Our first trip to Cornwall didn't go as planned...there were many bumps along the way. Despite all the issues we still had an absolutely amazing time exploring Cornwall! Ever since I started posting videos of our travels in England one of the comments I receive the most is "you need to visit Cornwall"--well now I can say that I have! You all suggested so many places to go and in this video we check some of them out!

Cornwall's roads were built for the horse and cart and haven't really changed since. They should have warned you about the weather, too. Being as you have the sea on three sides, it can change surprisingly fast (even by British standards). The name of your glamp translates from Cornish as "the mine (wheal) on the hill (tor)". Looking forward to your next video. St Michaels Mount and the Minack Theatre, what fun!..........................the ancient Englishman.

Another heads-up if you are thinking of visiting the lake district - quite a few of the unclassified roads (usually have a '>>' symbol) have a total width of 6ft 6 inches...with a stone wall on both sides of the road - these are designated for 2-way traffic with passing places. Just think of it as an adventure holiday ;o)
@frglee
@frglee 2 жыл бұрын
The >> sign is placed on maps on roads to show a very steep hill (steeper than 1 in 5) and > designates a steep hill 1 in 7 to 1 in 5. There are lots of these in the Lake District usually on narrow country lanes and 'B' roads. Main 'A' Roads less often have such gradients.

This might seem like a stupid question, but did you not have any form of spare wheel and tyre in the boot? The Lost Gardens of Heligan are magical. There are some great videos on You Tube about it. Watching a performance at the Minack Theatre is really cool in the evening, with the backdrop of the sea. You should have checked out that museum in the harbour at Charlestown. And you must go to The Eden Project too, with it's tropical gardens in it's Biodomes. If you go up St Michaels Mount, there is a hidden door that was discovered behind one of the seats inside the chapel. There was a skeleton inside! You have to watch out for the tides as you walk across the causeway. The same family have lived in St Michaels Mount for years. It has a twin across the English Channel in France called Mont St Michel. You could spend a lifetime exploring Cornwall and still not see it all. St Ives is another nice place with it's smugglers pubs. And if you want to see one of the best ancient pubs go to The Jamaica Inn on the edge of Bodmin Moor. Daphne du Maurier wrote a famous book about it and Alfred Hitchcock made a movie about it. You can get rooms there, and it has it's own museum. The whole place is haunted too as an added bonus.

@@daveofyorkshire301 These small cars that the rental companies use don't use run-flat tyres as they are too expensive and generally only found on BMWs and the like. I would expect a bottle of Slime in the boot that can be added to the tyre if it deflates to give a temporary repair, and call the AA/RAC if the tyre has a bigger than small hole, which in our experience is wholly likely. My daughter's Mazda has a very good (if unreliable) Bose ICE system from the factory that occupies the spare wheel well in the boot and they supply a bottle of Slime. Our latest Skoda Superb was ordered with an optional spare wheel/tyre, which cost an extra £180 (good value). I have cars with all sorts of spare wheel provisions - none (bottle of Slime), space saver spare, cheap steel spare with FS tyre and full alloy wheel and FS tyre These days, what you have is dependant on the cost of the vehicle, with performance car exceptions, where a spare would take up too much space.

@@clowderlibrary Your ability to use the same Brand as me would depend on whether you have Morrisons Supermarkets in your area, as the Cat Litter in Question is one of their store Brands. We use ‘Clumping’ Litter which you may, or may not be familiar with. If not, I’ll clarify: Ideally, if you have created a reasonable depth of litter in the tray for our little darlings to have a good dig about in. The Litter caught in the flow ‘Clumps’ together, to later form a firm - solid Ball of ‘Waste’ Litter. Or in my cat’s case, small to large Boulders of Litter, especially if he keeps peeing in the same area. Either way, it’s so convenient to lift them out of the tray intact for disposal. Even if there is a low depth of Litter in the tray, which is insufficient to soak up everything and has formed into a damp/sodden patch just firm it up by pouring so dry Litter on top and leaving it for a bit. The downside to the product is, it’s heavy, an 8 litre Bag weighs nearly 20 lbs according to my bathroom scales. Not so good if you haven’t got a car, but Supermarkets do Home Deliveries for Groceries etc. And it’s only about £4.20 a bag. Whereas, lightweight Clumping Litter from ‘Branded’ Manufacturers are far more expensive, possibly for less content. Also, being ‘Lightweight’ the Litter particles are smaller and lighter and in my cat’s case, get absolutely everywhere outside the tray once he gets digging with a degree of fervour, Bless Him! My product Bag is packaged in a Green Bag, with Blue Information Panels, labelled as: Morrisons. ANTIBACTERIAL CLUMPING LITTER 8 Litres ( about: £4.20 ) It’s possible, or even probable that other large Supermarkets that you might use, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda May also sell their Own Brand Clumping Litter, I have a feeling I got some from Asda a few years ago. ( They do Home Delivery as well ) If you want to stick with ‘Regular’ Cat Litter, try the much cheaper Supermarket Brands to see if they suit your purpose. I don’t suppose you were expecting quite as much as this, as a reply to your question, so I hope you are still awake at this point. As a final thought, when you are taking your cat out free roaming on his leash, please be mindful and vigilant, as I am sure you are, of the possible sudden appearance of any untethered dogs in his vicinity. Some dog owners don’t necessarily keep their dogs under control in open spaces, fields, parks etc. Anyway, it’s 30 C outside at the moment, so I might go outside and tan something for a little while. Thank you for your earlier response, it’s a pleasure. 😻. PS. Sticky Toffee Puddings can also be found in Supermarkets.

Apparently, although described as Non-Clumping, they have a sort of bonding effect when wet I believe, if that is desirous from your point of view. I can’t comment on their potential for dusting, I suppose it’s possible but not necessarily to a degree that would prompt an infection. They may well sell them in Supermarkets, but as we hone in on the product which always buy, we don’t focus on the alternatives. My son buys them from a National Store that may be in your area called Pets at Home. On their Website a 30 Lt. Bag costs £7.99. Just checked Asda’s site, similar product £4.00 for 10lts. Check the website of the Supermarkets were you actually shop, to determine what they have. Having already mentioned Sticky Toffee Puddings are available in Supermarkets, if you haven’t tried a ‘Trifle’ yet, please do so, as a recommendation, you will also find them, possibly in the same area. Our cat has to fend of urban foxes in the gardens, he’s still daft enough to sit on the pathway watching them approach. He’s had to run for his life a few times, so far. It’s a worry!

@@clowderlibrary I think that's meant to be "Cornwall" rendered in a thick Cornish/stage pirate accent! You really need a good fortnight to take in everything the county has to offer -St Ives, Newquay, Zennor, the list goes on. If you really want to venture where Americans rarely tread, what about the Scillies?

Your literally going to the worst place, at the worst time of year. Don't get me wrong, Cornwall is great but it is the most popular place for Brits (from north of the River Tamar) to go on staycations. Add in the fact that all public (private) schools and most state (public) schools are now on summer holidays, traffic was to be expected. The fluffy bird you showed about 5 minutes into the video is most likely one of this year gull fledglings (chick recently out of the nest), from the amount of grey and black in its' feathers I'd say a Greater black back but it could be a lesser bb
