you and jammy will rebuild that confidence in no time!! you're not defined by a fall, nor was it as much your fault as you claim. chin up, you're both still rockstars 💪

I’m just so happy you both are OK. The psychological aspects of situations like these are are always challenging, as I said before you were (& are) really brave getting on Dee for showjumping afterwards. I thought Jam done well because she knew you were under her and stopped momentarily enough for you to become untangled thankfully before her epic jump at the end 😂

Completely get your confidence hit, well done on getting back on board and jumping with Dee. I am very nervous about the prospect of jumping again after my own serious fall, unfortunately not in the fortunate position to jump on my horse and jump as Hugo and I are a new partnership. But it's a very big confidence hit and we will both get there. Keep being inspirational, well done and keep going!!

Well done to Meg and her team. You did so well and we are so proud of you. For your bruising can I recommend 2 things in addition to the massage. It important to break up the fluid around the lumpy bruised bits and 2 things I've found to be so helpful is 1) Sunshine get it exposed to daylight if it's cold do it behind a glass window and massage it in the Sunshine if possible. 2) Arnica cream. I've found to spend 10 to 15 minutes 2 times a day massaging the bruised lumps while inside and if you can get some sun coming in a window, no idea why this works. Then spend a few minutes rubbing in arnica cream and do this twice a day. Please disregard if you feel it's not suitable for you, but I feel that give you information you have a choice and I won't be offended if you don't apply it. If you know what I mean.

We match! My mare fell on my left leg years ago (literally like fell over sideways and onto my leg; I have zero idea how I didn't break it) and my shin swelled by 3cm. Sorry to say, my lump never went away completely. I didn't massage it though--probably would have helped. But it's fine and I don't notice it, just makes boots a little harder to fit since my legs don't match, lol. Hope you recover quickly and gain back your confidence. Falls are scary but you're a great rider and Jammy is a super pony--you got this!

Just believe you can do it Meg. Listen to people you trust, and come back slowly with Jam. Trot poles, and cross pole jumps, then a few low verticals as well. You can do it. I had a small tear injury to my thigh muscle that got a rigid sore feel to it. After the bruise went away, no one could see it from the outside, but I could still feel it with my fingers. I went for Physio, and they used a sort of a roller on my leg. That was the most helpful thing ever. Better than hand massage. Anyway, if you can find one, you just roll over that scar tissue like you’re painting something. Sounds silly, but it works.

I had a similar fall in January, just not over a fence. Going for a canter in the paddock, my horse's front hoof hit a clump of grass and we went forwards and down and she almost flipped us over but stayed up. She was okay and I got back on and it was fine until the adrenaline wore off and the pain set in. After that, my confidence was just gone. 😪 I dreaded cantering then we moved and she went nuts because I wasn't giving her confidence. It's a psychological sport for sure. 👻

Why the stirrup bar safety release should be oiled so it flips down and stirrup leathers can slide off...or left down...why i ensure my stirrup leathers are not too big /thick for the bar....if you have to struggle to put the leathers onto the saddle through the bar then they wont slide off the bar in this situation..😢 You should be able to slide the leather on easily and if the bar has a safety catch , which stops the stirrup accidently working off the bar whilst ridden. Then ensure it is well oiled and flips up and down easily...It iz designed to flip down and allow well fitting leathers to slide OFF the bar if pulled sharply backwards as would happen in this situation!

My intention is NOT to make you afraid by any means, but I would feel horrible if I didn't tell you after a significant fall which also resulted in a "divit" in my calf, I actually got a blood clot about a week later because of the impact. It really looked to me like her front feet slipped forward on the wet grass, and she kicked her back heals up to compensate and make sure she cleared! I gotta be honest, i was a bit iffy about you getting right back on to do showjumping because I think equestrians go way to hard on "just get back on immediately" since the shock/adrenaline can easily hide some real damage and its just too risky... but based on the vlogs you did actually consider it and weigh the risks and took a moment to assess so I trust you made the right decision
@emmabowland28052 жыл бұрын
Meg that's not ture about falls not getting to pros. They get to all of us and I think pros need to be more vocal about the psychological side of the sport. They are human too and have fears just like the rest of us! I had a trainer have a nasty fall and it took her 5 years to really truly get over it, and even now she still gets flash backs!!
@myhomeaquarium982 жыл бұрын
Being honest, I think the equestrian mentality of just brush it off and get back on is toxic. Yes, you absolutely can make things larger than reality in your head, but I think it’s not healthy to not allow yourself to process your emotions and gain that confidence back in your own time. The equestrian sport I’d say is equal parts mental and physical but the mental side is so brushed aside. That’s at least been my experience with instructors and the community in general :-/ I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, you are so brave for getting back on the next day with Dee!

It took me nearly a year,but I got back on her mother and was fine…I rode the daughter the one I had a fall off but only once, I hadn’t lost my confidence as such but we just didn’t have the bond I had with her mother so she was was sold but she got a permanent home…

@brendahole95752 жыл бұрын
Think her current list is Jam & Dee (XC ponies); Ace (retired old boy); Ari, Winnie (home-bred youngsters being brought on); Millie (current mum, bought with intention of eventually selling on); Ettie (current foal, who knows if Meg will be able to bring herself to sell her!); Brinny (ridden away & in-foal, I think bought with intention of selling on one day), Dora (produced from backed to now starting to event, bought with intentional of selling on, prob will go soon) & Bear (in-foal, retired from XC but Meg can’t bear to part with her so hopefully going to produce a XC star!). Think that’s it?! Meg has said before that her & Hobbit buy ponies to produce with the aim of selling on….but the buying is much easier than the selling!!
