The problem how media (esp. int'l.) exaggerates about Mindanao mostly describes it as a danger or war zone which is not true at all.

One follower of yours here in Vancouver, BC enjoying your "sitting-here-in-an-intersection-while-enjoying-a-25-peso-coffee" post. I appreciate of your keen observations, which coming from expats' perspective, are of much interest interest to me. Am retiring there in the Philippines in a few years and seriously looking at your neck of the woods to settle. Watching your channel and seeing you enjoy the seemingly mundane things of life have helped me solidify my decision to spend the closing chapters of my life in Mindanao. Years from now, am sure I will have that "sitting-here-in-an-intersection-while-enjoying-a-25-peso-coffee" moment with my lovely wife.

It is nice to watch vlog of foreigners roaming where locals reside in Mindanao. Usually the main stream media paint a horrible picture images of Mindanao as a extremist hotbed for ransom kidnapper. Out here in the West, when someone mention Mindanao that the first thing that pop-up on their head is Marawi. I truly feel sad that most Fil-Am children are taught by their parents that you can't make a good life in the Philippines. It's almost like a crab mentality being pass down to generation after all being and having Filipino blood isn't all just remembering your roots, traditions but being a good human dignitarian of helping others. This is why most of these vloggers are appreciated of their show case of showing us that anything can be achievable.

You can make your own champorado instead of buying the premixed ones. You just buy glutenous rice and tablea ( unsweetened pure chocolate balls) in the market. You can get them in the market. And when you cook them add a bit salt to enhance the flavor of the chocolate. Most of the tablea are organic.

I'm really surprise that the power is already in your home Island, that is very quick especially in a small Island. it is nice to see Story finding ways to entertain herself, a very creative way to enjoy the simple life on the island. I was watching the old vlog when you have poppy for the first time, well, you certainly did a great job taking care of her, she was scrawny and considered an ugly duckling but what a transformation, to see her running around strong, healthy and full of life. She transformed to an Alpha Dog that any one who sees her and compare the old picture was a miracle. Great job guys with your love and care for street local dog. She compliments your family really well. Healthy, Happy and Loving Family. peace and blessings!

0:21 Seven Eleven was already expanding all throughout the Philippines before the pandemic. Sad to say, many Seven Elevens closed due to the numerous lockdowns during the first year of the pandemic. The company's expansion slowed down. In my area alone, nearly half of the Seven Elevens have closed, many of which were located near schools. Because of home based learning, these 7/11s were forced to close down.

I can't wait to see your vlogs when you explore more parts of Mindanao. 7-Eleven more likely in cities and bigger towns that's why you don't see it in Siargao. But Siargao has lots of good restaurants/cafes. That's exciting news that some parts in Siargao has now with electricity but it can still takes time to restore the rest, same in my hometown of Bohol. There's still so many to see in the Philippines. Been in Cebu city and we did a motorbike loop from the city going down from east to west coast line then up the mountains back to Cebu city. I found Argao, Car-car, Minglanilla very interesting places to soak in around the slow, community life. I can't remember where exactly but there was a farm-to-market road we also explored that was very beautiful. You get to see big patches of cabbage farm that's being grown in the cooler climate of Cebu. Also if I can remember correctly, traveling the coast line, you'll notice that the beaches on the eastern coast are darker while sand gets whiter on the west coast. Somewhere at a port on the southern part of the coast, we traveled interisland to Dumaguete City as well and stayed for a few nights also exploring the island. All we had was a map of the Philippines and a Lonely Planet -Philippines book as guide. We didn't have any advanced bookings for accommodation and just stayed in accomodations we could find along the way. I ope you see this and try these routes too.
