I really respect you all for delving into such a personal and complicated subject. This resonates deeply with me as someone who grew up in a baptist church my whole life with a father who is a preacher. I haven't even finished watching this yet (I will) but I know that when your views start changing and you begin questioning certain aspects of almost inherently held beliefs, it can be difficult in many ways. Besides the disappointment/judgment you may start experiencing from family and friends, it can also seem as if a war is ongoing inside yourself. As a 31 year old who has experienced some travel, various schools (doctoral student), and just meeting so many different individuals, my belief system has underwent big changes with no 100% definitive conclusions in all aspect. In other words, this is something I still grapple with in many ways. Wrapping up this extremely long comment, again just wanted to say kudos for being open to talking about such subjects and I truly believe that the majority, if not all of your fans will be open and understanding that everyone's beliefs deserve to be respected and diversity in this regard is what makes the world great.

As someone who grew up in the Deep South (Mississippi), I'm glad that you find yourselves comfortable enough to discuss this. I find that a lot of people from the South who are KZbinrs or other internet people don't talk about their lives growing up re: religion and what not (whether for fear of backlash or whatever else), and it's nice to be reminded that you're not alone in this environment. Knowing that y'all grew up in North Carolina, I wasn't particularly surprised by any of this (except did Link say he had bleached hair y'all's freshman year of college?) but I am glad that you felt comfortable sharing it. Thank you for telling your story. I was raised southern baptist in middle TN so I completely understand where you are coming from. I fully understand how difficult it can be to tell this story. While I no longer believe many of the things I was raised to believe, many of the ways I was raised inform who I am today, just as you have said. I know it isn't easy to tell this story but I applaud you for doing so. It is clear that you love and support your crew, and many of them are LGBTQIA. Your fans love and respect you, and if they're anything like me, they will respect you even more for telling this story (and I hope they all understand why you were reluctant to speak on it. I know I do). Your respect and thoughtfulness to your crew and your fans is not diminished because of where you came from, and I would argue, that being who are you is made all the more impressive, considering where you are from. Thank you for this personal look into your adolescence and I look forward to continuing with you on your journey.

After almost 10 years of following GMM, Rhett and Link’s other content, and Ear Biscuits I can honestly say this series of podcasts is one of the BEST conversations I have ever had the pleasure of listening to. I relate to the experiences they had so much and I was hooked on every word they had to say. I’m glad they were so honest and shared exactly how they felt. There will always be people who disagree or make accusations about whether it was real or not. Rhett and Link - you guys keep doing what you’re doing!

My respect grew immensely for them as a result of this series of episodes (which I've sort of watched backwards for whatever reason). I don't mean to imply I didn't respect them before or that I respect them more now because of the particular conclusions they came to -- that's not what I'm saying at all. I mean that I'm impressed by the courage it takes to talk about these issues, to reveal such vulnerable aspects of their lives, and to do so despite the risk of discussing such divisive topics at such a polarizing time. I think it takes a level of respect-for and trust-in their viewers to be so open even though, as an entertainment 'brand,' that audience likely includes people from all perspectives.

This was really fascinating. The whole hour went by in minutes! Don't be afraid of going deeper into detail.

Love you boys. Thank you for trusting me and sharing these last years with me/us. I look forward to tomorrow's episode 2 of this series.

Growing up near y’all, I resonated and recognized so many stories given here, but never realized they originated from R&L. Keep sharing your story!

This series is utterly fascinating. I am enjoying it so much. I've listen to all three (there's an extra one on Spotify - Rhett's story) and I can't wait for more. Really looking forward to Link's side. I feel so luck to have both of you in my daily life, in any way I can, but this has just been so private and personal and beautiful. Thank you.
