Our fridge is empty! Gotta move the house. Sailing Vessel Delos Ep. 263

After three weeks all we have left in our fridge is two apples and a pack of beets. We decide it's time to leave our hideout and sail around the corner of the island so we can provision the boat properly. Our time at anchor getting used to life onboard with Sierra has been fantastic, but it's time to get a move on and start our sailing for the season! After heading into the beach one last time and fixing the broken dinghy engine we set sail and provision Delos with enough food and supplies to last us another month. It's time to start sailing west!

Marooned at home so I have binged on all of your videos in the last 3 weeks to catch up! Love the life you are so fortunate to enjoy. I received my new tech SV Delos shirt yesterday and it's beautiful! Can't wait to see who will recognize it on the water here in Annapolis, MD. It will be a great ice-breaker for meeting new friends. I'll keep watching for sure. After owning 4 boats and sailing some offshore but mostly on Chesapeake Bay, you're giving me the vibe to do more. Every now and then I see a thumb of Delos videos of old. I've been with you from the get go, and my wife jumped on in year 2. How I miss the adventures of what I called "The Magnificent Seven". I still remember how lonely that road looked the day Josje left. Our hearts broke for Mr. Brady that day. But Alex is cool, and seems to make him happy. Now there's a brand new Trautman sailing the world on Delos. And I agree Brian, the nugget can, and is, a member of the crew.Yeah, what a long strange trip it's been. We'll be there with you till the end.

Oh the first tooth! We remember it well with both or two. We had teething biscuits for them called bickie pegs. A hard ships biscuit on a ribbon that they would chew on for hours. Treasure every moment you guys. They grow so fast. Suddenly you will turn around and they married and having their own children and you get to live it all over again.... All be it from a distance stuck in lockdown 2000 miles away. :-( Stay safe, Sail Safe guys. Ant, Cid and the pooch crew.

Just wanted to share an idea for fresh fruit. Put pieces in ice trays with juice. Nice cold treat or to blend for morning smoothies. Frozen bananas are the bomb and I bet Sierra will find them soothing as she is teething.

Oh the sailors life for me, off I go to sea, with my boat stocked up and I've filled my cup.With baby and wife, its a sailors life, we're bound no particular place, I've played my cards and drawn an Ace, oh its the sailors life for me! Not a very good little poem there but I just found it coming out, I was very happy to see I had a Delos video to watch today, then I realised it is Friday. Because of this Lockdown we are coping with, days just seem like on an ocean passage, when everyone is asking what day it is after a week at sea.

I love the way that Brian and Karin edit. The style suits the channel and makes it feel like the channel did back in the Indian Ocean; like this is a big adventure and we are coming along. The episodes had started to feel like documentaries about making a travel blog, that’s gone now.

I only discovered the channel a few weeks ago, have been gorging episodes while on lockdown and occasionally read the comments on some episodes. Its funny to see the opinions about when they sailed S.E. Asia and the Indian Ocean to the Madagascar season to the Atlantic crossing then the Atlantic loop and how some wanted the party boat vibe to remain, how some didnt like the loss of Josje, how some wanted more of the Brady/Alex travel docu style and how a few said the vibe would be ruined by the arrival of Sierra and it would be the death of the channel. For me, that there's been a few different voices editing content on the channel has given it a vital variety of perspective. It's great that there has been progression through different stages of life and what has been the crews priority at each stage. The channel would have died if there had been any kind of stagnation. No-one would keep watching if Brian & Brady hadn't grown and developed (and despite as some wanted, watching grown men trying to live like college kids on spring break would be embarrassing!). The channel is still a lot better than some of the other 'cruiser' ones out there with quality of footage, editing and storytelling (and a distinct lack of the horrible 'influencer' vibe that some have). What is a massive downfall for a lot of the others is their audio recording and mixing quality. I watched an episode from another channel yesterday and despite using lavalier mics to interview someone, the audio was abysmal. With the effort and enthusiasm that has been put into the channel over the last 6 or so years, as long as that is maintained, then it will still have an audience.

The two cycle engine reminds me of my dirt bikes back in the 70's and 80's. Always carry spare spark plugs was the motto. Your life reminds of the movie Blue Lagoon. Was in love with Brooke Shields ! Have to admit I have been absent for awhile but your new life is great. Life is full of changes. Just like diapers. Your in a good place ! Life is seriously stressful in the States ! We have the 15hp version of your outboard. A few years back I was having repeated problems with rough running, poor acceleration and fouled plugs, even though I tend to use wide open throttle when conditions allow. The problem was that I was running rich, but not 100% of the time. Disassembled and cleaned the carb several times before I found a pinhole in the fuel pump diaphragm. It wasn't obvious at all - found it by holding the diaphragm up to a light. New diaphragm did the trick, ran like a top after that. --Sam & Dawn on S/V Windbird

Love the video guys. I think now is the time to start teaching that little nugget how to swim. When I was in high school, I taught 6 month old babies how to swim. It was very rewarding. The hardest part was the mothers, they are very protective. It's nice to know your babies can swim at such a young age. Remember, they lived there first 9 months in water. So when you put them in water they take to it quite quickly.

Keep track of the order in which the teeth come in. For the most part, that is the order they will come out. We had a "Baby Book" for each kid and put dates on the baby teeth diagram. It was interesting to tell them which tooth was going to fall out next. It helps perpetuate the myth that parents are sages! ;-)

As new Parents the biggest lesson you will need to learn is to have grace for yourself when its not perfect. Not one parent has it all together and any that it looks like they do its just on the serface. Keep it real like blinding your kid with the sun bahahaha we have all done it and worse. Sounds like due to your excess of solar power now that you need to install a 12 volt low flow high pressure water maker pump. Then you can program some kind of controller to turn on the water maker pump rather than just stop charging your batteries. Power is water!
