I'm so happy someone already told you this. I'd like to add, when I first heard him say this a part of me didn't understand. Coming from America where we're told to dream big, a bit of me wanted to disagree. But when I thought of it I realized that people say dream big but really don't teach you how. unless your talent is undeniable, unless your dream is "normal" people don't really encourage you. Instead your parents tell you about the importance of stability and getting a good job. Your childhood dreams shatter quietly and easily are sent to literal dreamland. From what I've learned the pressures put on the youth in Korea are harsher. From an early age you are taught to study study study. If you aren't number one then you are basically a loser. Hence the high rate of suicides. The pressures seem so heavy and there is zero time to dream. "No one teaches you how to dream ..."

BTS worked with a British songwriter/performer named MNEK on "Paradise" and he's amazing too. His own song "Paradise" (a completely different song) is one of the most transcendent things I've ever heard. He was so excited to meet RM in Korea in 2018 on his tour there! I feel like BTS "Paradise" is one of the most comforting messages they've ever put out to their fans in a world that always seems bent on making people feel like they'll never be enough just as they are.

We all running to the same finish line so they say “each breath is exhaled in paradise “ because your already here in this world living in your paradise. He’s saying dreams are FANTASY we have in our beds and chasing dreams in life ALWAYS in the future is also a fantasy. He is saying every small attainable goal can be a dream like buying a laptop or eating or even just sleeping in. This song is fantastic because, not only is it a straight bop, but it shows the growth of BTS. During their debut and HYYH era, their songs were filled with lyrics of chasing down your dreams, of finding your dream and never letting it go. But by 2017-2018, BTS' success skyrocketed around the world, and recognition and awards seemed to come all at once. When they stopped to look around, BTS realized that most of their dreams had already been accomplished, and began to wonder what was left for them to do. This was the period where they considered disbanding. Eventually, they found (or, more accurately, rediscovered) their reason to keep going - the fans and making music tor them. So, of course Suga wrote a song about it. It's okay if your dream is as simple as making it through the day or making someone smile, because that's still something you want to achieve for the sake of yourself, not for someone else's dream. And it's okay if you don't have a dream - just keep going in life because that's still a beautiful experience.

I think RM's part is saying that if you're always dreaming of a future happiness you can't be happy now. Take time to notice your happiness now. It's not just always in the future . "What did I just have in my bed last night?" Wasn't that a dream? Everything you do is a dream, your existence is beautiful dream to those in Heaven. That's why your breaths are already in paradise. You don't have to always rush or compete to be better, sometimes all you have to do is just be. You're already a dream. 💜

The thing that intrigues me the most about BTS is how nice they are, both collectively and individually and how rebellious they are simultaneously. They reject everything that does not suit them and make no apologies for it. They look at the world with wide, expectant eyes and invite what they know they deserve from it. It's such a welcomed difference from what we are used to. I think Nico hit the nail on the head at 10:30 with his explanation of J-Hope's verse. Hobi laid it all out by explaining that your dream should be intrinsically woven to you and not the world's view of you. RM's verse shared the sentiment of being so caught up by the programming of the world that you only know how to define "dream" as something to be gained way in some distant future. A person can get so immersed in that, that they neglect to enjoy the very dreams they have in their beds at night; they forget to appreciate the moments, now.

Since I was a little girl, I was taught to only have goals equal to a to-do list and that those should be my dreams, that it was something that I had to do and that everyone does and that only when I arrived would I be happy, but with that life became a marathon of suffering to me, because every time I did not fulfill the task my world it was falling apart and there was also disappointment of others towards me. Long after I found out those weren't my dreams. I had to fight the world for it and I still didn't know whether to believe because I had been indoctrinated that life was as they told me it should be, until I heard this song and I knew that I could be happy in my own way, that it shouldn't be the same and that my thoughts and desires were valid, I deserved a life with or without a dream. I really cry, but with happiness, every time I listen to this song, because I feel like it's a warm hug that tells you you'll be fine and that everything is going well.
