Cornwall is amazing! We had such a fun time here. Another trip here is going to be necessary! There just wasn't enough time to see it all in 3 days. If you haven't added Cornwall to your bucket list I hope after watching this video that you will. Cornwall offers some of the most spectacular coastal views that we have ever seen!

You should know that the Phoenicians were sailing to Cornwall to trade for tin 3000 years ago. It is a vital ingredient in the manufacture of bronze. There was so much mining expertise in Cornwall that it was once said that if you looked down a hole anywhere in the world, you'd find a Cornishman at the bottom!

So glad you enjoyed your short trip to Cornwall, it’s so beautiful (if a little damp sometimes!). Most Americans don’t seem to venture that far from London (understandably) but they don’t know what they are missing… it’s a jewel of a county. There’s a reason why most English people chose it as a holiday (or retirement) destination if not going abroad. Along with Norfolk (also worth the effort) it’s one of my favourite places to visit… Hope you get to stay longer on your next adventure!

When you visit Cornwall, best not to bother with Lands End. But you did right to go to Botallack. Try walking part of the South West Coastal path

If you do go back to Cornwall, I would recommend Falmouth for a visit. It has 2 Tudor castles, one on either side of the harbour; Pendennis is bigger but St Mawes is prettier - take your pick!

Cats can always get their message across. My sister had a cat and put a flea collar on it. The collar used to get discarded within the hour and then she would have to find it and put it back on, then tend to her scratches. After a week the cat tired of the game and she found the collar half buried in her litter tray. My sister got the message.

I know I've said it before but, in our quaint little island, there is so much to see. This, coupled with the fact that our roads mostly evolved from tracks, means that you really must allow lots of time for whatever you do. You are bound to stumble across something else that you want to see or explore so think of the time your need for a trip, and then double it (at least!).....................................................the ancient Englishman.

I've mentioned before that Salisbury is my home town - and now you know how far Cornwall is. So when I was a child, about eight years old, my parents put me on a train and sent me to stay with my mother's sister who had married a Cornishman and lived near Wadebridge (north coast). I had clear instructions on how to change trains in Exeter but I managed it. It was an adventure! I've had several American friends who've made it over the pond but it took me years to appreciate why they were always rushing about and rarely stopped in one place long enough to take a deep breath. It's because y'all don't have much vacation time off work. When you do get time off it may be only for a week so you have to pack in every last thing. And on top of that, because an American's view on distance is different they think that if places are close together it will be easier to get from one to the other in no time. Now you're finding out that it ain't necessarily so!

Yeah, it’s very unfortunate that we don’t get a lot of days off during the year to travel, which is why most Americans when they do come to England usually just stick around London. For me, my entire state is as big as your entire country and 30 miles could sometimes take 2 hours so my sense of distance is all out of wack 😅

You should visit Lizard Point which is the southern tip of the UK mainland. It is less developed and is more dramatic than Lands End. To visit St Ives, park at St Erth train station and get the 15 minute train to St Ives. It is stress free. Avoid mid July till end August

The coast guard rescue service would airlift you to ER or send a speedy boat. All free - unlike some places. But the helicopter rescue service survives on charitable donations. My uncle climbed up the top of a hill in the Lake District, got all the way down and tripped over the pavement at the bottom breaking his ankle. The street was so narrow that an ambulance could not get to him, so he was airlifted off the kerb.

If you do go back to Cornwall, pay a less hectic visit to St Ives by getting the little train that runs from Lelant Saltings to St Ives Bay. It really is a lovely trip - short! But lovely and you will go past one of my most favourite bays, Carbis Bay, beautiful and picture postcard pretty 🙂. The trains are quite frequent and it is a fun thing to do - have you been on a train yet? Other places to visit include Mevagissey, which is a fishing port with a sea wall you can walk along and a a lovely beach called Trebarwith Strand which is close to Tintagel and its Castle - the land of King Arthur! I think you have realised that you have hardly scratched the surface of all that Cornwall has to offer its visitors 😊

@@clowderlibrary British badgers aren't the same as American badgers. You'll find them pretty much all over England (can't speak for Scotland) but some counties have lots more than others. Your chances of seeing one are pretty slim however - they're shy, and nocturnal.

Porthcurno is where the first Telegraph cable was laid across to canada & then to the US & the rest of the British Empire using Brunels Great Eastern the only ship to be able to carry enough cable & enough coal to reach Australia & Back all from the little green hut on the beach, The modern Telecomunication cables still run into the sea here but from a more modern relay station further up the beach, as you walk the beach the world is comunicating beneath your feet how cool is that ??

Hound of the Baskervilles is set on Dartmoor not Bodmin. Bodmin Moor is the setting for "Jamaica Inn" by Daphne Du Maurier, (also the author of "Rebecca"). Both books I would highly recommend.

Seagulls have been a problem for years. It was initially caused by tourists feeding them all the time. The locals know not to. Sometimes it get's like the Hitchcock movie, The Birds! T - 30 seconds as my name is Bob too ( not the builder but I can fix most things! ) I can't believe you went to St Michael Mount and never went in. The walk up to it is hard going. As you've seen Cornwall is beautiful and has it's own unique magic! We all want to live there but it is very expensive! About 60 - 70% of the homes are now '2nd homes' owned by the wealthy from London and the Home Counties who only live in them a few weeks of the year. Most of the time they are empty! Because of that major problem the vast majority of the locals can't even afford to live there! The Minack Theatre is heavenly if you go and watch a performance in the evening, as the sun is setting. Lands End used to be very rugged and natural but back around the 90s they ruined it by building the amusements and some other crap! You even get charged for standing by it's famous signpost to most major places in the world. Back in the 80s we took our own photos by it for free! It is not pronounced 'Pastie' as you said it but 'Pass' 'Tee' 'Pas' as in 'ass', 'Ty' as in 'tea'. Most Americans ALWAYS make the same mistake. They 'think' they can visit each place in an hour, when in fact you need a day or more at each location! We might be a small island / kingdom but there is more to see than you can possibly imagine. There is a working tin mine that you can visit and see it's giant beam engines. The cheese rolling is up in Gloucestershire but it's not pronounced 'Glou' as in 'how' but with the Gl and pronounced 'Glost' at the start. There is the South West Coast Path that runs along the edge of Cornwall, Devon and parts of Somerset for 650 miles, full of interesting trails and hikes. There are signs for it and plenty of maps, the OS one being the most detailed showing EVERYTHING! They are available in every WH Smiths and other good stores across the UK. They help you to find the most secret hidden places too. When you accidentally drove through beautiful St. Ives, if you'd kept going long that harbourside road and turned right you could have parked on Smeatons Pier which you could see opposite. Back on that road is the wonderful ancient Smugglers Pub called 'The Sloop Inn' which you would have passed on your left. There is an artists quarter in St. Ives too. If you walk along the tiny streets behind the harbour, there are unique shops full of the local crafts and pottery, with plenty of interesting bookshops!! You should have visited the Jamaica Inn on Bodmin Moor, such a world famous amazing place. www.jamaicainn.co.uk You should try Tintagel Castle and town too, home of King Arthur. And have you heard of The Isles of Scilly ? They are our sub-tropical islands about 25 miles out into the Atlantic. You can get there by light aircraft from Newquay Airport, or go by helicopter from Penzance ( if it is still operating. ) Do NOT go on The Scillonian ship, it is a helluva ride where you get seasick! We just did not have enough time :( We naively thought we could do Cornwall in 2 days. Even after we extended to 3 days we just couldn't fit everything in. We definitely have to go back! I have been going there for 60+ years since I was a little kid and I still haven't seen it all. Another couple of nice places with fabulous beaches are Holywell Bay, and Perranporth. There are plenty of places to go surfing everywhere though Newquay is the most popular with Fistral Beach. And Sarah and Andrew in their Cornish Walking Trails videos will usually take you off the beaten track and give you lot's of history, as well as other info such as parking and most other things! I am having a good one thanks down here in Shaftesbury in Dorset, an ancient Saxon hilltop town going back to 880 AD and earlier, with King Alfred the Great. Here is a famous commercial made here in 1973 down Gold Hill in town. @@clowderlibrary When you next shop in a Supermarket look out for packaging marked: Ginsters Pasty, which are sold individually and slightly smaller versions in a multiple pack. They are made in Cornwall and taste like they should. They can be microwaved or oven baked. Oven Baked is best, resulting in crisp pastry, Microwave is obviously quicker but much, much softer pastry. Pronunciation: Past E, like “Nasty” If you have difficulty locating them, just ask anyone working in the store where the Ginsters products are, they are usually very helpful. Hope you enjoy them.

A lot of Americans simply can’t afford to travel. It easily costs $5,000 for a 2 week trip to Europe. Just flying from one side of our country to the next could be $1,000+. We don’t have affordable airlines like Ryanair and EasyJet. We have Spirit but even they’re starting to get pricey. I know so many people who wish they could go to Europe or Asia but just can’t afford to or lack enough paid holiday days. Most get 2 weeks out of an entire year.

Don’t say paistey say Pasty, there is a different one is a strippers boob covering the other is a pie meal usually called an Oggy as in Oggy Oggy Oggy oye, oye ,oye. Theoretically it’s the best hang over shortener in the world, bottle of Coke and an Oggy wait 15min be sick in the toilet and your head is clear job done. Wherever you go in the UK … golden rule ….. Don’t feed or encourage the Seagulls … I’ve seen people get mobbed by a flock of Seagulls and it isn’t funny …. Hitchcock’s film The Birds 🦅 comes to mind and when it happens it’s very scary …..

Google maps identifies it as England. Literally every government source lists it as England. Hawaii has its own language, culture, and it at one time had its own royalty but it’s still part of the US no matter how much the people want it to be otherwise 🤷🏻‍♀️
