It's nice that there are people that understand the beauty of slower speeds.

Technically the speed limit while towing is 55-65MPH in most states and there is a highway in Nebraska that it marked at 50MPH. I'm assuming most people that complain about the speed don't really tow that much. Thanks

I love seeing the military vehicle that my family member who was in the military loved until they were in combat they had to add more water to them but as they added armor they lost the ability to move quickly and more specifically to IEDs. When he came home from the war he sold his Hummer because of how many team members he lost in the war because of the lack of ability they had outside of the base in combat he suffered combat fatigue syndrome I was my uncle's therapist before he passed away due to exposure to something in the war. Anyway, I love to have the humor when you want to let go of it although I would have to add a wheelchair lift in the back of it and have comfortable adaptive seating in the Driver-passenger seating to get in it, and I am SSI for income. Sincerely! R.S.V.

The 4ws backup at the end is a dream. If it's 100 degrees out for future tow and towing in mountains you most likely won't need battery pre-conditioning lol.

The 4WS is pretty slick...and Steve's backup skills are on point. Yeah, those 100 degree days are coming...so we will put it to the test again!

I generally like EVgo, but I’ve also had a similar issue with the session randomly dropping after a few minutes on the 350 kW units.

It would be great if you could do a side by side towing comparison between an equivalent sized gasoline/ diesel tow vehicle and one of your EV’s I think even at 1mile/kWh you are still getting better fuel economy over a petrol/ diesel powered truck.

So, way back in the day we did do this with the Model X and a Ford Explorer. Here is the link to that one: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aYDRdqyMn9RqqpY But, we may try to line up some trucks/SUVs to do it again!

One mile per kilowatt hour is equivalent to 33 MPG, so that’s certainly still better than a gas or diesel truck towing a similar trailer.

When you all tow on interstates are highways what speed do you drive at?
@AllElectricFamily
@AllElectricFamily Жыл бұрын
It depends on the distance between chargers, weather conditions, etc. But, typically we are between 55-65 mph.

I really enjoy watching your videos. I’m looking forward to my Cybertuck (eventually??). Doesn’t that trailer exceed the towing capacity?
@AllElectricFamily
@AllElectricFamily Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! We took the trailer to the scale and it's right at it's towing capacity at 7,500lbs. So we are maxed out, but it does a great job handling it!

You are trying hard to prove how bad electric trucks are towing, doing a bang up job. Try a 3000 mile trip and see how many days it adds to the trip and how miserable the kids get waiting on charging…. My last trip with my diesel required 4 stops filling 60 gallons each stop which took 15 minutes each towing 7k with the bed packed in truck. Go for pinks?

Sadly, you are proving the nay sayers. I own a MYP, Rivian on order, and will never go back to ICE. Followed your channel since you got your R1T. Your videos don't show your patience with EV's in my opinion. They show, EV's aren't ready to tow. You were doing 55, then 54 to get your efficiency up, and also saying you were not holding up traffic, or being a safety problem. It's not just the cars whipping by you like you weren't moving, but semi after semi ripping by like you were standing still. What was the speed limit? In my area, if you are doing the speed limit, you ARE a safety hazard. If you are going below the speed limit, you are such a danger, you shouldn't be on the road. I love EV's, but maybe they aren't ready for your application. I get you are trying to prove they can, but are you? I think you are showing the EV haters exactly why not to buy an EV. EV's are amazing, but they have their limits.

Covid lock downs and the resulting empty roads unleashed a small minority of anti-social/borderline sociopathic folks to drive whatever speed they felt like going. I’d suggest you educate yourself about NHTSA’s findings linking speeding to a dramatic rise in deaths on the road. Then maybe you’ll be able to rewatch this video from these awesome folks in a slightly more objective manner instead of normalizing road users behaving in anti-social, dangerous ways. And by the way, I’d lump some class 8 truck drivers into these anti-social behaviors because I see speeding, weaving and phone use by truckers more than ever on my recent road trips (been driving 30k miles per year since the 1980’s and the roads are easily the most dangerous right now over that whole time due to distracted and fast driving).
