Yes, the desert is nice, but ya just can't beat the smell of the north woods while your camping!!

Agree, although the desert does smell really good after a rain.

Ha. Major Dick Bong. I wonder if anyone remembers the Bong bridge that used to cross the lake at Duluth/Superior. Cool old wooden bridge we used to cross in the 1970s.

It is ok to mope and brood some, as long as you move on. Good to see you smile too. I like the red rock desert but I love the forests and lakes of the midwest. Even the desert in Oregon is nice but nothing compared to waking up in a forest by a lake. Glad you guys got out and had some fun together. Hope you all are stay safe and healthy.

I go up there , was there around the time you was there. I stayed at the border park. This is my favorite place to go now. i stay in my van which is easy to do, no set up. Go climb Mt Josephine, ask the guy at the gas station by Rydens if you cant find it. Don't forget Amicon falls in Wi. on US 2.

Minnesota State Parks have many hiking trails but, each park has a Designated Hiking Club Trail. That is what the yellow highlighted trail on the map was for. You hiked a lot of it, if not all. There is a word on mounted on a post( or something) somewhere along the trail. At the ranger stations you can purchase a hiking club book. In the book you enter the word you found to prove that you hiked the trail. Each 25 miles you get a patch you can iron, or sew, on your jacket. Every 100 miles you get a free night of camping. When you have done every hiking club trail in the state they send you a plaque. It just a fun way to encourage people to get outside go to the parks and go hiking.
