Children are such a blessing! My little boys love watching Ivar. We raise ours in a similar way. They eat what we eat and help us with our projects. I love the wool diaper covers, and clothes. We wash them in a wash tub, sometimes outside. I didn't toilet train my boys until they were toddlers, but started training my girl at 5 months and wouldn't do it any other way. She's 11 months old, and uses the bathroom more constantly than her 2.5 year old brother! Baby #4 will be trained from day one! Keep up the good work!!!

I made one of these for my daughter 50years ago for when we went camping. UK in August is a wet experience. I bought a cotton backed plastic I believe so she could crawl at 10 months. Probably was a Simplicity pattern. Getting children dry at a year is all about training the parents rather than the child. We all had to learn how before washing machines and nappies were soaked then boiled in a bucket on the stove...😏😏

Great video, it's so wonderful to watch your beautiful life. As a former daycare teacher here in the US it used to make me so sad to see the babies eating store bought baby food, their parents would also use harsh creams and diapers with bleach and fragrances. The babies would get diaper rashes and yeast infections from poor diet and antibiotics they would be prescribed for ear infections. So Mathias when you said you thought all babies got diaper rashes I wanted to share that only babies with ignorant parents who use silly products get rashes🧐 kudos to you both for feeding Ivar real food and using nappies, my husband and I love watching your family. Sending love from VT, USA.

There is another way to boost the insulation in the cabin, its called a double wall. The folks in Siberia, build log cabins with an inner wall. The thicker the mass of logs the more insulation. The inner wall does not need to be as thick. 2X3 STUD built inner wall could help conserve on the heat. It's the air gap between the inner and outer side of wall that stops convection, as a heat-sink.

Seeing how you are raising Ivar makes me wish I could start all over again. I thought we were so unconventional and holistic back when our kids were little. I didn't have a clue. Your children are being raised close to nature, eating healthy food, breathing clean air, caring for animals, and learning the value of hard work. There is something to be said for a lifestyle like that. I think of all of the baby food packages, and diapers, and trash our family generated over the years, and all the processed foods we ate and it makes me sick. I'm in my 50s and I've only had a garden for 3 years, and I'm learning how beautiful life can be close to nature and living truly holistically. I envy you for your wisdom at such a young age. You live a very heart centered life, thank you for sharing it with us. Mathias you mentioned "energy glass" when talking about building your windows. We have an enclosed porch with windows make with energy glass. It was explained to me that this glass lets in the heat/energy of the sun depending on the angle of the sun so in winter here the glass lets in more, in summer it lets in less. The incoming light is not diminished. Amazing to me that glass can be made to respond to the sun in this way. Best of luck with your windows and cabin.

And after 2 years it changed to nursing them till the day they refused themselves. Resulting my son had been nursed 3 years and 8 months and my daughter 4 years and 7 months. With work and pumping it wasn't easy all the time but so worth the effort

Ah, I said the same thing when my daughter was born - after millennia of human evolution, why should I suddenly switch course and follow certain fashions of child-rearing that don't fit my life or my child's at all? People were aghast when I'd put the baby to sleep on her chest, then amazed when she didn't cry from gas pains and went to sleep soundly. Others clucked their tongues when I responded to her cries rather than ignore her, then were amazed at what a happy and well-adjusted temperament she had. There is one thing you are not missing out on in your isolation - competitive parenting! Others justifying their choices by criticizing yours - it's exhausting.

There is no greater gift than children. Maybe it is time for a brother or sister for him. He is a nice little boy. He is very inquisitive and loves to explore. Thank you for sharing your experiences. It is nice to see him grow.

My baby boy is a year old and he loves watching your son in these videos. We watch this channel a lot around his nap time because the music is so relaxing.

I'm sure a lot of people (including myself) envy your life style in total submersion in nature. You guys are extremely blessed! In time of economic hardship, you guys will be least effected as you can produce your own food.
