Thank you for helping understand justice and mercy. Your homily was beautiful and clear. Is it fair that the Lord took my 36 yr old son 6 weeks ago? Did Jesus show mercy to take him out of his extreme drug addiction fighting the devil. He Over dosed and died. My son had a beautiful soul. He was a loving person. I believe with all my heart the God showed his Mercy. Now I know for sure after listening to you of how powerful Mercy is. My son opened his heart a jar and the Mercy of Jesus took him into his arms. Did Jesus show Mercy for me and my husband as I trust so deeply in that Jesus is in control. Five years of horrible situations. Maybe it is both father. Mercy for my son as he struggled with addition and also it was for our family as well. I grieve so deeply, but now I believe it was both because Jesus is so Merciful!!

Thank you to Ascension and Fr. Mike for providing these homilies and online Masses. One huge footnote to add to this story is that when Rudolf Höss was young he was discerning whether or not to enter the Seminary. A priest broke the sacred confessional seal and ratted him out to his father. This ghastly betrayal led to Höss's utter disdain for the cloth and so he entered the military and went on to become an infamous Nazi. This loose-lipped priest had been under no pressure to break the seal-now contrast that to Fr. Walter J. Ciszek, a priest who was under enormous pressure to rat out his fellow inmates in the gulag. Divine Mercy is an incredible message-perhaps our last great hope-but we must also remember what happens when priests break their solemn vows. Let us all pray for priests around the world.

I received a card from the Marian helpers 3 years ago (Prayer for our enemies). It begins with: God our Father, Your Son commanded us,”love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you”. (Mt 5:44) When we were finally able to go to confession a young priest told me to find a book from father Chisik called He leadith me, since I said I don’t want to hate anyone. I pray each morning the Marian prayer and it keeps me focused on Gods love and Jesus’ yes. Thank you father Mike for explaining even more of Gods mercy and my trust!
