@stevesilver7437 it is humbling, but nostalgic for me. I was in the Army from age 18 to 42. I often lived well below the way I live here, but the "hardships" bring back memories of my life as a soldier.

We run our split air-conditioning unit 24/7 set on 26 during the day and 27 at night. We have a water tank and pump as well, three electric fans, a large refrigerator. Rice cooker, toaster, hot water shower in the bathroom. Outside lighting. Our electricity bill was 6,007 php for June.

@LeonardMarlin I like Wym Hof, the ice man! I think of him every night when Lyn pours a cold bucket of water on my head! We plan to build a proper bathroom with water storage, hot water, sinks, tub, etc, but that is going to be expensive and we have to save money. I look forward to the day I can add hot water heater to my list! I don't mind sweating in the day, but in bed not 😀

Random thoughts. The Boy Scout mato...be prepared. Sitting in your house with no lights, Air-conditioning and water isn't a good time, Down right miserable for an American. We had a brown out for 12 hours today. They normally only last 10 minutes. We get them two or three times a week. a week ago we had one for an hour and half. I feel blessed today because I had my brothers install a generator that runs everything in our house during a brown out. No going without lights, air-conditioning or water. Life is good here on Samal Island.

@LeonardMarlin we have brown outs often lately. I have severe sleep apnea, so without power I cannot sleep. I have a solar battery to run my bipap machine, but want a better one. I am saving for a more robust solar chargeable power station. Where I live, talented construction workers, mechanics, solar installers, etc seem non existent. Money is the main thing keeping me from better preparing for brownout, but I am watching youtubes in the meantime about solar stuff.

@@brianandlynphilippines with the costs of panels going down it's getting more affordable to buy. I'm putting in a 7Kw 21 panel system each panel is 340 wh to offset my electric bill. No batteries, just too expensive. 250,000 to 300,000 php With batteries 800,000

Thanks for the video. I was surprised about your electricity bill 😮. I have a 2 level, 2 bedroom house with 3 aircon, which 1 is running all day and 2 all night. and all the appliances you can think of, all electric. My bill comes to average 6800 monthly.

@ThefamilyD2024 Without being overly critical, the entire delivery wires are a tangled mess, so who knows if the bill is accurate or if someone else hasn't hooked into ours. 😀

I live the same lifestyle here in the Philippines on Samal Island in Garden City as I do in the United States in Clearwater, Florida with my wife and four kids two of which are full time college students. It's all about how you want to live your life. A single person can live comfortably on $1,500 to $2,000 dollars a month anywhere in the Philippines while a Family of six can live an upper middle class lifestyle on $2,000 to $3,000 dollars a month here. What it takes to live a comfortable life in the Philippines for this American. (Me) 1) I refuse to rent, I'm not stressing about a house or rental payment every month. We own our own house that's paid for because of this specific reason. 2) I refuse to live without air-conditioning. We run our air-conditioning 24 7 Not only do we have a split air-conditioning unit ( central air ) But three window air-conditioning units as well for back up. I'm never going without air-conditioning. 3) I refuse to live without water to clean our house, take showers, do dishes, do laundry, water the plants, wash our scooters. We have Public water as well as a water tank and electric water pump. I'm never going to run out of water. 4) We keep 50 gallons of drinking water on hand at all times. I'm never going to run out of drinking water. 5) I refuse to be sitting in our house in a brown out without lights, air-conditioning, and water. We have Public commercial power as well as a generator. The generator will run everything in our house when the power goes out. We have brown outs several times a week. In most cases they last about 10 minutes but sometimes more so in the event the power is out for more than 30 minutes I will then turn the generator on. Sometime in the next two years we will be putting up solar panels. 6) We cook with propane gas. We keep two tanks so we don't have to wait around for a delivery to finish cooking a meal. I'm never running out of propane gas. 7) Transportation, when it rains we take tricycles to go anywhere we want. For now public transportation is always easy to get too. When we go to Davao city we get a taxi cab. We have two scooters mine and my wife's she prefers to ride with me but saying one breaks down we have a back up. We will be purchasing a van sometime in the near future. 8) I refuse to eat just Filipino food, We go to Davao city to shop for American food once a month, I eat 50% Filipino food and 50% American food during the month. I've said all this for one reason, If you're a person who is struggling to live in the United States trying to put food on your table and keep a roof over your head then you may want to explore the idea of relocating to the Philippines. 90% of The Philippine people speak English a big plus when moving to a new country.

I spend 1,800 php a month. We go through one tank a month. Keep two tanks. Like you when we run out we like the convenience of not waiting for delivery to continue making meals.

@EvralTatum-Mcfield-ov2mi I rather think I am responding to my own curiosity in making a budget video, more than knocking someone else's. Budgets are as unique as the individual, the environment, and the available products. I want to show the money out for July, by showing exactly where it went. If you don't know what I like, what I buy, what I can buy, then to tell you I spend $300 or $30000 a month doesn't serve the viewer too well, in my opinion. I am living my everyday, retired life, it is not an adventure show or what not. I do not live or suffer like a poor person in my opinion. I live in a nice home, drive a nice scooter, and eat beef, chicken, pork, or fish to the tune of at least 180 grams of protein per day, while avoiding carbs like rice. That is not a poor person's meal outlook. I came from living in the Sam Houston National Forest, in a 3500 sq ft home on 4 acres, by myself in Texas. I spent around $5000 a month living the same as I live here, minus the gym all the ease of living in the Greater Houston Area. I do Zumba 1 hour a day in my home here with my woman, I walk evenings, and lift dumbells I bought for the home. Anywhose, no man, no conflict with others opinion on life, just as I was sitting on the bench in Texas, I wanted more details on how much I would actually need here. I hear it is cheaper in Vietnam and Thailland, but I was also looking for one woman to love and love me which I found here, so here I am. I hope I answered your question. I lived in Mexico and El Salvador before here, and was constantly warned on the street about murder and kidnap by passersby, never heard that daily warning here. KZbin can help, but the best thing is just buy a ticket and get on a plane to various countries, I been to over 30.

@@brianandlynphilippines Well, i just was saying what the rest of vloggers claim, that you cannot live a descent life with less than $1,500, Not saying that you was challenging them at all, just making people aware that you can have a good life with less than $1000 a month, so you was in El Salvador, good, i'm a Honduran residing in Boston, came back from my country, last week thursday, Central America, is affordable also, but you have to watch your back now a days, with crime and criminal gangs, like MS13 and 18th Street Gang roaming those streets,soo i'll remain here, until i see that crime has been lowered over there!!🤔

Lyn can easily live and pay her electricity here with 15,000 piso or $255 a month when I am not here. That is a full time typical salary here.

We live on Samal Island just 15 minutes away by boat ride. Why ? Because Davao city is the safest city to live in if you plan to retire and live in the Philippines. 2nd safest city to live in. In South East Asia. Good video. How many kids do you have ? I have four but starting in August will be down to two, my two oldest will be living in their dorm rooms at college. We spend $600.00 dollars or 30,000 php for food and supplies every month. About $100.00 dollars or 5,000 php for fresh vegetables each month.

It's all about lifestyle and where you want to live. I have a home in the heart of Butuan city, a home up on a hill overlooking the Albany Golf outside of Manito and a home on Samal Island in garden City. We spend $2,700.00 dollars a month living on Samal Island because Samal Island is the Florida of the Philippines. It has probably if I had to guess 80 to 100 different resorts to eat and swim at. We spent about $2,000.00 a month when living in Butuan city. Why because city life is more expensive than Providence life. Our dream home overlooking the Albany Gulf in the Providence we spend maybe $1,500 dollars a month why so little? Because all we really do for entertainment is swim everyday, don't spend a lot for fresh vegetables and fresh fruit we have 8 acres and grow all our own food to include chickens, eggs and pork. We make one run into Legazpi city once a month to buy the American food I like to eat.
