"Andy and Tanya's GREEK House Update - Autumn 2023 🍂
Hello there, lovely viewers! It's Andy and Tanya, and today we're excited to give you a quick update on our house and all the happenings around here. It's been a while since we did one of these together, hasn't it? Oh, right, I was in Spain for a bit, and Tanya, did you manage one on your own while I was away?
You did? Ah, yes, the one about painting doors, but it wasn't a full house update. Well, that's because there hasn't been too much to update lately. We've had a flood and some unexpected visitors, so we had to put a pause on some of our grand plans. But we'll show you what we've managed to accomplish so far.
The weather is getting chillier, and our vines are starting to brown. We've even crafted a gate from old chairs because we were tired of dogs visiting our garden. The pomegranate tree is looking good, but Andy may have over-pruned it a tad.
Our oranges are ripening again, making this the third year in a row. Crazy, right? We need to tackle the weed situation on our gravel area. Looks like Tanya will be on weed mat duty this week.
In the house, we're gradually upgrading the lighting, as you can see, but there's still much more to do. Our workshop has seen some electrical work and plans for a multi-functional space are in progress. We also managed to salvage some marble, which will be perfect for our window sill.
And don't forget to check out our lively Facebook group, "Living in Greece," where you can join a thriving community. Thanks to our fantastic patrons and potential KZbin members, we can continue sharing our adventures with you. We're also preparing for an upcoming Q&A session.
Stay tuned for the next update, where we'll be harvesting olives and warming ourselves by the wood burner as the weather cools. It's all happening here in Greece! Thanks for watching, and as always, remember to like, share, subscribe, and leave your comments. Your interaction helps us beat the KZbin algorithm.
See you in the next one, and take care! 🌿🏡🍁"Living in Greece - OUR GREEK HOUSE - Live in Greece Update (After 2.5 Years) OCTOBER 2023. Our property agent en.spitogatos.gr/sale
Our lawyer: Zoe Ganossi - ganosizoe@gmail.com - +30 2751100408 or 6978786416
The notary we used has since retired but you can find another here: notaries-europe.com/greece/
You will need to go to the local government office (KEP) to have documents stamped and also to sort out your tax and health insurance. You can find your nearest one here: www.ermis.gov.gr/portal/page/p...
Your accountant is your best friend after your lawyer, we struggled to find a good one, the greek tax system is hideously complex so you can't do a self-assessment as we can in the UK. We have just changed accountant and now use Mary at Kleopas Alliott: m.moustaka@alliott.gr

Your Greek house is beautiful congratulations 🎉I hear a strong heavy English accent do Greek locals understand cause they already can’t speak American / Canadian English..I’m planning to return this October for a month ( to see if I can find work for the 4 months of winter) to Chania Crete the largest Greek island my hometown after 60 years living in Canada 🇨🇦 ❤️🇬🇷 new subscriber 👏🏻 Canada is not going well with the illegal immigrates government is corrupt the last 10 years.. 😢

Thank old bean, yes proper south east british accents here, occasionally slipping into broad carrot crunching farmer style Norfolk. Greeks do a damn sight better with my english than i do with greek so for that we are grateful. You are not the first to say that about Canada. I think the same about the UK with the tories and brexit etc.

Hi, from Volos, I am currently sick with… I don’t know what, but I have a very bad cough. Anyway, yes, two floods, and I’m done with floods for now. I’m glad to see you’re still working on your home, I’ve only had mine for seven months now, and I still have a room full of books on the floor… I had mentioned to you in my other post that I’ve had a lot of trouble finding a cleaning woman, because they all seem to want to tell me what to do, how to organize my home, etc. I am the lady who is visually impaired. I am learning how to do things like clean my huge balcony, but I still don’t know how to do a lot of things, and I’m not sure what I want to do with the room full of books yet. Anyway, there is still a lot of mud in my area and I really hope they clean it up soon.

Yes I can imagine the mess after the flooding. Glad you are okay. Ha! we had a huge balcony in our appartment in Cambodia before we came to greece and it was a pain in the wottsit to keep clean. I'm not sure either what you can do with the books :-)

There is something wrong with your electricity setup. Maybe you've used wrong wires or the bulbs are delaying by default (but you don't give it time to warm up).

Hi, just to let you know I am trying to upload a video, I forgot to title it, but it is introducing myself to you, I’m not really involved so much with the community of foreigners because there is so much to be work on locally with disability, and I speak Greek, so my attention is mostly toward that. But I did do a video for you in English, it is the most recent one on my channel. Have they stopped your water at night or do you have very very little pressure? That seems to be what they are doing here.

Thinking of retiring to Greece. how did you get a tax number and bank account to enable you to buy your house? Did you rent first ?
@LivinginGreece
@LivinginGreece 8 ай бұрын
We got in just before brexit and just asked our accountant to set us up a business each. they sorted the tax number. We just went in the bank with our residency cards and opened a standard account. We rented an Air bnb for the first 6 months.

@@paulgillespie9855 We are actually on the mainland, in Didyma, Argolidas, Peleponesse. It's called the Greek Riviera and is home to the King of Holland amongst others. It's well off the tourist trail :-) we will be looking for around 130,000 euros and can include contents to make it a turnkey buy if needed.
