Welcome to my daily vlogs! TRAVEL. FOOD. COMEDY. SINGING. PETS. LIFE.
I upload a new video every day at 7AM EST!
Vlog edited by Jeah Yason
For business inquiries: mikeyjbustos@gmail.com
About Me:
My bio is pretty random: In short, I am a professional singer/songwriter from Toronto, Canada who moved to Manila, Philippines which sorta became my Hollywood because my first KZbin channel MIKEYBUSTOSVIDEOS grew popular due to Filipino comedy videos. Meanwhile, I'm also a big biology geek who is obsessed with ants, so I built an internationally operating ant business supported by another popular channel called ANTSCANADA, and well basically, today I travel and tour around the world doing what I love so I wanted to start this vlogging channel, in hopes to encourage you guys to follow your dreams no matter how random, by showing you what happened when I followed mine! You just never know where life will take you when you listen to the yearnings of your heart!

Hi, Mabuhay Squad! Thanks for watching. Super thrilled at our new pond which will just keep getting better over time. Also, just to clarify, in case I wasn't clear in the vlog, THE TURTLES HAVE ACCESS TO THE LAND AREA around the pond and have A WOODEN RAMP (those two huge logs) to get there. They were put in place (I didn't vlog it) when the water level rose higher shortly after I concluded the vlog. This is where the turtles could bask and rest if they so choose. The wooden log ramps, as mentioned, also help any animals like toads and that monitor entering the pond, to easily get out. We may also add an island somewhere soon. Thanks! ❤️🐢🦎

I've been following Ants Canada for a few years but only discovered this channel a few months ago. I've been watching old vlogs while I work. Watching the Pandorama videos from 2020 now.. What a flashback! Wish I had been watching them as they came out. They would have been very comforting at the time. So excited to see the farm lot develop, if you & RJ are designing it, I know it will be stunning and functional! Many Blessings!

@@MikeyBustosVLOGS Regarding snake issues, I don't think they would be attracted by the pond. Reticulated pythons, possible but not cobras. Cobras would still prefer open fields, especially areas with banana and coconut plantations. However, beware of cane toads as they could poison the turtles if eaten. They could also attract the cobras too.

Yay for the pond!!! On to the fun of cycling it. 😅 I'm glad you are slowly introducing animals and plants. I have friends come to me when they build small ponds on their property and are upset that they have algal blooms because they stock them too fast. Then they want to dump in chemicals to correct it. I never use them. SMH... I have a young Savannah Monitor. Unlike the water monitors the Savannah can be very human friendly.. if handled from when they are young. Ours is still learning and a little snappy. He's only about 5 inches long now but may get to 4 to 5 feet. He's now gobbling insects, pinky mice, and occasionally bits of boiled egg.. Today, we are going to try him on a live quail egg.

@MikeyBustosVLOGS Yes.. this was a rescue. I'm experienced with a lot of small and medium reptiles including my 5 ft Dumerils Boa, Yellow-Earred Slider, Bearded Dragon, etc... but never one that will get this large overall. I live in a condo and that isn't ideal. Once he's more tame I may have to rehome for his best welfare... which makes me sad but I know of a person that is interested and experienced so there's that.

For moss, you can buy some from aquarium shops and basically just glue them unto the concrete (cyanoacrylate works, even underwater). They'll spread out on their own. I think all aquatic mosses in the aquarium trade are native, so it won't be a problem if they escape. It might also be nice to add potted aquatic plants underneath and not just rely on floating plants to soak up the nitrates.
@MikeyBustosVLOGS
@MikeyBustosVLOGS 11 ай бұрын
Yes, hoping to secure some amazon ferns to the bottom. This will be interesting to see if mosses naturally thrive in the pond seeing as I won't be adding CO2 which in nature comes from long term decaying plant material. I will try my best, and thank goodness my pandemic obsession of aquascaping prepared me for this big outdoor pond project.
@AngryKittens

@@MikeyBustosVLOGS I've always loved mosses. Something about their tiny "leaves" make them relaxing to look at. Like watching a forest from afar, or grasslands. Moss-covered rocks and branches are my definition of zen. XD The pond is big enough to catch rain and plant matter, and it's circulating, so I don't think you need to worry about CO2 supplementation or anything like that.

Turbo looks so small now, now that she has been introduced to the main pond haha. And yeah that monitor lizard is indeed a Water Monitor due to it being the most commonly encountered monitor lizard in the country. It will be nice to see some shrubbery and tall grass-like plans inside the indoor aviary once the parrots move to the outdoor aviary, since most songbirds that are commonly available in captivity will appreciate the grassy/scrubland look that resembles their habitat in the wild. And since you'll be raising kangkong to eat in your pond, seems like herbivorous fish for the pond might be out of the question then because they're gonna treat it like a salad bar haha unless the plants grow faster than the fish can eat them. There's a crocodile sanctuary here in cebu where they also exhibit large ponds for huge fish species, and they had pacu, giant gourami,and pangassius in there, yet the water hyacinths in the ponds seem to still be lush and numerous. It might be because they introduced the fish after the plants have grown numerous.

Hi Mickey nice and beutiful ponds for your pets, but i have a suggestion if you don't mind. The turtles sometimes wants to rest and out of the water ,maybe you can put some big stones on the middle or side for them to be up from the water and breath happily😊❤

Mikey/RJ - all the mabuhay animals have cute partners. i hope billy and melody will also have a partner/ friend in the future. also just wondering if the monitor lizard wont harm the turtles? and a floating raft or island might be cute to see esp if the turtles can climb on it.

You need to add about 12 inches of substrate to your pond. Without a substrate "Nature" can't do its thing, your water will not get the beneficial bacteria it requires, and it will easily pollute more as well, it's also more expensive to maintain. You can do 6 inches of garden dirt soil then cover it with 6 inches of silica or gravel sand, silica is better but it's expensive. Make sure to wash the sand. You can build a solar bog filter so the water will cycle better. If you need to replace your water every week or even once a month it means your not doing it right.

Yay Time for my regular dose of good vibes... Your appreciation and zest for life is contagious. Your new cover release of Enrique's 'Hero' is incredible. I hope you share it on this vlog because I noticed it has not gotten the exposure it deserves on your music channel. I listen to it so much since you released it... Just WOW!!! Time for me to settle into todays show... lots of love to you and RJ ❤

It's so relaxing watching your vlogs, Mikey. Lots of things are going on. You have a lot of exotic animals. Flora and fauna will multiply in your farmhouse. Can you also raise white Parakeets and love birds? I can't wait to see your veggie and animal farm grow into reality. Good luck, and God bless you and RJ. ❤❤❤

Epic pond I’ve been turning my old pool in to a pond for about a year I’m in Australia we get water dragons and frogs and we will add some native fish later because we’re letting wildlife get in first and established then we will add a few species to balance the system and surprisingly no mosquitoes lava are in there because of all the water Beatles and water scorpions: if you don’t know what water scorpions are look it up and you will be amazed anyways they keep down their populations down so much that I can’t see any and around the side of the pool and on the steps we put plants and rocks there so the lizards get out and also filter the water your pond is going to be great you will start getting a lot more animals coming every day you will see a new animal in the water even ones you won’t expect like diving spiders in my pool they make bubbles so they can breathe underwater and dive so I call them diving spiders idk there real name anyways as always epic Vlog Mickey

been following your interaction with animals. with my limited experience with hookbills/parakeets/budgies/parrots, maybe it will help to provide them with dried cuttlebone which help with their beaks and calcium requirements.

10:37 is that a flea on that? If it is they could make them anemic very quickly. Indoor outdoor cats could easily bring fleas into them.

I am 7 minutes into the vlog and I was telling myself that i could have seen you in SM North Edsa when you were hosting. Was the show on the 16th or 17th? But nah, I was just dreaming because we're in Sorosogon. We used to go to SM North Edsa every time I'm in the Phils. 🙂
