Hey! That's what we had in Arnprior, a town only 40 miles north of Ottawa. No running water, only one well for water to serve about 50 houses and shacks. Wood stoves and outhouses or s**t buckets. There was no such thing as welfare. If you were hungry it was seen as your fault. You planted a garden and hunted or fished.
