We've had such a wonderful 6 months living in England. It's been absolutely unforgettable and I hope we can return for another stint. Our last month in the UK was spent hanging out with friends and family. We visited some of our favorite places: Cotswolds, Bath, and London. We also visited some new places: Hay of Wye, Cardiff, and Edinburgh! We also finally saw Stonehenge lol

Hi! I'm Abbie, a bookworm and cat lady. My husband (Jeff) and I got rid of everything we own (except my books lol) and left sunny California (with our quirky cat Tedward) for gray skies in England. On this channel you’ll find bookish (hauls, reviews) and travel (vlogs, tips, expat life) content!

We will be back again! I loved it, but our 6 month visa is up unfortunately. We visited Italy, Greece, and a few other places, but I must say that the English are the nicest/politest people I have met by far (as well as the Japanese, but we have yet to spend more that a couple weeks in Japan). I am looking forward to coming back for another long stay as soon as we possibly can.

Thanks for all the video's, sometimes it takes somebody from overseas to make you realise what you have in your own backyard. Plenty of us are very blase and don't see what's in front of our eyes. I for one will be revisiting all these places and maybe look at them slightly differently. Safe journey home.

The thing about Stonehenge is it was built 5000 years ago, and a lot of those huge stones were brought from Wales etc, carried and moved by hand. And on Midsummer morning the rising sun shines straight through and lines up with other stone circles in the area.

Wow, six months flew by. Enjoyed all your videos and hope in the not too distant future you get to come back and see more of the UK for another extended period. Especially "up North"! (And is that Haworth I can hear calling you back?). As Jane might say "the distance is nothing when one has motive"!😉

Stonehenge just isn’t the same since they stopped you walking among the stones. I went as a child in the early seventies and was fascinated hearing how they had hauled those huge stones and set them up to perfectly align with the sun.

So glad you and Jeff enjoyed your stay in Salisbury and got to see so much of our beautiful island. You also got to travel around some really interesting places in Continental Europe. You also seem to have ticked off a lot of the suggestions you received including probably what you see as nirvana - Hay on Wye. You will definitely have to return as an hour there is as I sure you quickly realised even for a tiny town is insufficient. Interesting fact on the Slaughters they are double thankful villages which means they did not lose a single person either in the first or Second World War, which means no war memorial.

I’d assumed you were going to be here for a few years given you sold most of your stuff. Good luck with your journey home.

We would have loved to stay longer for sure! We sold pretty much everything since we knew we were not going to be going back to California. That and it is very freeing getting rid of everything and starting over. Long story short, I had a couple of job offers (I do software development) but had to turn them down for various reasons. So once our 6 month visa ended, we had to come home. But we have talked about moving back in a year or so to, perhaps, Edinburgh next time!

I was working next to Winch Cathedral on the day you were there! Waving a belated hello. 👋🏼 I've looked into Salisbury Cathedral tours before but now I want to try one even more. That view is so spectacular!! So sorry you have to leave and thanks for sharing your adventures with us. All the best with the move! I hope you get the opportunity to live/work here again if you want to. 💗

So sad so see you “having” to go back - I do believe you did enjoy your time here - Blighty isn’t all that bad, is it?😄 come back soon and see if you can stay a little bit longer, like a couple of years? See it as a service you need to do to visit those lonely bookshops 😊😁

Sorry you had to leave the U.K...But you know you have been living in the U.K not just England? Why oh why do some Americans come to the U.K also Canadians and Aussie's to be fair and it's England this and England that? Your opening sequence to this video shows screens from all over the U.K including WALES and SCOTLAND, with the Word / Name ENGLAND, plastered all over us! If you know anything about our History we really don't like being called English or England. Sending love and safe travels back to America x

Hi Ezri, We were living in Salisbury, England for the entire time. This video does include stuff from Scotland and Wales (as a kind of final wrap up of all of our adventures in the UK as you mentioned). Have a good one! -Jeff

@@WVHSFootball Thank you for the reply.. However you know the state of politics in the U.K right now, it's like the U.S but we went, wait hold my beer 🙄 Scotland is very proud of it's history which is quite separate to England including having its own language. Wales is England's first colonial possession and we have been fighting like hell for nearly 1000 years to keep ourselves Cymru 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 including our language, hence we really hate being called English, or ENGLAND! Hence you could have put the word the U.K or even England, Wales and Scotland over the into when in England, Wales or Scotland. I hope you understand why I was a little WTF? Thanks Ezri x

We were based in England. We were there there 90% of the time. Our trips outside of England (to Wales and Scotland) were like anyone going on vacation outside of their home. I wouldn’t call us visiting Scotland for 2 days or going to Cardiff for an evening as living at either of those places.

@@ezriclarajones9262 makes sense Ezri! Side note: Braveheart is my favorite movie of all time. Although William Wallace was a Scot, I wonder if the Welsh have a similar story/movie I could check out :) I know Hollywood is a bit over the top (e.g. The Patriot, America's version of Braveheart). We have also learned that the Cornish are very proud of their country and do not want to be called English. We learned that the hard way. This is one of the main reasons we travel as much as possible, so we can learn these thing first hand thumbs-up. Though I suppose I could just crack open a history book, but whats the fun in that ? EDIT: consolation prize, Andy Whitfield (Welsh actor) is also a favorite actor. Spartacus was awesome. His documentary about his battle with cancer was one of the hardest documentaries to watch emotionally. He seemed like a really cool dude.
