bassist... Russel, the drummer... and Noodle, the guitarist and background vocals and occasional lead vocals. 2-D lost both of his eyes due to incidents caused by Murdoc. Murdoc is a bully/asshole and bosses 2-D around. They are both British. Russel is a hip-hop drummer from L.A. who is possessed by his dead friend, Del the Funky Homosapian, who you'll meet in the song "Clint Eastwood". Noodle is a Japanese girl who joined the band when she was FedEx shipped in a box to Murdoc's home when she was 10. She's the one on the windmill island playing the guitar in the video. To hear her lead vocals, check out: "19-2000 (Soul Child Remix)" where she sings the chorus. "Dare" where she sings the verses. Also check out "Strobelight" which is a very cool song by them.

Music is becoming more virtual every day. I miss the real bands from the 60's to the 90's. I listen to mostly rap though. Good shit though. Pac, Rittz, Tech, Em, Cole, good rappers, bars. No mumble shit 😂. Honestly I like everything though. Older music that actually played instruments. That shit is amazing! Like Pink Floyd Comfortably Numb (Pulse Live)! Tell me that isn't the best guitar solo on the planet ever! Bands like Sublime, Metallica, Led Zeppelin ,Linkin Park, they can go on stage and actually replicate their music with talent and instruments. Almost everything is digital nowadays. What people perceive as talent nowadays is just recorded as a digital track.

'Dare' by the Gorrillaz is a funky tune I highly recommend. Gorrilaz are an amazing concept band - a collaboration between Damon Albarn (of 90s band Blur) and comic artist Jamie Hewlett. The cartoons are the band members. The only human faces you see in their mazing videos are those of other musicians they work with on songs ❤

I love how everyone's first time hearing this is thinking that it's a song about feeling good, when the story in this song is actually about criticizing the entertainment industry (the "feel good inc"), how it tries to keep people trapped in a constant loop of booze, drugs and partying telling them that it's the way to feel good, cutting them off from everything meaningful in life. The singer is just repeating to himself "feel good" when he's actually sad and when he starts dreaming of love and a simpler life, the guys start rapping to bring him back in, so he robotically moves away from his dreams back to partying. In the end he's trapped, his dreams are crushed and the entertainment industry is laughing at him.

When the Gorillaz came out the membership was a secret. The band was the cartoon characters. They even played live behind a screen. But the music is largely the work of the singer from the Britpop band Blur. The only other constant member is the cartoonist behind Tank Girl. The non-cartoons are guest rappers.

If you wanna see what the helicopters are about react to El Manana, it's the video that this one leads into :) that one stars the guitarist of the band, Noodle (the girl on the floating island). As for who the Gorillaz are, they ain't the rappers. The rappers are guests. The Gorillaz are a band of animated characters that have collaborated with various other artists throughout the years. The band members are 2D, the blue haired English singer who's pretty dumb and sounds like he has an eternal voice crack when he's talking but sounds incredible when he's singing (voiced by Damon), Murdoc the English bassist and self proclaimed leader that's always getting them in trouble with the bad deals he makes (which sort of culminates at the end of the album after this one (Plastic Beach) which ends in a showdown with one of the horsemen of the apocalypse from one of his deals), Russel the American drummer who has somewhat of a connection with spirits due to his homie getting killed in front of him before Murdoc kidnapped him for the band, and Noodle the Asian super soldier guitarist who shipped herself to them in a FedEx box. The band actually does age over the course of the albums (they've been going for about 20 years now) as, back when it started in like, I think, 2003 Noodle was a 13 year old girl in those videos. In this one, Dare, and El Manana she's 15 I think, and in the latest videos they draw her as a fully grown 29/30 year old woman.

Gorillaz was created by British pop group Blur's frontman Damon Albarn and artist Jamie Hewlett, who created Tank Girl. The band is virtual, so the animated characters you see - singer 2D, bassist Murdoc, guitarist Noodle and drummer Russell - ARE the band. Jamie is in charge of the visuals while Damon is in charge of the music and provides 2D's singing voice. The band members and the band as a whole have complete back stories that are detailed and interesting. One of the best things about Gorillaz is that it allows Damon the freedom to do whatever he's feeling at the moment. Sometimes that's mixing genres, so I see them as their own genre. They collaborate with artists from all over the world and from all different genres, and those are the (typically) non animated people in their videos. My favorite Gorillaz songs can change by the minute because they're all so awesome! Right now, I'd suggest Dare, Tranz, Désolé, Doncamatic, Stylo, Plastic Beach, Rock The House and Dirty Harry. Seriously though, you can't go wrong with ANY of them!

To be so wrapped up in your vices that you end up trapped and made captive by them. 2D has realised this and wants to escape, but sadly in the end he is unable to. 2D is the main singer, Murdock is the guitarist, Russel is the Drummer and the girl on playing the guitar onthe floating island is Noodle. This band is animated only, because the lineup changes (except for 2D's vocalist) all the time. I know Snoop worked with them as well as De La Soul. "Clint Eastwood" is an awesome song by them. I like Melancholy Hill...you can see some of the different artists who worked with them. "Soulchild remix" is another great song. You cannot put a label on the type of music they are...the cross too many genres.

the rappers arent gorillaz, the cartoons are. the rappers were a group called de la soul, a rap group from the late80s and 90s who collaborated with gorillaz for this song. gorillaz bring in many collaborators for their songs, like de la soul, like this one, snoop dogg, elton john, lou reed, to smaller names like Del, little dragon, shaun ryder, and so on. gorillaz arent really defined by a singular genre, theyre very expiremental with their music, like their first album is very jamacian influenced, reggae and dub sounding, each album has a different sound, but so does each song on the album. its weird, its great. its gorillaz

I highly recommend Stylo. Features Bobby Womack and Mos Def. I seen it perform live on tv on a British show. Gave me goosebumps. Bobby Womack was there with Mos Def . Just seeing Bobby before he passed was an amazing experience in itself. I've never seen the video though .
