Our "GROOVY" New Horse Goes Swimming!

My Dad was a great horse trainer & he always said that the best way to start a horse was to take him up to his neck & shoulders in water before trying to get on him! Once you're in the water with him, that's when you get up on him! It literally takes all the fight out of them without 'breaking' them! No trauma, no injury, no damage, no risk & it makes everything else after that easier for the horse to learn! IT ALSO TEACHES THE HORSE TO TRUST YOU FASTER THAN ANYTHING ELSE DOES!

It's always so heart warming to see a horse literally fall in love with JR right before our eyes!! And Isaac was so trusting up there. One thing though that gets to me everytime I hear it, is the name, Groovy!!++😂😂😂😂 I can't get past belting out the tune in my head, "We've got a Groovy thing goin' on, baby!!" 😂😂😂❤❤❤❤

Every time I see you all take a new horse to the river for it's first swim, and usually it's first time loading a rider; I become more convinced this is the best way to prepare them to accept riders. Not saying the tried and true pen methods don't work, but to date, I've yet to see any horse react skittishly. Even when the show a little wide-eyed reaction, they stand and accept their rider. Who could ask for more?👏😄

Honestly! I love it as an option. The water lessens the weight for the horse too. And the water itself is a great place to land if the rider has to dismount quickly.
