Always better to be safe…bailing isn’t a failure, it was a wise decision in weather like that. Well done to get as far as you did. 👍🏻

Thank you for watching the video and your comment. :) We were glad to get home and relax in the dry! Next time, though, we're going to make it.

I love that area so much but that bog gets the best of so many people, as does the Dartmoor clag 😂🤣 you’ll do it next time I’m sure!! 🥰

Ha ha. I hope so. Although, we're going to go to a different area on the next trip., so at least we'll have a better chance of reaching our destination 😂

I've had minor issues the two times I've been to that area, It was no less boggy on the other side of the river when I went in May! It's like you either stay leat side & camp at crow tor or head up the wistmans wood side to get to higher white tor. Lower white tor a little further on has amazing camp spots. Great to see the three of you out, lush vid👍

I did wonder if it was going to be as boggy on the other side. Perhaps it's a good thing we couldn't find the crossing. Yes, you're right. It would be better to start on the Wistmans wood side - next time! And another video. Thank you for watching and for commenting. I hope you've been able to get out on a camp this week.

Well done you two, and Walter! i haven't been woken by horses outside the tent, but I've been woken by a hedgehog in the foyer 🤣 I've also had sheep chewing the cud outside - strange noises aren't they! I think you'll be fine with horses and ponies though, cows on the other hand... When are you headed back? I'll keep my fingers crossed for dry weather for you all! x

Unlocked new fears: cows and hedgehogs 😂 I don't think we'll be back up there until September. Hopefully it will be more settled then. I hope you've enjoyed your little adventures recently.xx

The second I saw the leat I knew where you were 😁. Lovely to see all three of you in this one. It's a shame you had to bail, but sometimes for the best, especially when conditions turn. Besides, Walter would have been a proper grump if you had made him camp out like that 😉

Ha ha. I knew you would. And we still failed that footpath. Grr. And you're absolutely right, we would never have heard the end of it from Walter. As it is, he was surprisingly quiet in the car on the way back home. Sian is in the process of getting used to the camera, so I hope she will be joining me on more videos in the future.

@@clairesoutdoorodyssey maybe we should give that footpath another go in September? There must be a way to conquer it without getting bog-bound! Love what you're doing on here, looking forward to seeing more 😁

@@rachpwanders6095 Kev thinks it's impassable and suggests if you want to go to the Higher or Lower white tors, to stick to the right side of the river... that it's just as boggy on the other side, even if you do get across. Ha ha. So maybe a different route entirely is required!

I find a single trekking pole goes so far for crossing boggy terrain, it just takes balance off your mind so your mind can properly focus on how much water is getting into your shoe and how disgusting it feels :)

Ha ha. Maybe I'll skip the trekking pole if I'd then pay more attention to the squishiness in my shoes!! In all seriousness, I forgot to take my trekking poles. I'll take them next time. :) Thanks for watching and commenting.
