Been in Lethem in 2010 on a drilling job just 2 hrs away from the village. Can't believe how developed the town looks compared to 11 years ago...thanks for bringing back so many memories..👍

Does anyone know where the name Guiana came about? The name Guiana first appeared in London 1596 a publication by Sir Walter Raleigh. Another article in 1901 claimed that the name came from the Arawaks tribe Akayuanas Wiana means water. However the British explorer Sir Robert H. Schomburgk think the name came from a small river known as "Waini" or "Guainia". (Sir Robert H. Schomburgk was responsible for the first Map drawn for Guiana which really creates the border dispute between Guyana and Venezuela.) Great video Denny. Thank You.

Bartica and lethem was my favorite place to visit. And it’s true I sued to walk from the airstrip to Takatu hotel. Video was so good I watched it twice. I am impressed at the better roads and internet access. Which is great. They should also try to retain the rustic look for adventure seekers. Great place . Great people. Will visit some day

Back in the days, I used to fly into Lethem a lot. I drink a lot of Itaipava beer over here in Brazil. A Churrascaria is a restaurant that specializes in barbeque meats. I mostly do all my barbeques at home. The aircraft you flew in is a Beechcraft 19D. All in all, I enjoyed the video and felt some sadness, but mostly joy in accompanying you around Lethem. I have been watchig your chnnel for the last six months and it has been exciting.I lived in India from my childhood till I was 30 years old and moved to Dubai where miracles happen.The population was 250,000 at that point of time in 1980. I moved to Canada in the year 2000.Now the population of Dubai is 6 million with a tourist population of one million it works out 7 million.Seventy percent of population is from India and its neighbours Pakistan and others.It is too crowded.Guyana is much more peaceful. I am watching your trip to Brazil ,you know how to handle people. It is a gift from the God almighty.

Seems like Lethem is developing great to a nice town. Nice roads and much of building activity. Is this the spin off of the borderbridge to Brazil? When will the Georgetown - Lethem road will be upgraded? Do you have any information on that? greetings from Surinam.
